Constantly getting sick? -

Just wondering if anybody can suggest something I m not doing to help me from getting sick all the time. I take vitamins, don t drink or smoke. slightly over wt. but I exercise and I have caught about 5 colds in the past 6 mo if it s not colds it s stomach virus . I m 52 going thru menopause with the following diagnosis from my Dr. hypothyroidism, borderline hypertension, reflux disease, degenerative joint and disc disease ,irritable bowel syndrome , lactose intolerant, mild anemia. I only work part time and it s a non stressful job, I ve been married 30 yr to the same man my marraige is great, I m not depressed I just catch ever bug going! My boss is starting to act like she is irritated at me for being sick I don t call in but I haven t felt like working extra either.

Try drinking green tea every morning. It has incredible levels of anti-oxidants and will help prevent you from getting sick. Also, wash your hands as much as possible, because that is primarily how illnesses are spread. During the winter months, much more sickness goes around because people spend most of their time indoors. Try to get outside during the day too. All that should really help.

ur immune system is starting to break down because of ur age. it is the middle of winter i could just be the weather. when it is hotter it will probably go away

Near passout while working out question? -

doing a leg workout after a pyramid scheme chest workout. legs go numb. pulse goes weak. speach started getting slured. Had trouble standing around. very disoriented very off balance. legs giving out and in pain. Throat dry. i couldnt find his pulse. any one know what it could be? i took his blood pressure and he was kinda pre hypertension.?but im not sure if thats what it is.

Maybe the next time he doesn t get prompt medical help, he will die. Then you won t have to worry about it again.

Go to a doctor or to a hospital as soon as you can. It could be something serious.

several causes can be identified with passing out but basically it is due to the lack of oxygen in the brain

If it isn t hypertension, I would get him a cardio to see if his heart is functionally sound.

78 year old whats the diagnosis? -

hypertension, poor sleeping patterns, poor appetite, loss of interest in activities, poor recall, disoriented/confused, does poorlyon simple executive tasks, feels worse in morning...what s the diagnosis?

Several symptoms come with old age. It sounds like depression brought on by old age. Maybe a feeling of lack of recognition from friend and family.

Hi It seems to me that you need to be talking to your doctor about these symptoms. I know for me, as a type 2 diabetic, when my sugars got really high I experienced a number of the symptoms you describe. I guess you are worrying about alzheimers disease. However, there are a number of other things which can cause those symptoms. You really do need your doctor to decide. Don t be afraid of what he/she might tell you. Once you know for sure what is wrong you can start working on it. AND.....get yourself a good quality Omega 3 fish oil and take it every day. It is food for the brain and we all need that as we get older lol. Very best wishes to you

Rh Neg Blood? Gave birth and never had the shots to correct this.? -

Can this be causing the auto-immune problems I have had for 25 years? They only get worse and pile up on each other. I did have a second pregnancy but baby was lost early in the pregnancy. I have been diagnosed with Crohn s, CML, fibromyalgia, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, hypertension (does not correct with meds), cold-induced asthma, moderate aortic valve regurgition and the list goes on. I am giving up and feel like I am in maintenance mode with the constant therapies I need. I also have severe migraines too often to live with. Any ideas on this will be welcome and appreciated.

The shots you are referring to are shots used IF your child is Positive amp; you are Negative The reason is so that your body won t then create antibodies against the RH + factor.. so that a baby who is positive won t be attacked by your body while you carry it. NO.... there is no correlation as not having the shots has nothing to do with your auto-immune system

You can t correct Rh negative blood. Your blood type is negative and you can t switch it to positive. The reason why they give you shots when you re pregnant is to ensure your body doesn t attack and kill the baby if the baby has a positive blood type.

You are supposed to have the shots before the birth of the second child in order to keep your blood from mixing with the unborn babies.

If you are still here than you are ok. The shot had nothing to do with all your medical problems. I have had the shot and have the same blood type so do not worry. However, I would suggest seeing a chiropractor. They can help alot of your medical issues.

A good way to lose 100 pounds in a year? -

Ok so, i m 22 years old 5 foot 11 and weigh 285 pounds. I would like to get down to what i think is a healthy weight of 180 pounds (correct me if healthy is lower for my height and age i dunno im not a doctor). I ve been trying to lose weight for the past 7 years and yeah its hard. Anyway, what ive been wondering is is billiards considered an exercise? How long would I have to play billards to get a so called normal workout? And if I have hypertension (usually 130-160/90-120 and pulse of 80-130) is it safe to workout? What would be considered exercising at a dangerous rate? I dont want to give myself a heart attack trying to help myself.

not to burst your bubble but there is no way in hell billiards is a workout. You need to diet but not to extremely, start participating in sports regardless of what others say. If you have hypertension take it easy on your workouts but still make sure to at least break a sweat regardless of how long it takes. Just get your cardio endurance up and then it is hard to keep weight on.

This is like asking, quot;Is basket weaving a sport.quot; You don t want to loose weight by working for it. You want it to just fall off while you sleep, right? If you are serious, try this: Wishes .

Ask a doctor about your heart rate control, just take it slowly, unless its an unbelievably serious problem light exercise shouldn t be an issue, and no billiards isn t really a workout.

Diet and going to the gym

dont worry about it!

Diet help. How do I lose all this weight? -

I know I m overweight I m 20 weigh 200lbs. at 17/18 I weighed 120 what caused my weight gain was I had a baby, my mom died, and my boyfriend of 3yrs dumped me. I m ready to get on a diet and start my life again. I feel the extra weight tiring me down. making my breathing heavy, and making my knees hurt.. please help i need to lose my weight I want to get back to at least 130. How? what can I do? I ll try anything pills..diets..exercise suggestions? My family history is filled heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and more. My mom past from pulmonary hypertension.

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together. If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If you don t eat wheat then you don t eat all those sticky, fatty goey cakes, you don t eat junk food, and you don t eat biscuits. But your diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising, start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack, disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target your problem areas for men and women. It s not necessarily to become a bodybuilder or even join a gym - a couple of dumbbells will help you to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

weight watchers- less then 6 weeks and I have already lost 15 pounds. It s great and worth every penny because it s not a diet- it s a lifestyle change. Also start with small goals- am for weighting 185 and then when you reach that make a new goal. Don t think you can lose all that weight in two weeks- you need like a year to lose that much healthy!

You do not want to take any diet pills. If you want to lose weight, first quit drinking soda pop, even Diet Soda. Start drinking Water. Also, for breakfast, eat a bowl of Cheerios or Special K Cereal with Skim Milk. For Lunch and Dinner, eat small portions. Also, when you eat your food, eat slowly and put your fork down while you are chewing your food. That way, you do not stuff your mouth so full. When you can, get out and do some walking. In the cold weather, go to a department store, like Walmart and walk around inside the store. Good Luck!

after i had my son i lost my weight right away but i also wasnt eating to much cause i was to busy being a new mom.... but later on i went on a little diet and i eat 2 eggs in the morning drank only juices no soda .... and cereal for lunch and a regular meal for dinner but insteade of eating the amout your use to try making it half that size and eat it slow you;ll get fuller faster

I was overweight until I tried out acai berry, I understand they say that pills will not work, nevertheless they certainly worked for me, and they ve been featured on CNN too. There s a free trial going on right now at , try it out, how worse could it make things?

CUT OUT ALL TEA AND COFFEE.. DRINK LOTS OF WATER, EAT PLENTY OF VEG TO SUPPLEMENT YOUR DINNERS, INSTEAD OF CHIPS AND POTATO S AND CUT BREAD OUT, EXERCISE, DO NOT EAT AFTER 8PM. EAT BREAKFAST.. EAT WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY.. LITTLE AND OFTEN .DO NOT STARVE YOUR SELF YOU LL END UP PUTTING WEIGHT ON.. JOIN A CLASS LIKE BOXERSISE I GO ITS REALLY GOOD AND YOU WILL SEE THE WEIGHT FALL OFF.. GET SOME FRIENDS TOGETHER.. HAVE A WEIGH DAY EVERY WEEK.. DO NOT KEEP WEIGHING YOUR SELF EVERY DAY.. YOUR WEIGHT GOES UP AND DOWN EVERY DAY...GOOD LUCK

O my gosh good luck honey im trying to lose weight too what seems to help the most is eating more times a day but in very small portions and a lot of exercise like running that really makes you look great

Eat less, move more.

Hi, firstly don t go down the pill route the only pounds you ll lose are from your wallet. You can lose weight and be healthy. try and exercise for at least 30 Min s each day, i don t mean you need to get in the gym or join an aerobics class, although if you do that s great! Any thing that gets you moving and your heart rate up will help you burn calories. You need to burn more calories than you eat. Base your healthy eating on lots of free fruits and veg some lean protein such as chicken and fish and complex carbohydrates. Avoid fatty foods and fast foods and sweets and the weight will come of in a steady and controlled manner. There are loads of quick fix diets out there but no miracle cures it takes time and dedication, think of it as a life journey and you will lose weight and keep it off for life. I run a slimming group if you email me ill send you some sample diet sheets. Good luck

You should try a low-fat diet about 1000 calories with the right foods that will make you loose weight and prevent your health. After you have lost an average of 2 lbs. each week and have achieved your normal weight, you should then follow the low-fat maintenance diets. These diets range from approximately 1500 calories to 2200 calories. They are recommended for the average individual who does light work with a moderate expenditure of calories in average daily activities. Maintaining your proper weight by a regular calorie count. However, since individuals vary so widely, it is imperative that you watch your weight carefully by your household scale. If you find that you are gaining a little or a moderate amount of poundage (say 1 or 2 lbs. each week) then you must subtract 200 to 500 calories from your daily menus. You can then reduce a pound a week and stay on this quot;maintenancequot; diet to keep your weight on an even level. Dont take any pills an eat healthy mostly because of your family history

Your family are suffering from the effects of being over weight. All of the ailments are associated with being over weight and will make all of you very sickly and this is definitely a bad thing!!! What my hubby and I did was try some hoodia. GOOGLE: hoodia gordonii onlinehealthmart : That s where we got it and truthfully I have to admit we were both very skeptical when we first tried the Hoodia. My hubby and myself started using the Hoodia capsules about a month ago. The first two weeks I lost 12 pounds and my wife lost ten. The last two weeks has slowed down, I have lost another 9 pounds and my wife another 9 pounds. This is without any hunger discomfort, in fact we have to make sure that we eat the right things for our health, because we just get all we want to eat very quickly. We would and do recommend the product. We simply tell people that we don t sell the product, but it does work for us. All of you guys need to really get healthier, cut back on processed foods and eat right. I ll pray for you all + try the hoodia. It will help you lose your weight. Also, noni juice is a great way to fight the damaging effects of free radical damage in our bodies, which are what are causing the problems with your family s health. Read all the info on the link below and see what I mean.

The best and longest lasting results are from gradual weight loss by hard work. I know it s not what you want to hear but its the truth. Watch what you eat. Limit your sugar intake so instead of a soda or juice, drink water. Limit your carbs as much as possible though coplex carbs are good for you so don t cut them out completely. (whole grain wheat etc.) I ve always recommend those getting back into a healthy lifestyle to start out slow. Start out walking a couple miles a day then when you feel thats not enough, try speed walking. Then after that try jogging (shorter distances than when you were walking maybe 1 mile or so) then after you feel that you re getting the hang of it, job further and longer. Also remember to stretch before for sure and may be after if you can. Also do crunches and try to do push ups from your knees. Do as many as you can and keep doing them even if you can t do that many. Despite all the work out trends out there, these are still the best. Stay motivated and dedicated and you ll get there. Good luck.

i had a friend of mine who lost a ton of weight by going on a green tea diet and eating healthier. she cut her portions down a bit too. the green tea will cleanse your colon which can make you lose very quickly within the first week. Drink more water. Eat more fruit veggies and yogurt. eat baked foods NOT fried. Steamed veggies without a bunch of butter and salt. if you need flavoring use i cant believe its not butter spray. EXERCISE!!! you will get no where if you dont at least take a 30 minute walk everyday. CUT out sodas and sweets. Anything tht needs to be made with sugar. Use Splenda. Good Luck and stay patient.

What can cause excessive bleeding? -

for the last couple of days my father in law is bleedig a lot thru his nouse he is on hypertension meds and hi cholsterol could one of he meds be the reason and he also have a heart history

He s probably on blood thinners, like aspirin too.

If he is taking a blood thinner like Coumadin, it could be causing the bleeding. His doctor should be notified that he is having spontaneous nosebleeds.

The best thing you can do is go to the doctor there are so many reasons and causes when health is concerned that the doctor is really the best to advise. If he wont then talk to nhs diect they can tell you and give you advise. I wish you well x

Yes it could be the meds or a combination of the meds he should see his doctor right away.

excessive cuts?

Blood thinners are usually the culprits for spontaneous bleeds. Sometimes anti hypertension meds can cause an increased risk of bleeding due to the dilation of blood vessels, but normally doesn t cause bleeding by itself.

What are chronic diseases? -

what are chronic diseases?are hypertension chronic, high cholesterol chronic, what are chronic?.

The meaning of quot;chronicquot; is that it is something that never goes away. Diseases and conditions that can be cured are called quot;acutequot;.

Please help. I have no self discipline..? -

How do you get over poor self discipline? I am a perfectionist, i have bad anxiety a lot. I get overwhelmed by everything because I take on too much and I am obsessed with cleaning my immediate surrounding... I also find it hard to bring my self to do something before 3am if I don t think I can do it well, so my grades are going down. This leads to self neglect, not washing and eating either too much - all crap, or too little. I don t exercise because my anxiety had given me a heart health phobia. (I have tremor, palpitations, hypertension, hyperventilation and panic attacks etc) Does anyone have constructive criticism/ advice? It makes me a depressive, self-destructive, mean insomniac! I am 16, i currently feel doomed to failure.

i think you need to give yourself more credit * you ve written this question in the mental health section which is exactly where it should be * you ve identified some key problem areas in your life this may not sound like much, but it s huge you realize what s happening in your life and what you are doing isn t working, you are looking for help/advice and you are able to pinpoint some triggers for you i know you probably feel overwhelmed right now and you re not quite sure what to do next, but honestly i think you are way ahead of the game lots of people in your situation don t even know how to articulate what they are going through first thing, you need to talk to your doctor they will be able to help you if you are comfortable, you should try talking to your family at 16, hopefully they will be supportive and do what they can for you but if you are not able to rely on your family then go and talk to your doctor you are 16 and you are NOT doomed to failure i read your story and feel bad about what s going on, it really sucks! but you are so good at identifying your issues which is typically more than half of the problem you simply need to look at solutions i m excited for you i know that sounds weird, but i think if you get help for these issues you will look back on this one day and realized that indeed you had a lot of the ground work done and it s a matter or finding solutions best of luck

Do you meditate? You need some peace in your life to accept the beautiful things about YOU! Try to meditate, or pray daily. Start with 5minutes and add a minute or 2 everyday til you get to 30 minutes. Also exercise...walk everyday...it brings out the good brain checmicals that you need with al the stress you have - it brings out the bad brain chemicals and is an additioanl reason why you may feel so bad. Health dear. Not perfection. Grades are NOT as important as health. Good luck honey. You are so young and have so much to look forward to!

First and foremost, you need to call your local Mental Health Facility, or your family doctor and tell them everything that is going on with you. You may have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorer), which needs to be addressed immediately before it or you get completely out of control. Good Luck to you.....

I don t know what your relationships with young men have been but from the sound of it I m picking up somebody has really nailed your feelings way too hard! You definitely need a caring older individual (pastor, counselor, wiser older woman, etc) and PLEASE get some help soon! You are entitled to a full and happy life! Please get the help you need so that you can fulfill yourself. Good luck and God bless!

Get your parents to get into some teen counseling. They also have meds for this type of illness. Lots of people take them and they do fine. Also studying and reading on the pyschology site would help you apply therapy to your condition.

i think you need professional help. it s hard to work on all this on your own. talk to ppl close to you and ask for help.

You need to see a psychiatrist and get professional help.

I have had some of the same feeling as you. Therapy and meds have made things better for me.

You re a perfectionist? Gee, that s great. Think of how much better you are keeping things clean, than how a slob s place looks. Write down all your positives (we all have them) and you ll be surprised how many you have. Don t you have a nice friend who you can study with (before 3am)? Self discipline can be either quot;poorquot; or quot;goodquot;. You be your own adviser and make yourself do positive things (volunteer, help someone else, make cookies and take to a shut-in or relatives, and watch only decent shows on tv or videos. Think of how good you could look if you took care of yourself instead of self-neglect. You can be just as good and have fun as anyone else. Think positive. There is a book called quot; The Power of Positive Thinkingquot;. Get it free at a library and read in it every day until you begin to feel positive. You can turn this all around and be and feel like a new person, enjoying life, and being happy again. Pull yourself up by the bootstraps, and Go For It! Good Luck.

Get plenty of sleep. If we don t sleep well it affects us all on all levels. Structure. We all need structure and make a list of what you need to do everyday. For instance. Be in bed by 9 pm or 10, Wake up at 7am make your bed and take a shower everyday and wash your hair everyday. Taking a shower and washing your hair stimulates your skin and all your senses it wakes up your body as well as good hygiene. Eat well balanced meals, breakfast lunch and dinner and eat fruit for snacks. Try to stay away from fast food and carbs like flour, rice etc. Eat protien, veggies, fruit, stay away from fruit juices and eat whole fruit instead. Exercise everyday, and make it vigours exercise to help release indorphins or good feeling hormones. If you have a dog take him for walks 3-4 times a day and talk to your neighbors as you come upon them, this give you practice at being social and enhances your self esteem. You would be surprised how many friends you make as you do this everyday and if you don t have a dog get one. Having a pet does wonders, you stop focusing on yourself and focus on taking care and loving a pet. They are happy to be near you and teach them tricks, and it s easier to meet other pet owners as you see the same people on walks everyday. The whole idea is to set up structure for yourself everyday and get out of the rut your in. Practice, Practice makes a habit.

You need to prioritize, decide what is more important. Perhaps making a schedule will help you out. First look at your week ahead and see what school activities and work if up coming. Set aside the necessary amount of time per day to accomplish that (right after school if possible). Make a check mark to show what you have completed for the day on that list. Then make yourself sit down and have a decent meal, of course you will have days when you want to cheat and have snacks (but keep a log of what you eat a day..you will be surprised). Do a couple of chores (but spread them out through the week). Then make time for a nice walk or maybe a short time on a tread mill or a bike ride. Decide whether you have more time to take your showers in the morning or at night. If you think of something that needs to be done and it is bedtime or something....just write it down and make time for it the next day. If you are getting stressed out, find a quiet place and relax or go for a walk. You are much too young to be getting so overloaded like this. As years go on you will realize somethings really aren t all that important. If the dishes go 1 day unwashed or you dust only once a week or so...oh well. I used to get too bent out of shape, but it isn t worth it. If you can t get through this on your own, find someone you can talk to either a friend or a professional. Good luck

Do U.S. doctors treat obesity? -

If a doctor sees that a patient was hypertensive, he would give that patient a perscription for hypertension. If a doctor sees a patient that is overweight obese, is the dr allowed to treat it by giving advice?

Of course it is a medical condition that come under a Dr. jurisdiction. But in my experience most don t waste much time with conditions they can t treat with a pill or surgery.

Yes, but depending on your insurance he may or may not be able to give you something for it. Unfortunately advice doesn t always work.

The liberals might try to sue him for discriminative insulting. I believe I heard of a case like that a few years ago. Nevertheless, if he can prescribe another dumb pill like they do all day for the names of conditions, he ll probably do it.

If you ask your doctor, he may prescribe something or just give you advice and dieting tips. If you are extremely overweight, you should go to a doctor that specializes in this, they can give you much better advice.

Do you think that the doctor will let me eventually ease me off of blood pressure medicine? -

I recently went through a series of very difficult doctor s visits where I was misdiagnosed with a few different dreadful conditions. I was exceptionally stressed out and very nervous when at the doctor s office. Fortunately, I was found to have something that was very easy to deal with. However, my diastolic blood pressure was quite elevated during my doctor s visits (120/100), prompting my doctor to prescribe a quot;water pillquot; to reduce the hypertension. He asked me to take it for three days and come in at the end of the week for another blood pressure measurement. Wonderfully, my blood pressure was down to 118/80. This makes more sense since I am at a terrific weight, am 27 years old, work out each day, and eat reasonably. My feeling is that my bp decreased due to my relief that nothing is seriously wrong with me. The nurse said she agreed, but the doctor was out today. What do you think the chances are that he will eventually ease me off of the quot;water pillquot; bp meds?

Even 27 year-olds at normal body weight, good diets, and good exercise habits can have high blood pressure. But generally, blood pressure medication isn t prescribed until THREE documented BPs in treatment range are seen. Typically, once you get started on them, it s going to be for life to prevent heart, brain, kidney damage, etc. There is also good research to show that people with quot;white-coatquot; hypertension go on to develop sustained hypertension over the years. All that being said, you can get your own automatic BP cuff, make sure that you know how to get accurate readings, and check your blood pressure daily after going off the water pills. Your target diastolic is -75- based on current JNC guidelines, and you should be on medication if it is regularly above 85.

I think you should get an electronic blood pressure kit and monitor your BP at home, because the bottom being 100 is close to having a stroke. You may have had so called quot;white coatquot; hypertension, but that is a huge rise in BP for just a little nervousness....have you had your cholesterol and triglycerides checked lately? If your blood is quot;sludgyquot; it would be hard to move, hence high BP...or if dehydrated it would be thicker too....are you drinking plenty of fluids? Taking enough calcium in your diet or multivitamin?here are links to the hypertension DASH diet... Hypertension DASH diet (introduction) (what is high blood pressure) (what is the DASH eating plan) (how do I make the DASH) (how do I get started on the DASH eating plan) (a week with the DASH eating plan) (recipes for heart health) (to learn more) (National Kidney foundation..high blood pressure and the kidneys)

I know one thing, high blood pressure is a killer, so do not stop taking the medication unless the doctor says so, and remember always get a second opinion.

And he should take you off the water pill,I see no sense to it,but Im not a DR. so listen to your body please take care IdI say the increase in your blood pressure due to your nervous condition, but you are very young for such a high increase, you might want a second opinion,if it does not quiet down. Make sure you drink plenty of water, and I cut out the salt,in the beginning its hard, but in a while you enjoy the taste of the food. Good Luck We3inc

It may be fine to assume that the slight diastolic increase in your BP was caused by your anxiety or other factors like stress, being tired or you could really be hypertensive. At this time, age is no longer a big factor in developing hypertension. It is more of the persons diet and activity level. You may be young, but a lard eater and a sedentary person causing you to be prone to develop hypertension. In cases like yours, I usualy ask for BP monitoring, done at the same hour of the day for 3 consecutive days (you must be relaxed when you have your BP taken and well rested the night before). If it shows in your monitoring that you have high BP then that s the time that I would request for a hypertensive work up which includes many tests (needs fasting). Depending on the result, the doctor might start you on hypertensive medications or may give you something to lower your cholesterol level.

If youre numbers are getting better he should decrease the dosage or take you off of them completely as soon as he feels it is safe.

What is the best way to strengthen a 50 year old weak heart with a murmur? -

The heart has constant palpitations. It pounds at night. When the blood pressure is low, it pounds in a milder pattern. Overall, no exercises or special diet is done because none were recommended. Since I do not have any direction from the doctors, what should I do. Does anyone know of a good doctor who really knows his/her job for hypertension, heart disorders, and digestive system decline in the southwest u.s.a.?

I am going to tell you what you need rather than what you want to hear. I suspect that you don t have a diagnosis because nothing is wrong with you. A murmur can be from one of several sources including completely benign sources. If a clinician is suspicious of a murmur then an echocardiogram can be done. Palpitations have a higher frequency in those with poorly controlled anxiety as compared to those who do not. Lastly if you have difficult to control blood pressure and are overweight and/or a loud snorrer, consider going for a sleep study to be evaluated for sleep apnea. Otherwise, save yourself time, money, and peace of mind. Initiate your own exercise. Start a walking program where you are walking at least 3 miles per hour for 30 minutes at a time, three times weekly. If you can t do that then start slower and at less distance, working up adding 10 minutes per week, then adding speed, eventually walking a full hour several times weekly. It will burn off some of your anxiety, you will have better digestive function, and it will help your blood pressure and cardiac function...and it costs nothing. You may also benefit from finding some books on self-relaxation techniques (go to the library if need be). Lastly eat a common sense diet to include all of the food groups and eat in moderation (whatever you were going to eat, put a 1/3 of the serving of everything back and eat the remainder instead.) If you want some further direction go to the american diabetic association (helpful even if you are not diabetic) web site or the american heart association web site for further and specific diet recommendations. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Your cardiologist shoud have given you some restrictions but you can do some light cardio workout like stationary bike, upper extremity bike, stretches on a mat, light weights...do more reps and less sets, example would be 2 sets of 25reps with 2# weights in bicep curls. You need to monitor your heart rate and BP to make sure they don t get to high. When they begin to raise, you need to rest. What state/city do you live

depends on what valve is producing the murmur and how severe it is (exercise in the setting of severe aortic stenosis can kill you). Additionally, need to know if there is any coronary artery disease present, if there is normal heart function, adn if there any any additional medical problems.

My mom was diagnosed with that about 20 years ago. She started walking every day for about 45 minutes to 1 hour. She still does that today. She is 70 years old.

You sound crazy. Tell us the diagnosis you were given other than being a hypochondriac.

Blood pressure...................................? -

I ve got 150/90 readings both times at my GP panning between 2 months. But i ve just got myself a blood pressure monitor cuff wrist and i got a reading of around 110+/60+ on multiple tried. So.... is my monitor inaccurate or do i have white coat hypertension?...lolol i do feel funny going doctor.

it depends it is very important to follow the directions on your wrist cuff to get the most accurate reading...like make sure you have it on the correct arm if one is designated and make sure you are not talking or moving very much while it is taking your bp...however white coat hypertension is a very common phenomenon

Are you nervous when the doctor takes your blood readings? The accuracy of such readings may depend on your state. With regard to the device you bought, it may not be accurate itself. If you did not invest much money into this, there s a chance it could be of poor quality.

I would not trust yours.Sorry but they are just not that reliable.Expecally if there the electric kind, I would see a doctor...High Blood Pressure is nothing to fool around with

What is hypertension? -

Hypertension is high blood pressure. Normal blood pressure is considered 120/80 with some minor differences depending onthe person. Anything higher then this would be considered hypertension. There are several categories of blood pressure, including: Normal: Less than 120/80 Prehypertension: 120-139/80-89 Stage 1 hypertension: 140-159/90-99 Stage 2 hypertension: 160 and above/100 and above

Normal BP readings are as written in your first response, but hypertension is when the areteries are either narrowed by plaque and/or the vessels constricting or blood is needed in other parts of your body so the blood has to get there more quickly. Due to this the pressure of the blood flowing through is increased and can wear out your vessels and heart if left untreated for some time.

High blood pressure from eating too much animal fat.

CALM DOWN TAKE THINGS EASY DONT PANIC AND CUT OUT THE SALT INTAKE

Same as high blood pressure. Too much pressure, from the inside, on the arteries. Here s a site with more info:

It s high blood pressure, and if you have it this is what you do. If you re a smoker, quit. I know, easier said then done, but it ll definitely pay off in the long run, and not only regarding your blood pressure. If you re overweight; exercise and eat healthy. (www.3fatchicks.com -- it s my bible) Also, whether you re overweight or not, quit with the salt. Cut as much salt intake as possible, drink LOTS of water and not only will you probably look better, but you ll feel like a new person without all of the achyness. This is just assuming that you HAVE hypertension. Hope I helped!

hypertension is the medical term for high blood pressure.

My mother had a stress test and it came back showing abnormalities of the lower heart what does this mean? -

She had the stress test and an abnormality of the lower heart showed up, so he then suggested that she have a catherization immediately, now my mother has no insurance at all, so we were nervous that she wouldn t get fair treatment or a fair diagnosis being she had no medical insurance. She had the cath. and he said there was no blockages and that she had something called hyperdynamic of the lower heart. He didn t explain to me what this meant, when I asked him, he said it was on the paper and he acted like he couldn t get out of the room fast enough. He didn t even come check on her at all afterwords like most doctors would. He acted like he didn t have time for me or my questions. Should I trust this diagnoses or should I seek another opinion. If you have any suggestions please let me know, we are trying so hard to get her on disability, even before this happened she was diagnosed with COPD and severe hypertension. I just don t know what to do, please give me advice, I m very concerned.

Cardiologist are some what pre madonnas I m so sorrry you have been treated that way, the nurses should have stepped up. Yes you can trust the diagnosis, and thank god there was no blockages, but my best recommendation is find a new cardiologist they all are not like that creep. Your mom will need a primary MD and cardiolgist, between the two they can treat her, and she can live a good productive life. Blessing

the diagnosis was consistent with her other problems, it means her heart is enlarged and is not pumping effectively, sadly there is no remedy for this. Most cardiologists will order medications to help, but there is no quot;fixquot; for it.

Please help me understand beta-blockers and this nursing diagnosis? -

I have this patient with Cardiac Dysrythmias. (Atril Fib) This means DECREASED cardiac output...because the blood cant be pumped to then body effeciently. So they are giving him a Beta Blocker to Lower his blood pressure. His blood pressure 180/110. But if you lower the B/P with a beta blocker....then isnt that decreasing the output even more??? how can i write this med as one of the interventions..if its not helping. Please help me understand thisss!!! How could someone with hypertension have decreased output!!?? im soo losttt. can a beta blocker slow the heart...which then increases cardiac output?? How will the BP play into this!?

A beta blocker is a medication that slows the heart rate and reduces the force with which the heart muscle contracts, thereby lowering blood pressure. Beta blockers do this by blocking beta-adrenergic receptors, which prevents adrenaline (epinephrine) from stimulating these receptors.2

YOU are supposedly the nurse. Look it up. I hope you are not doing your job based on answers you get off of this web site for God s sake! Go to a reputable web site. Jeez.

most patienst with cardiac dysythmia has irregular and fast heart beat. betablockers doesn t just lower the blood pressure but also slows down the pulse/heart rate. It aids in manitaning the heartrate or heart beat of someone with atrial fib

Do you agree that obesity is becoming a global epidemic. How many members in your family are obese? -

Obese persons develops a large number of medical complication like gall stones, pancreatitis, hernia, diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease, deep vein thrombosis, abnormal pulmonary function, arthritis, backache, infertility, blood pressure , heart problems, and certain cancers like cancer of oesophagus, colon, gall bladder, prostate, breast, uterus and kidney. It is very sad that most of us know that a obese person will develop complicated medical problem at a later stage yet we do not take initiative to advice them or help them in achieving weight loss. Ask for free body analysis.

My dad and brother are overweight. All the females in my family are normal weight. Except my daughter who is skin and bones.

I am obese but i ve done the diets amp; exercise amp; all the weight just comes back. I have had to accept my weight or go totally mad since society does not accept fat only thin -sorry

Yes we agree.

You are absolutely correct. And we all the know the problem such as fast foods. People don t spend time cooking a healthy meal as our parents did when we were growing up. Also there are too many convenient fast food restaurants. They are everywhere, every major highway, the mall, neighborhoods. I think that we should pay more attention to the media. They already banned Trans-fat from so many places. Also if you pay attention they have more diet commercials and plans available. But you know what the average person does not care. They really don t give a (bleep). Anytime you see commercials that tell you about cigarette smoke and show you what this does to your health, you would think people would quit. Go figure.

Yes and no.....I agree that it s a major health issue for the people that are obese or are on the verge of being obese. The thing I don t agree with you though is the global epidemic. Personally I think it s mostly in the US, no other country eats as much as our country does and there s a good % of people that live here that can t run 2 miles without dying or do 25 pushups if their life depened on it! That s pretty shameful unless your 60 or a physical condition, etc, etc. This sounds strange and I ve talked about it to my friends who agree with me, for some reason there s not a lot of fat Asians living in the states and I live in Hawaii which probably has the highest % of asians for a state in the country

None of my family members are obese or on wrong side. Obesity is problem of excess. i am too thin and want to add weight and most people are that way in my family.

there are a couple of people in my family obese not in my house but I see it in the up and coming generations I think it has a lot ot do with inactivity and poor food choices people are in such a hurry they would prefer to eat out and take short cuts to meal time both my children are slim they are very active and we eat healthy foods and always have meals as a family at the same time I think that has a lot to do with it

If I were you I would contact that ice cream maker, there are usually question and comment numbers somewhere on the box, and complain! but you have nothing serious to worry about, it wont hurt you in any way. it is just gross more than anything.

why did you ask this question twice? i just answered it over at the other one!

Racing heart? -

Why is it after I take my daily shower my heart beats like hell? (Up to 200beats per min). My doctor already knows this and I think he called it hypertension, but I was just curious to know why it s so much more after my shower. Sometimes it beats so hard I can see it moving by looking at my chest.

a hot shower greatly expands your blood vessels making the heart work harder and faster to get the blood circulated adequately.

Maybe you shower at the wrong temperature?

That would be a great question to ask your doctor. I have no idea.

Hypertension is raised blood pressure and does not affect your pulse. I would have liked your age, medication history if any, and past medical history. However going with what little you have told me, I am a bit unhappy about what is going on. 200bbm is far from normal, though I can t easily relate your problem to the shower. Normally a period of abnormal rhythm is investigated with a 24 hour ECG monitor, but you cant have this on in the shower. Do me a favour, perhaps on a day when you have more time go through what you would normally do in the shower, but without the water on. I suspect the result may be the same as the problem is more likely to be the standing or your posture triggering off the abnormal rhythm, if this is the case get your GP to refer you to get an outpatient 24 hour ECG monitor. I think this should be looked into rather than brushed off.

That happened to me once. I hadn t eaten for 15 hours and I went to grab my fruit in the morning and the same exact thing happened to me. Thanks for posting this. Though I m sorry I can t help you with your problem lol

this happens to people that smoke, a friend of mine has this problem also, his doctor prescribed beta blockers. apperently it s stress related.

200 beats per minute is fast indeed! Try taking things slowly next time you have a shower - make sure the water isn t too hot or too cold. Take your time and see if that makes a different. How does it make you feel - anxious, light headed, sick, etc. To be honest, I would go back to the docs and ask him to check your heart again - just to reassure you.

I am 21yrs old and I am suffering with Obesity amp; Baldness!!? -

I was a bit over weight since i was a kid, but since 3 years i am getting bald and also gaining lot of weight. May because of the over weight i got hypertension, 140/90. I am from India and I am vegitarian, for a long time I stopped consuming calorie rich foods. But there isn t any change in weight, I have been 105-110Kgs(210-220 pounds) for the past five years. I don t understand why it s like that, my parents were in good health when they were of my age, my mom is also obese but only since she turned 40years and my dad who is 50years old now has visible baldness. Unlike my parents I got Obesity and Baldness right at the age of 20. I would like to know your ideas on this case.

shave your head and try to live with being bald you may like it, i think being completely bad is much better than just a bald spot, also it depends on how tall you are for your weight if you are short like below 6 feet then yeah you are a bit over weight but if you are around 6 feet then your fine my husband is 6 feet and 220lbs and he is sexy to me so find a girl that likes you for who you are not for what you look like

I think cardio vascular exercise is the best way to lose fat/weight. You mentioned that you are Indian and have given up calorie rich food but is your diet based on protien or carbs? (Ghee is fat, rice, lentils, beans etc. are carbs). I can t really say without specifics but I think you simply need an exercise program aside from the odd cricket match or football challenge. :)

My Friend I am sure you have DHT(Dihydration testics) problem. because due to this problem also baldness is starting amp; other problems are showing about health. If you try to Prostate(Propecia) 1mg.tablet daily for 6 months you can see best result. I have proof this problem.

Forget about the baldness, there s nothing you can do about it. All you can do is take care of what you can control; eat healthy (protein, fiber, vitamin-rich foods, low carbs) and find a way to enjoy regular exercise.

I would exercise and go see a doctor. Male pattern baldnes is normal. Don t stress yourself. make sure that you go see a doctor about the hypertension and obesity.

Male pattern baldness is genetic and you can start balding quite early even though your Dad didn t. You just got unlucky.

2 out of 30 infants are given to the wrong parents every day

I d talk with a doc to get really help.

My best recommendation would be to see a holistic doctor/treatment center. One example is a Dr. Mercola in Chicago, who runs a very reputable practice. There you will most likely go through a series of tests to analyze your whole body so they can find out why you re not losing weight and what could be contributing to your premature hair loss. One thing you can try to do before the fact is to stop focusing on caloric intake but on your cholesterol, sugar, sodium and saturated and trans fat intake. Most of these problems you re experiencing are likely due to nutrition. You re still young and preventative action should be the best approach. Good Luck!

How do YOU handle stress? -

for me when i get stressed about something, i go crazy. whether it b a test, project, or quiz i freak out all the time. that is why i can t be a doctor.. lol i don t know if it is just me or genetics but i would like to learn how to cope with it better for health reasons. i know that my parents stress out to much hence hypertension, so i know it is in the blood but what are some ways you guys deal with stressful situations. sometimes i don t want to think about things, but they are always there in my head. some techniques i have found useful is listening or playing enjoyable music, taking deep breaths, or drinking water. i would like to go more in depth though. any advice is appreciated :)

I go chill out with my friends, go talk a long walk at natural reserves. Go for a good nice jog. All these help me a lot. Basically do what you enjoy.

One of the following, not necessarily in order of preference: 1. listen to my favorite music 2. drink whiskey 3. exercise 4. have sex 5. hit something living or non-living as hard as I can and then wonder if I broke my hand.

i spazz. seriously i do. its involuntary for me.then once i control my spazzing i listen to music or cut myself {i dont suggest cutting, its addictive and the scars are terrible but ive cut to much to stop}

I masturbate and drink beer. Sometimes at the same time.

The way that works for me the best is listening to music. I use my Ipod so that the music isn t just in the air but in my head. I turn it up so that it s loud enough to really hear it with out having to tune out the rest of the world. I make sure that the music is something that I really love and I find my favorite song and just keep it on repeat until I relax. Than I ll switch up to one of my favorite playlists and keep that on repeat and keep listening until I m totally calm. I also take long hot baths and read my favorite books with a cup of very hot tea. I m a lot older than you but you should find the things that make you happy and go with it until it calms you down.

Risk vs benefit in hot tubs? -

OK, guys. A Best Answer will address each of the two parts of the question with at least one reference for each part. I am presenting at the governing board where I live, and I need facts. Thanks in advance. Hot tubs have much benefit, and some risks depending on the tempreatures used. (1) What is the MINIMUM temperature that should be used to provide the benefit of heat and agitation for a person who is in good health? Let s assume a 5 - 10 minute soak. (2) What is the MAXIMUM temperature that should be used for a person with some health risks (diabetes, hypertension [treated], hypertension [untreated], other)? Thanks again for the help.

benefits risk

I did not choose this answer as a quot;bestquot; since the criteria were not met. The answer only had a reference, and the reference did not address the question of temperature. Sorry, I do not give this a quot;bestquot; answer. Report Abuse

Can we feel any symptoms of high blood pressure? -

I ve been told several times that we can t feel symptoms of hypertension. I ve also been told that we can. I ve even heard both sides from doctors. I believe that I definitely can. I seem to get a little tachycardia when I ve skipped a dose or two. Can anyone say with certainty........What s up? I don t usually ask for this but please cite your sources in your answer. Feel free to contact me outside of this forum, in fact, please do at jjck2727@yahoo.com . I m a 39 yr old guy who had a heart attack a year ago......just trying to cover all my bases.

You can t feel that you have high blood pressure; that s why it s called the silent killer. Since you had a heart attack a year ago, I m going to guess that you re on a beta-blocker of some sort (metoprolol, atenolol, bisoprolol, etc). These lower your blood pressure and also lower your heart rate. If this is the medication you re skipping, what you re probably feeling is your heart rate increasing due to the lack of medication.

hope this helps. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/high-bl...

Based on the Jack Spratrsquo;s case study answer the following questions:? -

Jack Sprat is a 55 year-old gentleman who underwent coronary artery bypass graft to treat atherosclerosis. He returns to his internist’s office where you work as a nurse practitioner. Jack reads a lot of books and watches movies about fast foods, saturated fat, and cholesterol. He asks for your opinion of what is the best diet for him. How will you advise him? Jack’s lunch diet recall is as follows: Turkey with Swiss on rye with thousand island dressing Sun chips Diet Coke Based on the Jack Sprat’s case study answer the following questions: What recommendations will you make to improve the nutritional profile of Jack’s lunch? What dietary advice would you give to patients like Jack Sprat who have hypertension? Would you suggest that Jack limit fats in his diet? What are specific fatty acids in specific foods he should eat more of? What would you recommend in relation to dietary cholesterol? Should Jack eat more whole, unprocessed, plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and legumes? Why or why not? What fatty foods should Jack eat less of? Where would you direct Jack for more information on the subject?

Your question is a bit much for a simple question and answer forum. I d say most people either won t be qualified to or have the inclination to answer all of those parts. I would tell J.S to check the sodium levels on the Sun Chips and the diet soda in accordance with his guidelines for sodium intake on a hypertension relieving diet.

28 Y/O With Cardiac, Pulmonary amp; Other Various Symptoms-Syncope, High Blood Pressure, Difficulty Breathing? -

At the age of 17 I began to have palpatations and begain to have sporatic episodes of syncope and Atrial Fibrillation. I was hospitalized for AFIB and the following tests were conducted at that time: MRI, EKG s, Stress Echo, Echo, Cardiac Cath, CT Scan, various blood work all in which were normal. Holter monitors caught some PVC s. A tilt table was conducted and I was diagnosed with vasal vagal episodes. I was not put on any type of medications at that time. Over the years of have had minor difficulty breathing with the feeling of rapid heart beat, palpatations, dizziness, near snycopol episodes, extreme fatique, etc. I am now 28 and my symptoms have greatly increased over the last 2 years or so and in the last couple of month much much worse. I am unable to do anything with exursion without shortness of breath and the feeling of rapid heart rate, I have had a couple of syncopal episodes, severe headaches around the eyes radiating to the back of the neck, dizziness, very extreme fatique, frequent urination, anxiety, the feeling of a fever (no elevated temp), high blood pressure, feeling of palpatations, sweating to name a few. I have again undergone a stress echo, echo, ekg s, blood work, hospitalized overnight for a CT scan of abdomen, Chest x-ray to rule out a lung embolism, or pulmonary hypertension. An EPS study (cath) was conducted and was negative. Chest xray was negative and CT scan was negative other than a small nodule (1cm) on my adrenal gland. I was released from the hospital with orders for an ultrasound of the coritid arteries and MRI of the abdomen all in which I am waiting for the scheduled date (unsure why this was not done in the hosp) I have also undergone additional blood work which was negative and a 24 hour catch to rule out Pheocromoytoma, these results are in however have yet to been read by the Endo specialist. On top of the symptoms I have mentioned above I have been having extreme dizziness (almost like vertigo) with the slightest movement. This does not come and go but is now constant, sometimes to the point I have waves of nausea. I am on the following medications: Metroprolol 50mg 1 daily, Paxil 20mg 1 daily, Ambien 10mg for sleep as needed, Pravastatin Sodium 10mg 1 daily, Diazepam 5mg every 8 hours if needed, Fish oil. My BP now seems to be mostly controlled with the beta-blocker however sometimes spikes for no reason and comes back down quickly. Prior to the medication the BP was running on average 170/90 and going up as much as 188/103. My heart has checked out ok, blood ok, lungs ok..does anyone have similar symptoms or diagnoses? Any ideas on what this may be any why the symptoms are persisting? This is getting very overwhelming and stressfull and I need to get this resolved. Many Dr s do not seem to take this seriously because they look at my age of 28 and state someone of my age would not have any major problems.

As I was reading your question Phenocromocytoma popped into my head, so I m glad that you are seeing an endocrinologist. They will probably order more blood work when you see them. I hate it when they use age to say your not sick. Hang in there an I hope you get answers soon, take care, Donna

Let me try and give some advice from that list of medications: Paxil and Metoprolol could be causing many of your symptoms. You should be monitored for bradycardia and loss of cardioselectivity. Dose reductions of metoprolol, a change from metoprolol to atenolol or bisoprolol, or substitution of paroxetine with an alternative antidepressant may be necessary. Foods you shoudl avoid: high fat foods - Diazepram caffiene - Diazepram Grapefruit (juice) - Diazepram Metoprolol should be taken WITHOUT food only. You cannot drink alcohol I really advise you to get a cardiologist, psychiatrist and a clinical pharmacist. You are on alot of drugs and you may need to replan your therapy.

What things that people who had hypertension cannot do? -

People with hypertension should not do things that wil increase the blood pressure further. This included vigorous activity, fear, drugs that increase pressure, salt. The fear reason is why they have that disclaimer at the amusement parks. fatty food and all that is general health. What happens with high blood pressure is that it causes micro tears in the lining of the blood vessel, and the fatty foods cause plaque and cholesterol to build up there, so that is why no fatty food. They need to be careful about giving blood and loosing a great blood volume, if the pressure drops suddenly it is bad for them since the body cannot compensate easily. They can live very normal lives, with no problems, but they should go for treatment Contact me if you need anything

they should avoid salty and fatty foods. eliminate stress if you can and have regular exercise. continue taking your medication if there s any to maintain your blood pressure to ideal.

It depends upon the person and also how high your blood pressure is. Extremely high pressure can make you dizzy, light headed, heart beat inconsistency, etc.but not necessarily. Never rely on a change of symptoms or change in daily feelings to attempt to determine if you do have hypertension.

Yes. Yes you can feel. My husband and I were in a store. He got so weak he could hardly walk. I took him to the doctor. His blood pressure was too low. One time he was driving, he started seeing colors. Went to the doctor, who sent him to the ER. His blood pressure was sky high. He was having a TIA. I drove up to the grocery store. I looked at my grocery list and saw half the words. I looked at a woman and saw half her face. Felt real strange. I was having A TIA. My husband has 6 stents and a pace maker. High blood pressure is in my genes.

Would you legalize Marijuana for Industrial and Medical use? -

Industrial use = Fuel, Food, Product, etc. (The portion of the products that can be made by hemp number over 2,500) Medical use = Alzheimer s disease, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Diabetes mellitus, Dystonia, Fibromyalgia, Gastrointestinal disorders, Gliomas, Hepatitis C, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, Hypertension, Incontinence, Multiple sclerosis, Osteoporosis, Pruritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Sleep apnea, Tourette s syndrome, etc. (Note: These are some the the diseases and viruses who s symptomes can be treated.) Annual American deaths caused by smoking marijuana. 0

of course so write your congress men and woman

As a cancer patient... YES Beyond that... the fda and gov both recognize the medicinal properties of thc as they have made a synthetic thc perscription that costs 10 times what real marijuana costs. Its called marinol. fight against legal medicinal use is that most people honestly believe it was made illegal based on medical and scientific proof that it was bad bad bad. When it wasnt. Its a cop out argument, but even cocain and lsd and heroin can be given medicinally, but not marijuana? It is not chemically addictive, unlike the meds currently legal such as morphine, oxy, ativan, xanax, other benzodiazapines, steroids, ect. It is a fraction of the cost of those other meds. And me personally like to actually know whats going on instead of being so drugged that I have weeks that I dont remember (not because of abuse, that is from doc ordered doses while in the hospital of morphine and ativan. literally, weeks that I dont remember)

Yeah for all uses including recreational. It is a hell of alot safer than alcohol or tabacco the only reason the government doesnt legalize it is because it would crush the black market which the government is a part of.

Yes. Hemp, if it were used industrially, would be very, very good for our economy. It also has heaps of medically uses (as you ve listed), and is actually much, much better for your overall health than the abovetheinfluence propaganda would like you to think.

Yeah, should definitely be legalised. It s a lot better than alcohol, alcohol is used in cough syrups etc, but alone it has no medical use. It is actually a depressant.

yeah for sure.... i smoke every day and here in california we already have it legal for industrial and medical use. The only reason the government hasn t allowed it is because they dont know how to tax it.

I would hope that the public could be convinced this is a good idea. The war on drugs is a bigger failure than the mes-0-potamia boondoggle.

Of course!!!! My mom use to work in housekeeping at a hospital, and she told us that the cancer patients are given marijiana cigaretts to relax them and to help patients eat.

yes I would legalize marijuana for medical purpose s.

I would just ignore the stupid laws, if everyone had one plant growing it would render the law unworkable.

Yes.

Male teen weight loss problems? -

alright, so the summer before last i started this weight loss thing (i was 13 and 220 lbs). I did lose 10 pounds, but then stayed at 210 for a long time. the next summer i gained some back before it (like up to 215), but then lost down to 204. then like 2 months ago i started losing a little more weight (like 5 pounds). i was doing it healthy too. but over easter, i gained a lot. i was at like 203 before, then i gained like 5 pounds over easter, then like 2 lately, so the scale now reads 210, 208 sometimes. i dont have a gym membership anymore, and i find it hard to find the time and motivation to work out. I know the motivation is to look good and lose weight, but im in a rut right now. I already know i need to drink lots of water and eat fruits and fibers. and i know i need to make my diet more strict, especially since im pre-hypertension and need to cut as much salt as possible. im not like huge, because i have muscles, but i still need to lose about 40 pounds now. any help please?

Well it sounds like you know what to do, and I m so glad you know how to do it the healthy way, and not like some girls your age who think quot;dietquot; means don t eat and you lose weight. I don t know what to tell you except, KEEP IT UP you are doing great. ~Do you have stairs in you house? Walk up and down them repeatedly, just to get your heart-rate up. Maybe for 1/2 hour if mom and dad will let you. Do it once a day, and I bet you notice a difference. Or if they say no, go for a walk outside everyday after school. And if it s bad weather, ask if you can do the stairs thing. ~Good luck, you can do it. And I know what it is to have a hard time getting motivated. I m 33 and mom of 3. Not overweight, but out of shape. I do not exercise. I ve had a Yoga DVD for 2 years and did it only ONE time. Sooo I bet you re doin better than me. :))

Start running everyday. My friend used to weigh 220 and now he weighs 160, cause he ran every day for 30 min from June to January.

Is it possible...please read! (Heart disease and PH)? -

I was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension four years ago. I was diagnosed with Restrictive Cardiomyopathy 18 years ago. I have lead a relatively normal life; always believing I was different, couldn t tolerate exercise, etc. A couple of years ago I became pregnant. Everything went well (I hardly had any morning sickness) and I ended up delivering prematurely because the placenta matured, but thank God both the baby and I came out fine; he is healthy, I had an emergency C-Section with general anesthesia and everything went well. I am grateful for this blessing. I have read that it is very unlikely to survive with any of those two conditions, let alone both. I guess I m just wondering if there has been a case where either of those conditions have gotten better on their own (I have never taken medication) or if it possible to be misdiagnosed for so many years. I ve tried to find people in similar situations but no such luck. Any feedback or opinions??

Congradulations on the blessing of motherhood. I have never heard of anyone with a diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension without being prescribe medication. I agree with the others in that your must absolutely get a second opinion from a physician that is certified in cardiac with a specialty in pulmonary medicine. I will also send up prayers for your health.

Congratulations on motherhood ... being a father of three beautiful girls I know what a blessing it is. Why dont you get a second opinion ... for your peace of mind. I wish you the best .... I ll pray for your continued strength and a favorable diagnostic workup ... God Bless You!

Maybe you have just had a blessing in disguise... cherish every moment and don t take anything for granted... you may have been misdiagnosed... get a second... third or even fourth.. opinion before you start taking medicine... good luck to you!!!

I, awoke one morning about three weeks ago with trouble breathing, so, I went to see the Doctor.? -

The Doctor prescribed antibiotics, and said I had swollen Bronchials, but each day passed I got worse, went to the Emergency Room and got more medicines, still could not breathe right, went to another Doctor more Medicines and he said I had an enlarged Heart, and Hypertension, more medicines, finally I started to feel myself getting swollen from my knees to the feet, and also my face. Went to the Emergency room and more medicines prescribed, If there is someone who can really tell me what is wrong with me, I would appreciate it much. My guess is that some medicines were not meant for me,and I got a bad reaction from it. Now I have to go and see a Heart surgeon, since as they said I have a big Heart the size of a Grapefruit. if someone can tell me what to do I would be most grateful.

Sounds like classic Congestive Heart Failure. Do a google search and read up on it. Send me a message if you have any other questions.
