I have hypertension thats high blood pressure can i take epherdrin to help lose weight and not worry to much? -

if you have high blood pressure is it ok to take epherdrin to help to lose weight. At the mo i weigh 15 stone and am 5;10 tall i run half marathons/fell runs long walks go the gym 3/4 times a week using medium to light weights and teech martial arts twice a week

NO! Read the label.

Don t take anything without consulting your gp some drug combinations can have terrible results and to loose weight just cut down on what u no you should not eat and i am sure u will see steady results

REALLY BAD IDEA. Losing an extra pound or two versus risking having a stroke, Hmmmm let s see. Talk to your doctor. The only quot;diet aidquot; I know of you could take would be decaffeinated green tea.

No, ephedrine is used to increase blood pressure (one of it s known side effects) and is not considered save for someone with hypertension. With your activity schedule and dedication, I don t see why you d need to use it.

No you can t it will elevate your BP and is thus potentially dangerous. It is unlikely that any pills will contribute to sustained weight loss. Evidence is this can only occur with a combination of calorie reduction and regular exercise.

no do not take nothing with ephedrine in it,it may cause your blood pressure to rise.also read the laels on all diet drugs check the amount of salt in them.

As you have High Blood Pressure you should avoid stimulants like those in ephadrin. Perhaps you may be better off with a stimulant free diet pill like Leptropin? Though it is advised you consult your health advisor before using any supplement.

NO! Absolutely not. Stop it right now. By taking that medication you are increasing already high blood pressure. Add to that the fact that you then go and exercise, which increases your blood pressure even more, and you could be looking at possible kidney damage, heart attack, and stroke. This is the reason they banned that stuff in the first place. The only way to lose fat healthily is proper diet and exercise. Interestingly enough, those two things will help with your hypertension too. Look at the ads for every weight loss gimmick out there. quot; This gimmick in conjunction with proper diet and exercise will help you lose weight.quot; That should tell you something right there. Save yourself some money and just do the diet and exercise part. And none of these diets with the names of some dead doctor or geographic region on them. Just follow the food pyramid. If you are exercising, your body will need fuel, so fuel it. Just do it right. Food pyramid. In your case a DASH diet would be appropriate as long as your doctor OKs it. You need to talk to your doctor about a diet and exercise regimen that is right for you before you do anything else. So cut the Ephedrin and go see your doctor.

one of the most dangerous side effects of ephedra is raising blood pressure, it has been known to be fatal. you use it knowing you have hypertension, make out your will first.

hey Epherdrin has lots of side effects. I would strongly suggest you to not take it. If you want to lose weight you could start by eating food that has less calories and less fat. You could Dr Bernstein clinic it is quick way to lose weight. Since i already went to the clinic and lost 10 lbs. I could certainly give you some pointers. You could email me at mansibedi@yahoo.com. Thanks a lot

White coat hypertension? Or high BP? -

I m a commercial pilot amp; so I have to go under frequent medical tests. I am fit in all other physical aspects to perform duties of a pilot except when I am facing this problem of sudden rise in my blood pressure when someone measures it wid the BP instrument. I have gone through certain 24hour ambulatory BP monitoring tests amp; they show a normal graph of 120/80 readings. They say i have quot;white coat hypertension problemquot; how can i get rid of this? I excercise 2-3 times a week. Anything else could help me? please suggest any medications if any. I appreciate your sugestions thanks!

Doctors call that quot;white coat syndromequot; and it is for real...this rise in blood pressure is due to being a first time patient and meeting a new person who happens to be a doctor..this happens even if you have normal BP because your heart senses your anxiousness and that raises your BP...also if you smoke a cigarette right before you go into the docs office to calm your jitters or butterflies your BP will go up immediately...it took me many visits before I finally got use to being in those surroundings..it will go away after you get use to it

white coat hypertension means you get hypertensive when you are about to have your blood pressure done, as the 24 hour test showed you have a normal bp, it means it increases due to the anxiety of being in the doctors and having bp done. therefore you don t need to worry x

Is it normal to faint when you have high blood pressure? Why? -

I have hypertension but keep fainting or feeling very faint. I thought it was related to low blood pressure?? any real answers would be appreciated!

Conditions that interfere with the parts of the nervous system that regulate blood pressure and heart rate. These conditions include diabetes, alcoholism, malnutrition and amyloidosis (in which waxy protein builds up in the tissues and organs). If you take certain high blood pressure medications, which act on your blood vessels, you may be more likely to suffer from fainting. If you are dehydrated, which may affect the amount of blood in your body and, thus, your blood pressure, you may be more likely to faint.

when you have high blood pressure problems with combination of other heart problems, your blood pressure will change quickly depending upon your position. say you get up too quickly or you lay down and sit up. it will also change depending on the temp of the room like if you went from hot environment to air condition. because of several factors, your blood pressure will change and possibly drop for a few minutes to hours causing lack of oxygen to the brain and feeling faint.

No, fainting is never a normal thing. See a doctor.

Is it true that 90% of hypertension problems are a mystery? -

Yes - it s called Essential Hypertension, and the cause is not known.

Actually, researchers at leading medical universities know the cause. But it can t be patented, so the nation s drug reps don t talk to doctors about it. The reps themselves are probably ignorant of it. Did you know that 17 cheerleaders from the University of Kentucky s national championship cheerleading squad were hired to be drug reps? For most people, nitric oxide will lower high blood pressure. The main source of nitric oxide is arginine, an amino acid. Four to six grams a day is all it takes, and after a few months the dosage can be reduced gradually to a fraction of the original dosage. Good luck and be well. Kelley

Need prescription for hypertension. Unemployeed and no insurance.? -

Is there any physician out there that could possibly get me a prescription for hypertension medication. No insurance and unemployeed. Will start work April 3,2006. I don t have any medication at all.

My suggestion...seek out a free clinic in your area. There is a Salvation Army Clinic in my town...see if there is anything like that in yours. They can provide you with some meds. Also, once you know what to take, call the company that makes it and they may give it to you for free as a part of their charity program. They do it for PR purposes, but you will benefit. No doctor on this forum or anywhere else is going to write you a prescription without seeing you first (you have the medical lawsuit situation in this country to thank for that)...Good luck!

1-888-get meds. They take your application on the phone to see if you qualify for low income then they deliver it to you.

call the DR you currently see and tell them u have no medication.....I am sure they d give you samples to get u through the month, that s what they are for!!!

Try PPA or Aztra-Zeneca.

Most hospitals have to see you regardless of Insurance and they could give you samples. There are websites that you can buy medicine from but I think you would be safer to seek help at the local emergency room or urgent care center. It would probably cost you more out of pocket to buy the medicines online too. Most prescription drug compaines now offer free medicines to though who can t afford them....good luck!

Hypertension Case Study? -

Before you read this. I just need some people s opinion or answers because I m trying to do a research for my class. I m majoring in nutrition so what anyone can do to help me, I would really appreciate it a lot. Thank you. Heidi and Bob have been married for 40 years. Heidi has been in and out of the hospital in the past year. Last year, she had a heart attack and required a coronary artery bypass. Heidi was told to take the salt shaker off the table at that time. Six months ago, she was diagnosed with hypertension. Now the doctor has told Heidi she has to follow a dash diet. The dietitian has met with Heidi and has given hm the assignment to write down what he eats on a typical day. Heidi s list follow: Breakfast: eggs, bacon, toast, and tomato juice OR instant oatmeal with fruit, coffee with cream Lunch: canned soup and crackers with coffee OR a sandwich of lunch meat with chips and a pickle, coffee with cream Dinner: canned vegetables with butter, ham steak with gravy, potato with sour cream, green salad with dressing, dessert of ice cream or popcorn Heidi also told the dietitian that on Bob s bowling night, she just prepares a frozen dinner in the microwave. 1. What do you know about Heidi s food choices? 2. What are the main topics to teach Heidi about her new diet? Who else needs to learn those topics with her? 3. Re-write a one day diet for Heidi, keeping in mind her food preferences. 4. What cooking tips would help Bob make the new diet appealing as well as healthy?

I have been studying the body and nutrition since the age of 30, I am now 74. I found out I needed to change my eating habits which were making me ill. First I eleminated most red meats, used chicken and fish. To white flour in baking I added raw wheat gern, used raw honey instead of sugar. Did research on vitamins and added that to my eating practice. Within months I started to feel much better. I stayed away from processed foods and ate fresh vegetables. salads and fresh fruit. Did not drink soda or coffee, manly good water and some natural juices. The body needs natural food, not processed which is loaded with salt and preservatives.

Sweetie -- if you are majoring in nutrition, you really need to know this stuff. This is the basics of your field. You have to do your own homework - it is cheating for people to give you the answers. I will give you a bit of advise. Look up what the dash diet is first of all - that is the diet that your patient needs to follow. Second - go to the grocery store and look at what Heidi eats - what is in the canned foods, lunch meat, butter/gravy/sour cream, etc.. and then compare that with what she needs to be eating. Good luck

Did anyone buy actually the program of christian goodman and tried it for himself? -

did anyone try the christian goodman method to lower hypertension?there must be someone who bought this training,is it really working?

Not recommended.

How do I start a fitness program? -

I am 32 years old with hypertension. I have never been active but i am getting older and I have a son so I want to get in shape an loose about 50 pounds. I always start out too fast and then give up. Anyone have a suggestions so I will start slow so I do not injure myself and give up for a monthagain, but still feel like i am doing something? I have lost 50# with weight watchers in the past but I smoked to keep my metabolism up. Any good diets and metabolism boosters with out indgredients that will raise blood pressure more?

Go to a reputable gym or fitness centre and talk to one of the fitness counselors. They have had special training in how to help people stay on a program. Starting out gung ho is a common problem and one that frequently results in people hurting themselves and giving up. You ve already experienced that. So get help from someone who knows exactly what steps you should be taking. Good gyms or fitness salons aren t really that expensive when you figure out what you are getting for the money. Certified trainers, all the equipment you need, encouragement, a sensible program and a guaranteed result if you stick with it. Good for you for losing fifty pounds. That s a pretty great start! Smoking doesn t do anything to boost your metabolism, though. Once you get into your fitness regime, you ll find that cutting down on the cigarettes will improve your wind and your endurance enormously. I know, I ve been there and done that. Good luck to you!

Thank you. I ll be looking forward to a note on Yahoo in about eight months time that you have achieved your goal and you re feeling great -- right in time to get a whole new wardrobe for springtime! You go girl! Report Abuse

Start by visiting your general practitioner.

First talk to your doctor. And start yourself on a routine. It s got to be something you will like doing. If you like being outside go for regular walks, bike ride etc. If you don t really care find a local gym, yoga studio or get some workout tapes. (Don t invest in equipment unless you are really going to stick to it and now what you want). If you can afford it I strongly suggest that you join a gym and work out with a trainer. They will work with you on your diet as well as show you proper form and keep you on your goals. Once you are comfortable in the gym and doing exercises you don t have to stick with the trainer. Most important set and write down your goals. Display them if you have to with a picture of your son next to them to remind you what you are working towards and why. If it s hard for you to stick with something, I think its best to work in physical activity first and make slow changes to your diet. First change stop drinking calories or limit the calories you drink. Example, soda, coffee with cream and sugar and fruit juices. Replace it with water and tea or limit the cream and sugar. Depending on how much you drink you can cut 500 calories from your diet just by not drinking them. Work in weight training to increase your metabolism. This will have a big impact on the amount of calories you burn even while you are sleeping and help to improve your success.

go to trainer

Open up next to McDonalds.

Have you tried South Beach diet? I lost 35 lbs and since the diet was initially created for heart patients to lose weight quickly to have surgery it keeps your cholesterol in check as well. I went to my doctor and he was AMAZED at my test results that came back from the cardiologist. As far as starting and exercise program. It is simple but it works for people like us that have a hard time getting started. WALK AS FAR AS YOU CAN and then turn around and walk back home ....You gotta get back home right? Well? You ll be surprised at how fast you ll be able to pick up the pace and the length of your walks in no time at all. Once you have developed a new energy level from the walking regiment you can then move on to other things like Booty Ballet (fun)and other programs. Good luck!

green tea and start walking

Start with a physical check up then move on from there.

Hypertension???What are the symtoms???What are the causes??? -

hypertension is known as the silent killer, usually there are no real symptoms that point to that and nothing else. As far as causes, too much salt in the diet, too much fat in the diet, not enough exercise, and family history can all contribute to hypertension...it is one of the best reasons to have regular checkups.

Regular check ups are important. Hypertension unchecked can lead to vision problems, stroke amp; heart attack. Elevated blood pressure puts stress on the rest or your organs. Some people experience edema (swelling of the hands amp; feet), headaches, and fatigue. Most people are asymptomatic. Once diagnosed...work with your Dr. diet modification, exercise, and medication (if necessary).

Hypertension can have no symptoms, that is why regular BP checks are so important. Causes are, but not limited to, obesity, too much sodium in the diet, heredity, kidney problems and anxiety.

hypertension is severe high blood pressure. eating fatty foods being overweight smoking stress ancestry are all things that can contribute to it.

What is Pregnancy Induced Hypertension? -

Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) is a name for what is now called gestational hypertension or hypertension of pregnancy. It is defined as the development of new arterial hypertension in a pregnant woman after 20 weeks gestation. It does not normally require treatment, but is monitored closely to rapidly identify pre-eclampsia and its life-threatening complications (HELLP syndrome and eclampsia). Treatment options are limited, as many antihypertensives may negatively affect the fetus; methyldopa and labetolol are most commonly used for severe pregnancy hypertension.

What are the things that high blood pressure patients need to do in order to stay healthy? -

my mother has hypertension. she frequently complains chest pain and experiences a clogged feeling in her brain. she cries out loudly and returns to normal. what can she do to avoid these circumstances. she is a serious high blood pressure patient.

She should seek medical advice urgently, first and foremost as you probably know high blood pressure amongst other things can put you at risk from stroke or heart attack. These chest pains MUST be investigated now! I can t emphasise this enough. The best thing to do, ONCE she has been assessed and told it is safe to do, is exercise...walking at a brisk pace or swimming are the best forms of exercise. Diet is another important factor. Lots of vegetables and very little fat particularly of the meat variety...therefore, chicken without the skin, beef are better than pork or lamb or goose! Smoking is the next hazard. If she smokes, she should stop. Finding time to relax is important, not stressing out over things. I hope this helps, and I hope so makes that appointment today! Best wishes.

She need a v. low fat diet and preferably no salt - there is enough naturally present in food to meet the requirement of the body (unless she does lots of exercise and sweats alot) Might taste bland but it beats having a stroke. She should see a doctor and a dietician to get the best advice for her to bring down her blood pressure - simply going on tablets is not enough. Modified diet, gentle exercise, and trying to reduce stress levels are all part of taking responsibility for your own body

One of my friends was taking $150 a month worth of prescription blood pressure pills in order to maintain his high bp. Somebody told him about fish oil capsules. He started on them about 2 weeks ago and has cut his prescription meds in half. DO NOT take your mother off any medication. Consult her personal doctor before trying anything, but fish oil is a great natural remedy for HBP.

She should cut down on her salt intake Eat 5 portions of fruit a day and try little exercises

Exercise.....go for long walks....hiking . Cut down on oily, fatty and salty foods.....Also seek doctors advise......There are prescribed drugs that help lower BP. Good Luck

I could suggest lots of things to help, but I recommend your mother sees her doctor, or visits her local A amp; E department.

first of all she needs a doctor, she should be on medication, secondly a healthy low salt diet and exercise even just walking. Go to a doctor and they will give you the best advice. Good luck sweetie.

Medication to help her lower her blood pressure and reamining strees free is important.. I hope you realize that high blood pressure leads to strokes. PLEASE KEEPO MUM CALM.....follow the doctors advice. Make sure she takes her medication...there is nothing more you can do that that

If you want her to try out some home remedies you may perhaps wish to visit this website which I found very informative and useful. http://ailments.in/hypertension.html

First and foremost, Your mother being a serious high BP patient, should consult a good Medical Practitioner and get his advise. Other things like change in life style, exercise, food control, mental peace will contribute for the reduction of hypertension. Hypertension is a condition which needs continuous and proper treatment. If properly treated your mother can enjoy normal health. Very Best Wishes.

Go to the doctors.... they prescribe medication for hypertension. two or less for people with mild well controlled hypertension, but it sounds as though your mum could do with more! She needs to change her diet and eat very strick healthy diet, or she could have a heart attack.

How to treat hypertension without drug? -

Walk, walk, walk and do take the drugs

yoga.

Lower your salt intake, exercise and follow any recommendations that your doctor may make including taking a BP lowering drug.

Eat bananas, orange juice and any other yellow fruit rich in potassium. Exercise every day, walk aggressively. That will do it with not much drugs.

Live on a deserted island. You have to take meds that is a very serious condition.

My doctor wanted me on meds. I added coral calcium to my diet and in less than 1 week, my BP was normal - no meds required.

The best thing to do would be to talk with your physician about that one. There are vitamins and supplements that would help your blood pressure, but I hesitate to name them, because if your blood presssure is very high, you would need prescription medication, and my advice could be harmful. However, there are non medical ways to lower your blood pressure and help you to be healthier. Start some physical exercise (after checking with your doctor to make sure you are healthy enough to exercise). It can be as simple as walking around the block a few times a week. Cut down or eliminate salt and high sodium foods from your diet. Your body will still get enough salt (it doesn t need much at all) and this will have a direct effect of lowering your blood pressure. Eat healthy (fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean meats, less red meat, more fish and chicken, etc). This will increase your health significantly. Hope this helps!

try these breathing exercise ..sit up straight and take deep breaths threw your nose close your eyes hold your breath and then blow out threw your mouth these usually calmes me down, also what your diet and walk.. IF these things fail, or is your blood pressure gets too high, then you need to take medicines, sometimes that s all we can do ....good luck

What is your worry with taking medication to help control hypertension. There are several different types: Alpha Blockers, Beta Blockers, Calcium Blockers.... I have been taking anti-hypertensives for over 20 years with very little problem. My doc did switch me from the beta blocker class of meds to the alpha blocker class and I got immediate headaches. My alpha enzymes did not like to be blocked. I have since been through a kidney transplant...unrelated to the hypertensives. Please see and speak to your doctor. Write down any questions and take them with you so that you remember to ask them while you are seeing the doc. There are a few different meds that you could take that probably would not interfere with any other meds you might be taking, and you can take them, in many cases, once a day. If it is a medication that makes you tired or dizzy or any of those other signs to watch for, call your doctor s office and ask to speak to the nurse. She or he is the one that will get the docs attention. I think if you do what the doctor tells you, you will feel a whole lot better and you will make your heart work a little easier,

Are there early warning signs for hypertension, even if you have not been diagnosed with it.? -

Hypertension is simply high blood pressure. It s not something you need warning signs for, just check the number. Only quot;warning signsquot; I could imagine are lifestyle issues (high fat, high sodium diets, etc). The optimal BP is 120/80 mmHg. Acceptable BPs range from 100-140 systolic. 140-160 systolic pressure could be classified as moderately high, anything over that would be considered high. A diastolic pressure over 100 would also be severe, but it s generally the systolic number that s more of an indicator. (Systolic = bottom number, Diastolic = top number) Only way to tell if someone has hypertension is to check their blood pressure.

DENIAL

Abnominal reacting, sweating, black-outs and hidden HBP no signs.

They call hypertension the silent killer because they say there are no symptoms, but I knew some thing was wrong I became irritable, my face would flush , my heart would race , and even now after being diagnosed with hypertension I can tell when it is bothering me but some people never get any symptoms at all and you can check it at any drug store or walmart that has a bp machine., 120/80 is an awesome reading when the bottom gets close to 90 or 95 you got problems, see a doctor

Warning signs for hypertension are * Headache * Morning headache * Tinnitus * Dizziness * Confusion * Papilloedema Many people are unaware they have hypertension until it is accidentally found at a doctor visit.More details available at http://ailments.in/hypertension.html

This article will help you: The list of signs and symptoms mentioned in various sources for Hypertension includes the 11 symptoms listed below: * No symptoms - many people are unaware they have hypertension until it is accidentally found at a doctor visit or they develop complications of hypertension * Non-specific symptoms - symptoms of hypertension may be mild and vague * Headache * Morning headache * Tinnitus * Dizziness * Confusion * Papilloedema

Hypertension question.? -

Is it possible when someone who had hypertension can get rid of it by jog for 2.5km@1.5miles everyday in 2 month?

There are a lot of factors that affect your blood pressure. Your family history plays a large role as well as your diet (eg. sodium) and your weight. Exercise definitely helps blood pressure although two months seems like a short time. It does, however, depend on the severity of your hypertension. If it s very high, then two months might not be enough to to get it down to a reasonable level. BUT it depends on the individual as once again, several factors affect blood pressure. I recommend going to your family doctor and he can give you advice on what to do. If your hypertension is not controlled enough by lifestyle (diet/exercise,etc.) then your doctor can prescribe drugs that will assist in bringing your blood pressure down.

It is possible to get rid of hypertension. My father suffered with hypertension, high cholesterol, and all that good stuff. He was on meds for awhile, but he watched his diet- decreased sodium intake, ate healthier items. He also started running and exercising. Soon, he was taken off all meds and was healthy again. He is 48 (just in case you wanted to know). So, yes, it is possible to rid yourself of hypertension. I don t know about 2 months, though. Good luck with everything!

Hypertension is sometimes genetic and you can t get rid of it but others are able to get rid of it by changing their way of life. Jogging is great along with weight loss and eating lots of foods high in potassium. Check out the Dash Diet because it is recommended for people with high blood pressure.

depends on what is the cause of the hypertension. if it is a medical problem sometimes yes when the problem is found. all the other reasons most likely no.

Jogging may certainly help. There are many factors to take into account though, and without a detailed medical history, it would be harmful to provide you with medical advice in this forum. Ask your doctor. - Chad, RN

he s gonna die

How can I lower my blood pressure without medication? -

I m 26, not overweight, and have always eaten a low salt diet. I do exercise some jogging at least 20 miles a week in addition to hiking and other activities. I don t believe I m overly stressed. I ve tried cutting my salt further to below 1000mg a day to no avail. My blood pressure is 135/75 meaning I have pre-hypertension, but based on my family history, I will have hypertension at the rate I m going.

Sure you are heading in the right direction, the systolic reading is a bit high! I think it s because of excitement when the reading is being taken, to me it appears all right,I don t what others have to say. I will advise you to continue the above routine, you are doing fine OK.

Take Fish Oil Everyday, The omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to lower cholesterol and subsequently control high blood pressure. Report Abuse

pray to jesus, and he ll help you NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Try zona.com After you read all the info on the website especially quot; How it worksquot;, email me and I ll tell you how I mimicked it and reduced my bp from 149/102 to 120/78 in five weeks. All the other suggestions should also be given great consideration and possibly done in conjuction with this exercise.

It sounds like you re doing everything right. And new studies are showing that low salt diets may not help hypertension after all. If you drink caffeine, try cutting it down drastically or altogether. I recently had to skip caffeine before having my BP taken, and it was normal for the first time in ages. Your systolic BP (bigger number) is actually less of a concern than your Diastolic BP which is in the normal range. However, you could try adding more cardiovascular exercise into your routine. Before doing that though, I would consult a physician.

exercise, diet (not just low salt), and controlling stress all help. but if you ve done all of this and it continues to climb, genetics may be playing a bigger role than environment. sorry.

May i suggest vinegar 1table spoon. I swear its a natural remedy, and it works

Why is antabuse cointraindicated in hypertension? -

usually if stuff is contraindicated in hypertension, it is because the drug will raise your blood pressure. and further increased blood pressure puts the person at higher risk for aneuryisms, organ damage, heart attacks, etc (decongestants like pseudoephidrine are also contraindicated in hypertension for this reason). but that is just a guess i dont know for sure.

look someone wants me of corse darling any thing 4 u my sexy little *****!!! in case any1 didnt know beth is the best at hot pasionate sweaty long hard rough sex aND I ENJOY MORE THAN A DILDO!! I JUST CANT GET ANY PLEASURE OUT OF THOSE THINGS!!!BETH IS THE BEST!!! c u 2nite my big breasted sexy lil *****!!! i will be waiting 4 u with my legs wide open and i will make myself horny and wet then i will go 2 da loo and u can ilick dme dry!!! i wuv u more than anything!! by the way last time we did it can u remember wen i suck my head up ur fanny and u started screaming... ...well i have been streching mine and i can fit urs up there 2 so c ya in a brizzle

Antabuse is also known as disulfiram. If you take it with alcohol it can cause a severe reaction, even with small amounts contained in mouthwashes etc. These reactions include palpitations, rapid heart rate, vomiting, collapse and hypotension. Therefore not recommended if you have any cardiovascular problems.

What is the proper diatery hapits for hypertension client ? -

Consume a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy products with a reduced content of saturated and total fat. Reduced dietary Na intake to no more than 2.4g Na or 6g NaCl per day. Limit alcohol consumption to no more than 2 drinks (ex. 24 oz beer, 10oz wine, or 3oz 80 proof whiskey) per day in most men and to no more than 1 drink per day in women and lighter-weight persons Maintain normal body weight

Avoid foods that are high in salt (read the nutrition labels) or are obviously salty by nature. Salt increases fluid retention and raises the blood pressure. That is probably the biggest diet rule to follow.

low sodium is good watch stress levels

The cause of my hypertension is stress, how can I avoid stress? -

Meditate and don t let things bother you so much. If you are stressed out enough to cause hypertension, then something has to be causing the high amount of stress. Normally, it is someone s job. The good news is, if your hypertension is caused by stress, at least it s not caused by a medical condition beyond your control. You can fix this... but you need to do it soon or the doctor is going to threaten to put you on pills to treat it. Take things in stride, don t sweat the little things so much... and live by this motto... quot;It is what it is... so be it.quot; Focus on the things you can control, not what you can t. Things will be much less stressful.

My dad would just disappear, in other words remove yourself from the situation it is hard though, I am on two meds to help with mine just don t sweat the small stuff, all the best

Are there any Hypertension meds that do not cuse chronic fatigue? i was on micardis and Diovan, tired 24/7? -

Have you told your doctor about the fatigue and has he/she done any blood tests etc, to rule out any other underlying conditions? Your doctor should try a few different meds to see which one best suites you, remember many medication may have a side affect.

i ve got no idea. sorry

How to analyze the blood pressure reading? -

I recently had my bp check, it s 150/80 for two times with 1/2 hour interval and 160/90 on the third time. i do not feel something wrong with me but im afraid im having what you call as hypertension. i do not usually check and monitor my bp and i dont think i have hypertension before. i had gain 15 lbs in the last 6 months,, what do you think?

160/90 is pre-hypertension for sure. You should see a doctor if you are really concerned and or try changing you diet eating low fat foods, cut out refined sugar, salt and caffeine. Also eat lots of fruits, vegetables and drink lots of water. Then you need to get on an exercise program to strengthen your heart. Check out bodyforlife.com for an excellent program to buy into. It s a 12 week diet and exercise plan that will change your life. My bp used to be 160 over 90 and after the 12 week program I m at 106 over 72. Good luck.

Being afraid is one thing. That jacks up the pressure. It sounds like you are a candidate to be followed up for BP. Talk to your doctor. I know too many people who said that high BP naturally became them and nearly died. You don t want to follow in that path.

Taking your blood pressure so close together along with worry could cause an inflated number. Also the arm the pressure was taken on and who was taking the pressure may have something to do with it. If your normal blood pressure at previous checkups was this high and your doctor is not concerned I would try to relax. The bottom number is the amount of pressure in the vessels when the heart is at rest. The closer to 100 this number is the more dangerous. Check with your doctor, avoid salty foods and exercise with a doctor s supervision. Most of all try to relax

What are the symptoms for hypertension? -

Q: What are the signs and symptoms of hypertension (high blood pressure)? A: Although some people with high blood pressure have symptoms, such as headaches or dizziness, most people with high blood pressure have no signs or symptoms at all. That is why it is so important to have your blood pressure checked regularly by your healthcare provider. This is especially important if you are someone who is at higher risk for hypertension. If you have already been told that you have high blood pressure, it is important to have your blood pressure checked regularly by your healthcare provider to make sure that it is staying controlled. moderate increase in blood pressure does not usually cause any noticeable symptoms. Severely elevated (raised) pressure may result in headaches, increase in heart rate (palpitations), and a general feeling of tiredness and ill-health. There are usually none, which is why it is called the silent killer.

Hypertension - Is in simple terms a condition where your Blood pressure rises above the normal 120/80 reading. Symptoms usually are - Headaches, pain or discomfort in the neck (usually at the joint between the skull and neck), giddiness (if the BP is too high), prone to temper, irritation, edgyness. Simple way to know if you are suffering from hypertension is to get your BP checked, or use an electronic meter to check it for yourself. Do it monthly once (when you are not under stress), if you record high BP for more than 3 months then you should contemplate medicines. Hope it Helps (I am not in the medicine profession - but a patient myself.) :)

high blood pressure can be a symptom..

Is taking candesartan, coenzyme Q10 amp; simvastatin everyday for a year for hypertension and atherosclerosis? -

candesartan 6am coenzyme q10 noon simvastatin 9pm everyday for a year...is this safe?

Good quality Q10 is good for your heart and can reduce your blood pressure.

both aterosclerosis is caused by plaque build up which narrows the passage way for blood to flow which increases the blood pressure the candesartan is for blood pressure and the simvastin is to lower cholesterol prevent futher narrowing or complete occlusion of blood vessels

Hi. Think of it this way: - candesartan is a blood-pressure reduction medication. - simvastatin is an quot;artery clean-upquot; medication, keeping the arteries clean by lowering cholesterol levels. The drugs in the quot;statinquot; family are the latest line of defence that medicine came up to fight high cholesterol and they seem to be doing a pretty good job at it. - conezyme Q10 is more like a vitamin that helps the function of the heart and circulatory system. It can actually make your heart pump more efficiently, thus reducing blood pressure. This looks pretty much safe to me. Remember that treatment for those diseases is/can be a lifetime challenge. Those drugs HAVE to be safe before everything. Hope this helps. Good luck. Bogdan Vulcan

Why and how does hyperglycemia makes CVA worse? -

where can i also find an article about hypertensive cardiovascular disease? i couldn t find it in the library. i only found an article about hypertension in the book. is HCVD and hypertension the same?

It is a complicated process and I am not sure there is a consensus answer to your question. Here are a couple of thoughts, though. Hyperglycemia changes the way we process cholesterol and triglycerides. It increases the likelihood of forming significant plaques in the artery. Plaques are what ruptures often causing an embolic or thromboembolic blockage - causing the stroke. (80-90 percent of strokes are ischemic rather than hemorrhagic) The inflammatory process also is affected by hyperglycemia. We have observed that plaques are more irritable and therefore more likely to rupture compared with someone who did not have hyperglycemia. Try going to quot;Pub Medquot; for scientific journal articles briefs. If the articles are too advanced or abstract for your needs, try sites like WebMD. Many hospital sites have information too. Consider visiting the Mayo clinic s site, for instance. Hypertension can cause complications in places other than the heart (which is what CV disease implies). It can affect the kidneys, reproductive function, eyes, stroke (brain), and the vessels themselves - aneurysms and vessel dissections for example. So hypertensive CVD implies - impaired cardiac function due to hypertension. Congestive heart failure and dilated cardiomyopathy are the most common complications.

Hyperglycemia causes the red blood cells to become glycosylated or sticky with sugars. This effects the circulation because the blood cells will stick to each other and to the walls of blood vessels. So you can see how it could make vascular disease worse.

Have you ever used a breathing technique for your high blood pressure? -

I m 45 and have started using meds for hypertension (150/89). I hate taking meds for this and would like something more natural. I wondering about using deep breath technique to help lower it. Anyone tried this before? If so did it help?

I know that Deep Breathing causes the heart to beat more slowly therefore it must affect blood pressure. Basically, breath deeply through your nose and exhale through your mouth slowly but steadily. I do this every time I have heart palpitations or any chest pain. It helps but it doesn t prevent it from happening. I am on Metoprolol Tartrate for SVT/POTS and for unbalanced blood pressure.

Hypertension or Hypotension? -

I have a condition called inappropriate sinus tachycardia which occasionally causes me to faint. Along with this illness I get high blood pressure. Last time I fainted someone I work with said that when I had landed she could see my veins pulsing. I always though that my blood pressure dropped prior to a faint as I go dizzy, very pale and get a kind of tunnel vision. Iam now unsure whether my blood pressure is high or low before I go down. Is it possible for it to drop then come back up very suddenly. Any help gratefully received..

The answer to this unfortunately involves talking about cardiac physiology. Blood pressure is a combination of cardiac output and your systemic vascular resistance of your arterial blood vessels. Cardiac output is made up of your heart rate multiplied by your stroke volume (the amount of blood that is ejected per beat). Your stroke volume is effected by something called venous return. Venous return is the blood that flows back into your heart from the venous blood system. Definitions over, on with the explanation. Your sinus tachycardia will cause your cardiac output to fall. This is because your heart is beating to quickly to let it fill in between each contraction. Your blood pressure will fall as your cardiac output is low. You faint because you have reduced blood flow to your brain. When you hit the ground your venous return will increase as more blood will be available to your heart. When you are standing the blood in your legs finds it hard to get back to your heart, but when you are lying down it doesn t have to overcome the force of gravity. Your veins pulse because you have an increased venous return. In summary, you will have hypotension when you faint and your pulsing veins are not an indication that your blood pressure is high but that your venous return is. Incidently the drugs that you are taking for your hypertension may not be helping. It might be worth seeing your GP to find out if these are still necessary.

Blood pressure and pulse is two things that will never stay the same if taken again right after another. Yes, your blood pressure may had dropped to cause you to faint. Right after that, it could of gone up to cause you to wake. I hope you re being treated for this. It could be serious. It also could be the cause of medications if you re on any

Depending on the person, a blood pressure can do that , My bloodpressure tends to go up if i have a pain or even an intense itch, and go down right afterwards, So , you would have to take it when you come to , to see which it did. have it taken when your beginning to feel dizzy to see if it goes up or down, I would think it would go down first,

It s possible for your blood pressure to drop and rise again as you described. There is a POSSIBLE greater problem that needs immediate attention. Go to a fire station nearby for now. Tell them of the problems you re experiencing. Here in the US, the fire department checks blood pressure free. I would go for another consult---respectfully, with the symptoms you re describing, waiting until October is too long.

Asking question such as very serious in Yahoo, why don t you consult Doctors.

I had hypertension, and its gone.? -

I had it for 2 years, and it s gone now. Can I stop taking medicine? It has been 4 months since I last take my medicine. Everything seems OK now.

Your BP is lowered and within normal range because of your anti-hypertensive medication. The problem with essential hypertension is that generally medication is needed for the rest of your life to manage it and keep it within normal range. Chances are if you stopped taking it, your BP would rise again. Certainly do not discontinue any mediation without speaking to your Doctor first.

When you stop the medicine, hypertension may come back. Hypertension is a silent killer. You may check the functions of the kidney(for microalbuminuria, creatinine), heart (for hypertrophy) and retina (for hypertensive retinopathy) periodically.

I certainly would not recommend coming of medication without first discussing this with your Doctor. How do you know it s away? Have you had your blood pressure checked regularly? Speak to your Doctor

talk to your doctor. It can be dangerous to stop medication.

yeah you re cured Hallelujah!!!!

Why do my hypertension medication makes me so sleepy? i take clonidine, cardizem, and HCT? -

I m with you. I m on .3 of clonidone twice a day and Lopressor twice a day. While I am glad not to have the extreme high blood pressure and pulse pounding in my body all the time, I wish I had more energy. But we have to stay on the medication! Not taking it can severely damage the heart--uncontrolled high blood pressure and pulse rates put too much stress on your arteries.

You might want to ask your doctor for another medication than Clonidine! I had very serious side effects with that drug to which others have reported the same results. My doctor switched me to Atenolol and the symptoms disappeared!

it makes you sleepy because it has calming agents in it. p.s. your grammar leaves much to be desired. the correct way to ask this question in english would be: quot;why DOES my hypertension medication MAKE me so sleepy. quot;

Essential hypertension.if i control it with drugs? -

if it s essential ,does that mean i need it,so if i control it did i defeat the purpose.i expect the body is trying to get blood where it is needed,so if i take drugs then i am starving maybe vital organs of blood.or does essential mean something else?

Well, It means nothing more than quot; most people have it, and it is not attributable to any specific explainable cause.quot; - and that it isn t one the so-called quot;other kindsquot; -like Secondary, or quot;isolatedquot;. Other names for it are primary or age-related ... The word quot;essentialquot; in this sense is gobbledegook , - What the doctors are struggling to say is quot;we don t know what causes it, why it happens to some people and not others, ....- there s a lot of it about, and we got to classify it. Since it seems very ordinary, let s call it quot;essentialquot;. There s absolutely no more to it than that. All nonsense of course, - you can safely ignore it, because it exists only in the minds of the medical profession, who don t understand how the cardiovascular system works. Quite simply, The human heart develops the same pressure (well, pretty well, that is) whether you re young, or old, or fit or sclerotic... The silly assertion that quot;the heart has to generate higher pressure to drive the blood round as your arteries harden with agequot; is absolute tosh and piffle.. It doesn t. There is not a shred of evidence to support this silly concept. High BP readings at the upper arm are completely illusory. Such readings are bound to rise, with age, but the higher readings aren t caused by higher pressures generated by the heart. Honestly! Forget it, and don t take the pills and potions! (Especially beta-blockers). EDIT: Renato, - Please don t misunderstand me, The readings are there, and higher in older people, but they simply aren t true readings of the pressures developed by the heart to drive the blood round. Yes, the monitor readings rise, but this isn t because the heart develops higher pressure. It s because in the young, the greater elasticity of their arterial walls absorb roughly half of the developed pressure. So it SEEMS their pressures are lower. But in fact central aortic pressures measured invasively are roughly equal in both young and old. And Oh I forgot. .. , and while you re thinking about thisquot; , can I ask you to ponder how a mean arterial pressure of 93 mms/Hg (indicated by a monitor employing auscultation at the brachial -or radial- artery) can drive 5000ccs of blood round a vascular loop whose TPR is 0.02 mms.Hg/cc/min? - bearing in mind, of course, that Pm = CO x TPR... as you ll no doubt be familiar with, in view of your kind comments EDIT: Upon re-reading the above it seems it may be construed as sarcasm , and I assure you,- it isn t. I m in deadly earnest, and most sincere EDIT: -Renato, Thank you for your posting. The difficulty with your conjecture is that in the whole of medical history no evidence has ever been found or recorded, of any rise in TPR associated with the aging process. Quite the reverse in fact. Studies designed to investigate the relationship between the two have concluded that there is none. The TPR of an aged sclerotic is almost the same as a juvenile s. The significance of this is quite fundamental, in that if the received wisdom on hypertension were to be correct (which it clearly isn t) then increasing driving pressure would result in increasing CO if TPR remains essentially constant. (Darcy s Law).... But it doesn t.?We all circulate the same total systemic flow,-within finite small variations.

well, reading Mrs Doubtfire answer is quite interesting, I will resign my first thought of saying quot;what a crazy person would say thisquot; because I think she is not kidding, and she is serious. I will try to think a little bit over this. I do accept that there are a bunch of phenomena that only exists on the minds of the medical profession (and mainly on the minds of the pharmaceutical industry) as the cholesterol issue, the osteoporosis problem or the need of the quot;prozac nationquot;. But from there to say that high BP readings on your arm are completely illusory, I certainly doubt it. There is plenty of epidemiological evidence linking (from a hundred years ago to the date) high blood pressure with cardiac, cerebral vascular, kidney and other problems, I would say that from the many diseases (real or commercial) that man has found, hypertension is one of the most documented but being true also that the label quot;hypertensive patientquot; is as dangerous as the disease itself, I wouldn t dare to oversee its dangers. Finally tholeeder, quot;essentialquot; hypertension simply refers to that kind of hypertension to which there has not been found a cause (is not renal, is not cardiac nor vascular), just the one that appears in life with no apparent reason. And, yes, indeed, you don t need it. EDIT; Mrs Doubtfire, certainly I was right when thinking you were serious, and I am glad to have read your kind response (which I do appreciate). Now, certainly the mean pressure of ejection of the left ventricle remains constant (near constant) through all the life, is the periferal pressure (the one we meassure with the monitor in the brachial art) what worries us the most, in other words, is not the pressure in the heart (CO) the one that starts the phenomena seen in hypertension but the rising of the periferal resistance (TPR), so, when it raises, backwards it will damage the heart (in a retrograde way I mean), so finally, the heart will have to raise its ejection pressure in order to overcome that periferal resistance, and as the heart can t do it always, that will lead us to a lower CO, and cardiac failure. And that is the moment when you wouldn t use beta blockers, not before. Finally Tholeeder, the meaning of the word essential is very well explained by Mrs Doubtfire on her first paragraph. Is quot;in the escencequot; of the person that hypertension develops, and certainly, not being the most appropiate term, it helps understand that is the kind of hypertension without known cause.

Essential hypertension is medical term to describe a particular type of hypertension. There are several forms; this is one of them. And, no, you don t need it. Just consult your dr and take the medicines as prescribed.

Dieting helps lower cholesterol. Eat less animal fat amp; don t eat before bed.

4) What effects does positive pressure ventilation have upon the cardiovascular system? -

A) Reduced venous return which leads to a reduction in cardiac output. B) An increase in cardiac ouptut and venous return. C)Hypertension and an increase in systemic vascualr resistance. D) It does not have any significant effects.

Talk about hardball questions! Med or CRNA student? It can increase CO in CHF patients with Cheyne Stokes Respirations with central sleep apnea, but has no effect in those without. Also of note is that it can decrease blood pressure and CO, but I don t know if that is BECAUSE of venous return. I don t know this one.

A) Reduced venous return which leads to a reduction in cardiac output. Positive pressure ventilation leads to an increase in intrathoracic pressures which results in a decrease in cardiac output and mean arterial pressure.

A) Reduced venous return which leads to a reduction in cerdiac output.

Like everyone else...A

Should I be worried if my blood pressure is 163 over 97? When does it go into hypertension? -

140 over 90 is considered high,, u r looking for 120 over 70,, u need to seek medical attention,, thats why they call high blood pressure the silent killer,, please see your doctor right away,,if your numbers are continually high

read this, go to see doctor. How do you know your blood pressure is 163? It is a bit too high and you need to do some thing

The old limit, 120/80, is even too high for most doctors these days. I would say if your BP is consecutively high like this, it would be considered hypertension and you may need to be put on a low dose antihypertensive. See your doc, but don t be scared. Keep it under control and you ll be fine. It s all too common.

of couse . as of know there s no normal limit given for bloodpressure but studies show most fall around 120-130 any above 140(systolic) amp; 90(diastolic ) is cosidered hypertension amp; above 160 is moderate hypertension if u r fat i would advise u to go for morning walks, exercises , restrict salt (5 g/day), fatty diet monitor ur BPperiodically approach ur family dr

You should be concerned about your blood pressure. They look higher than they should be. Go see a doctor about it and ask for advice. But you may like to try the exercises that make you sweat because sweating lowers your blood pressure. You should ask your doctor which exercises are good for you though. Good luck and take care.

hyper is over 120/80, but now doctors recommend even lower than that. is that the BP in your erect penis, cause thats pretty high

You have stage 1 hypertension, borderline stage 2. See a doctor!!

No doubt, you are already in the hypertension zone. But it also depends on age; the older we grow, the higher the BP goes and it is called essential hypertension. You appear to have detected your hypertension well in time. It was time to act: Of course you need to visit heart specialist. In the meanwhile as well later on take care of: 1). reduce your weight if it is on higher side. 2). quit smoking if you are. 3). take regular exercise--brisk walk is the easiest thing to do. 4). abondon high cholesterol-food; fast food is the worst. Start using unsaturated fat for cooking like soya cooking oil or olive oil. Take a lot of vegetables especially the green leafy ones. Don worry much. The problem of hypertension is a very common one and you are not alone. Apart from some medicine that your doc will recommend, follow a healty life style. You will be fine very soon. Best luck.

Yes, you ve got a good reason to be worried. Get to a doctor ASAP so you can start figuring out how to control that. Good luck!

blood pressure is 163 over 97 is this a constant reading ? It is high taking in high amounts of salts shoots the BP way up there also drinking makes it go up... Only your Dr will know for sure. And you didn t give your age ?

140/90 is the line. See you cardiologist

U r a hypertensive.

You should be on meds and or loose weight.

Hypertension is defined numerically as any pressure of 160/100 or greater. And yes you should be worried because HTN leads to other more serious medical conditions

Yes, you should be worried. Normal blood pressure readings should be at or below 120 over 80.

you have some hypertension already.

You are officially hypertensive (if it is consistently that high). But there s plenty you can do for yourself before you go popping pills (check with your doc first, of course) to reduce your high blood pressure. I ll paste the links to some good info below. Good luck with it.

Heart attack stroke organ failure that kind of stuff

Normal blood pressure is 120/80, so you are definitely in pre-hypertension if not hypertension itself. Your BP is too high. You should consult a doctor. Lots of times it can be controlled with diet and exercise, but you really need to talk to a professional.

You need to see a doctor - you re at Stage 1 - any higher and you could be in serious trouble !!!

yeah that doesnt sound good.

Sounds like you already have hypertension. You should see your doctor right away and get on some meds to lower your blood pressure. High blood pressure affects your whole body - especially your vision.

If are more one day ,you need to see a doctor very serious

You are already there! You need to see a doctor. If you have not began already, you may have headaches, loss or blurred vision and so much more. Please get checked out, the average norm is 120/80.

140/90 is borderline for hypertension

Drink Arjun tea and you will be safe for life time, www.planetayurveda.com

What could shooting pains in the right foreleg mean? -

The one with the pains is a 65 year old woman who has mild hypertension (controlled by medication), and is otherwise healthy. She had a total knee replacement surgery a couple of years ago, and doesn t think that the shooting pains have anything to do with her leg bones or the prosthesis (knee implant).

It means you should definitely consult your physician. Shooting pains are generally associated with nerve problems. Something could have pinched a nerve or similar to that. But your best corse of action is to see your doctor.

Where exactly is the foreleg?

I HAD THAT BUT IT WENT FROM MY BUTT DOWN TO MY HEEL , IT HAPPENED BECAUSE I HURT MY BACK BADLY AT WORK AND HAD TO GET THERAPY, THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH HER LIKE A STRAIN OR INJURY EVEN IF SHE CANT FEEL IT, TAKE HER TO THE DOC.
