What is left branch bundle block? ? -

60yowf. hx. sob, hypertension, cholesterol @238. walk 2 mi. no chest pain. hx. sob just feeding the cat or folding clothes. Rx. amlodipine 5mg.AM. very helpful;decreased sob. benicar 20mg.PM, levothyroxin 50mcg. Interventional Cardiologist said the left BBB is not related to the heart disease. Appt. Sept.30 for angiogram to RO blockage. Article says after 3 yrs Pt s symptoms are the same weather med. or stent tx. I am considering delaying this test as meds seem to improve sob. I can t find good info. on Left BBB. Dr. seems to ignore this. Why? Is there no tx? or; no need for tx? What kind of problems does it lead to in the future and can I prevent it? thanks.

There are two bundles of conducting cells that carry the electrical impulse to beat down into your ventricles. The electrical impulse can be delayed or blocked in one of these pathways. This is more common with diseases that affect the heart (hypertension, previous heart attack, heart failure etc.) and age. The signal just goes down the other quot;on-rampquot; which is still working. A left BBB makes your EKG very difficult to interpret with regard to diagnosing a heart attack. By itself it is not usually a problem, but can be a marker for structural heart disease. The article you are referring to is the COURAGE trial, with had to do with treating patients with stable chest pain (which you don t have and so it does not apply to you). An angiogram is a diagnostic procedure- no one is going to put a stent in you without discussing it with you first and explaining the risks / benefits. (you are awake for the procedure). If you are having second thoughts- seek a second opinion, this is always a good idea.

hope this site helps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bundle_bran...
