Im a type 1 diabetic with high blood presure and I think my kidneys are acting up-Please help!!? -

I am a type 1 diabetic with hypertension who has been seeing a kidney specialist for about 1 1/2 years now.In december of 2007 I went to the kidney dr. and my Blood urea nitrogen was 40 and my creatinine was 1.3 which they said was a little high, well I started some medications and my kidney function returned to normal, blood urea nitrogen at 18, (which is normal) and my creatinine was 0.6 which is excellent. My question is this,I ve been getting alot of backaches,my right ankle swells alot(dr.says if it is kidneys both ankles will swell),my blood pressure will go up really high and then bottom out (one morning upon waking my bp was 151/ 90 and then within 3 hours it was 80/60.I feel sick to my stomach alot and I have lost my appetite, however when I had my kidneys checked about 3 weeks ago my blood urea nitrogen was 30 which again is high (18 is the high end of normal) and my creatinine was 0.9 which is still within normal ranges (1.1 is the high end of normal). So to anyone out there who knows anyone with kidney problems could you please help me? By the way,my mom was a type 1 diabetic that died 9 years ago from kidney failure (she did not know that she had it until her kidneys completely stopped working and they started her on meds to help start her kidneys but she died before she could even start dialysis.) But everyone keeps telling me that I am not my mother and to stop worrying so much. But between the backaches and the severe headaches I can t stand the pain any longer.PLEASE HELP!!!

Go back to the doctor. You sound like you could possibly have a kidney infection. This will cause backaches, nausea and loss of appetite. Many times an infection will cause stress on the body, which in turn will cause a higher blood pressure than usual. Kidney infections can be extremely painful, I have had my share of them, but they can be treated with antibiotic. Check with your doctor asap, they are nothing to play around with.

Go back to the doctor and get everything checked. I would change your blood pressure medicine. It doesn t sound like it s working for you. I m on Lisinipril and has been a nice one. Good luck.

I am so grateful that I came across your question. I am 100% positive that I can help you. I have a few things that will get rid of your back aches without any drugs or pharmaceuticals. Nikken has a few patented magnetic products that would do miracles for your back aches: the back-flex and magsrides. Here is some great information on them: as for your headaches, there are two things that would help dramatically: peaceful sleep and good healthy water. You should avoid reverse osmosis and tap water. They are extremely acidic and would increase your tendency for headaches. PiMag water is what I would recommend: for your sleep, I would recommend that you look into this system; it s the only one in the world recommended by the World Federation of Chiropractic: on the issue of your kidneys, the PiMag water would do wonders for you, as well as Lactofferin Gold1.8 (Jade GreenZymes (and the Kenzen Detoxifying Cleanse (you have anymore questions email me and I would be happy to help you! If you would live more information or testimonials, or would like to learn where to purchase these products, feel free to email me.

Does Yoga Pranayama of Swami Ramdev cures HIV/ AIDS patients, as claimed by him in the latest Yog Sandesh? -

I quote from page 55 of the monthly magazine “Yog Sandesh” (English) September 2006 issue, of Swami Ramdev Ji’s Trust in India, “Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev while addressing the people said that Yoga amp; Pranayama have been successful in curing 200 cancer patients and he is ready to give evidence. The ancient science is also beneficial in case of AIDS and experiments are being carried out in that area. He would make formal announcement once the tests are completed”. Swami Ji said, “Till now I have completed more than ten thousand scientific experiments. The patients of diabetes, obesity, hypertension, depression, can take part in the seven-day camp and check the results on their own. They will notice 50% improvement within a week”. This magazine is available along with Yog Sandesh all the 18 Back Issues on-line at http://www.yogapranayama.com

It seems like just a claim, nothing more ! Its authencity has not been confirmed yet ! If I was you I would take it with a pinch of salt, as they say ! Take care and God Bless you !

No, it cannot. Pranayama is basically breathing and breathing-related exercises. It cannot cure diseases. It can be used to control hypertension, anxiety attacks and any breathing related problems.

Certainly can t hurt. My sister-in-law used pranayama yoga in conjunction with her chemo treatments for lymphoma. She felt she benefited from the practice.

NO! its dangerous to publish stuff like that because it doesnt cure AIDs and people will think they are cured and spread the virus more. he should be arrested in my opinion.

Thre have been no cures found for H.IV/A.I.D.S yet. They give you medication that helps from side effects you get from it and helps to stay in an H.I.V status verses having full blown A.I.D.S

I don t believe that to be true.

Blood pressure question,help please? -

My husband is 65 and in pretty good health. His blood pressure has been okay but occasionally was 130/90. Last week his pressure spiked to 210/150 and we went to the hospital. They addmited him and brought the pressure down. They did a cardiac cat scan, ultras sound of the heart, several ekg and blood tests. He was discharged and put on 25mg of metratroporal. The next day he went to his regular doctor and he put him on 50 mg. and did a kidney test. His blood pressure was fine for a few days and is now l40/95. He called the doctor and he said to take more medication. Does it take a while to regulate blood pressure? We are at a loss as to what is going on. This is our first experience with hypertension. Do you think all of the tests which came out fine, are enough? Are we missing any? Also, his stomach is upset today, does the medication do this? Should he have had a cat scan of the brain? Thank you very much.

Hello, this information isn t going to be exatly what you are looking for, but I just wanted to let you know that 90% of all HTN is primary and w/ primary HTN, there is NO KNOWN CAUSE. I d like to answer your pharmacology drug, however, I have never heard of that one and was unable to find any information on it on the web. Please check the spelling and repost. I m thinking you may have been referring to propranolol (Inderal) and I d be happy to give you information on that. In this area, it is a common medication for HTN.

It often takes several days, and sometimes even several meds before BP is properly controlled. It sounds like your doc is doing the right thing. Just give it time and keep an eye on his numbers. If it goes up again call your doc....if concerned, or if he has any symptoms of headache, dizziness, vision problems, etc go to the ER. I can t see where a CT scan would do any good, unless he s had symptoms of a stroke.

You and your hubby should read the apple cider vinegar website. I used to have high b.p. until I started taking this wonderful drink. Just give it 3-4 weeks time. Also 6-8 glass of water/day to thin the blood. Kiss him for me! 2 tbls. in a glass of water 2 x day or as need. Cures depression that comes along with the medication.

Check out this site: does sometimes take time to find the right drug and the right dose of medication. Yes, medications can cause a stomach upset among other side effects. Sometimes hypertension is caused by other underlying diseases: be sure your doctor eliminates causes such as listed in this link: your doctor again and ask him the questions you pose here - don t feel that you are bothering him/her - this is your husband s life. He/she works for you. If in doubt of this doctor, get a second or third opinion. Return to the hospital if you think he needs immediate medical attention. Good luck!

go to this site it should help you http://www.bloodpressurenotice.com/

I m sorry to hear he s having problems. Metoprolol is a good medication to treat blood pressure because it can treat hypertension in spite of its cause in most cases. It sounds like they ve covered all the tests, except a morning cortisol level and a creatinine clearance test. I m not sure which kidney test was done. Was it a blood test, a urine test, or did they check his renal arteries by ultrasound or another method? If they ve done most of these then they re doing everything they can to find the cause. Yes, the medication might take a little time, and no it shouldn t make him nauseated. A brain CAT scan would be one of the last tests to run simply because the cause is less likely to be found there, and an MRI would probably be more helpful in that case. There is always the chance it s a pituitary adenoma (not cancerous), in which case a morning cortisol level would have clued them in on that problem. Try not to stress out. Increasing this medication in increments like this is common, especially when there is not a complete response to the lowest dose. Good luck. Regardless of the cause, treating it is the most important thing, and that includes diet and exercise. It sounds like you re pretty healthy already, so this shouldn t be an issue. : )

Hypertension? -

My blood pressure readings in the last 3 months is 130/105, 135/88 and 138/98 respectively. At present i am not taking any allopathic medicine. Daily i wil go for brisk walk for 45 minutes and i will do pranayama. Do i have high blood pressure? Do i need to take BP medicine regularly? Is there any home remedy to lower blood pressure level?

Your diastolic readings are a little on the high side. This is when your heart is resting between beats so it s actually more worrying than your systolic (pumping) readings which are reasonably good. Keep up the walking, watch your diet and have your doctor check your blood pressure on a regular basis. Good luck!

Unfortunately, some families just have hypertension regardless of diet and exercise. In these cases, they generally need to go on medication. Now, you are right in grey area between a normal blood pressure (BP) and a hypertensive BP. You are what we call, quot;pre-hypertensionquot;. Some doctors treat this with medication, and some don t. Most at this time would recommend lifestyle modifications like diet, exercise, and weight loss. But you already do most of those. You didn t mention diet, though? How do you eat? Do you eat a lot of fast food? High sodium food? Start looking at your food labels and focusing on the sodium content. Try to reduce that daily if possible and get to the recommended daily allowance for sodium. If I were you, I would have a check up with a physician just to double check everything. Good luck.

Unfortunately you didn t mention your age amp; gender. You are not a heart patient nor you need any drug at this stage. But since your systolic is in bit higher side, to be in safe side you should have some investigations - Lipid Profile, to find the cause of this. It might be due to higher LDL or you got this from hereditary. Your daily walk and pranayama are very effective in this case. In addition you should maintain: no smoking/drinking, eat a lot of green veges/fruits, no red meat, in fact in one word - low calorie amp; low fat diet. Remember: exercise raise the HDL level amp; controlling stress amp; diet lower the LDL level.

well the ideal BP is 120/80..... No home remedy other than diet, exercise, no stressing etc About the medication...its hard to say on here...ur diastolic(second number) is high however BP changes.. is it your surgery that have been doing ur BP? as home machines tend to be less accurate than the good old fashioned method...also depends on ur general health... You should relaly speak to your doctor about it al i guess

At my last doctors visit I had a BP around 150/90. What I dont get is that 3 yrs ago it was 115/80? -

In the last 3 years I ve gotten married, bought a house and two dogs. I ve also had multiple jobs and moved between states. As I type this it seems pretty obvious all of these changes have taken a toll, especially because I have not exercised much or maintained a healthy diet. I m a 26 year old male, with a healthy BMI and a job I love. In fact, all of the crazy changes in the last few years have brought about (what I think) is a very good life! Now I m wondering if I can reverse the high blood pressure that it took to get me here... because it seems like an awfully high price to pay for going after the things you want in life, and having to take blood pressure medication for decades so you can live long enough to enjoy it. Some family history of high blood pressure, but only later in life in their 70 s and 80 s. I ve all but ruled out quot;White Coat Hypertensionquot; because odds are that it s lifestyle, rather than a fear of doctor s visits that got me where I am.

I am a nurse and can tell you that high blood pressure is caused by many outside and internal factors. do not assume that it is JUST your lifestyle. Try making just a little time(even 20 minutes) for exercise--walking the dogs, situps, climbing stairs,etc.-and see the difference it makes in how you feel. Instead of an order of fries get a salad or replace potatoes with extra veggies. all of these things will make you feel physically and mentally better and hopefully either shed a few pounds or maintain your current weight. I f your pressure is still high, then it could be something internal..(blocked arteries, kidney trouble, or other problems.) Buy an electronic blood pressure monitor--they are as cheap as $40-$50- and log your blood pressure every day for a few weeks and then if it is higher than you want it, call the results in to your doctor to let him know. gl

You can tell all types of lies to yourself, like I did for 30 years. I wish I had corrected my blood pressure to avoid all the troubles I have with my heart(stents). I would recommend you to pay attention to your doctor, get a blood pressure monitor, learn to check it, exercise every day and be happy. If you don′t have the time for these things you won′t have the time to live. See omega-3-fish-oil-wonders.com page on high blood pressure. Alfredo E. Omega-fish-oil-wonders.com

Hypertension is sustained elevation of resting systolic BP (≥ 140 mm Hg), diastolic BP (≥ 90 mm Hg), or both. Hypertension with no known cause (primary; formerly, essential hypertension) is most common; hypertension with an identified cause (secondary hypertension) is usually due to a renal disorder. Usually, no symptoms develop unless hypertension is severe or long-standing. Diagnosis is by sphygmomanometry. Tests may be done to determine cause, assess damage, and identify other cardiovascular risk factors. Treatment involves lifestyle changes and drugs, including diuretics, β-blockers, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor blockers, and Ca channel blockers. You have got Stage 1 Hypertension. Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet. This kind of diet includes cottage cheese, fat-free milk, fish (not canned in oil), vegetables, poultry, egg whites, and polyunsaturated oils and margarines (corn, safflower, canola, and soybean oils). Avoid foods with excess fat in them such as meat (especially liver and fatty meat), egg yolks, whole milk, cream, butter, shortening, lard, pastries, cakes, cookies, gravy, peanut butter, chocolate, olives, potato chips, coconut, cheese (other than cottage cheese), coconut oil, palm oil, and fried foods. Low sodium intake.(Sodium chloride, Monosodium glutamate, Sodium bicarbonate) *Regular exercise. *Stop tobacco smoking. *Stop consuming alcohol. *Reduce fat and oils in the diet. *Obesity - In obese subjects, losing a kilogram of mass generally reduces blood pressure by 2 mmHg. (Abdominal circumference should be less than 100 cms) *Control Diabetes Mellitus. *Avoid worry and stress. *Avoid occupational, aircraft and roadway noise exposure. Please see the web pages for more details on Hypertension, Essential hypertension, Malignant hypertension (arteriolar nephrosclerosis), Drug-induced hypertension and Renovascular hypertension.

Kidneys- am I at risk of anything in the future? -

Hi, I m 14 and am pretty healthy at the moment except for a few things. One is my kidneys-when I was 7 or 8 I suffered from reflux (when the waste goes back inside your system instead of out). Now one of my kidneys is severely damaged and only works 30%. The doctors said I m not allowed any alcohol at all until I m at least 18, not even alcoholic chocolates. I m being monitered for the possibility of hypertension (I think that s what it s called) developing and have my blood pressure checked every six months. What else could happen?

Kidney disease and reduced function is a risk factor for Hypertension (high blood pressure) because the kidney s play a part of blood pressure regulation. People with kidney disease are more at risk from cardiovascular disease in general. Just cross that bridge when you come to it, you will be monitored, IF you start having problems then treatment can be provided. Do you know what your eGFR is? or what stage?

Is beer worse than wine for blood pressure? -

i have mild hypertension, and have drank a little bit of wine without any problems, but last nite i drank a glass of beer and it made my heart rate go ballistic, so i was wondering if beer has something that makes you more euphoric etc?,

A study finds that beer and wine both boost blood pressure slightly, and by about the same amount, but who knows - in spite of the study that may not be true for everyone.

If you have hypertention you should not drink any alcohol. It raises your blood pressure. Beer is worse because it has salt in it.

Yes,The beer is worse than wine for blood pressure!

Whats Wrong? -

Sometimes I can feel my heart beat throughout my entire body for no reason. It has been happening a lot more lately and lasting for an hour or more. Is this is a symptom of hypertension or something else? I ask about Hypertension becasue it runs in my family.

It could be an indicator of hypertension. It could also be a result of stress. Please see a doctor, to get a professional opinion. Hypertension in it s early stages can be lessened and improved by very simple changes in diet, additional exercise and stress reduction techniques. You do not have to follow the family health history, you can live life hypertension free.

Have you taken Atelonol? -

I am supposed to take 50mg of Atelonol (Tenormin) once a day. I started to take it, but now my arms get numb when I am sleeping. I mean that I wake up asking myself, “Whose arm is this?” I don t even know if the affected arm belongs to me. I cannot move it nor feel it! I take it with the other arm and shake it until it recovers. I had not the problem until I started to take the medication. I started to cut my pills in half and the problem improved dramatically (90%). I am planning to have major elective surgery and one of the questions is if my arms get numb. Should I answer yes? How can this affect me during my surgery? I don t have hypertension, so maybe this is the reason that I am getting this reaction. It was prescribed to diminish my heart palpitations. I should ask my cardiologist, but they keep calling me to tell me, quot;Your appt has been cancelled. We ll see you in 8 more weeks.quot;

yeah, thats not too unusual for atenolol. the drug reduces the heartrate/force of contractions so blood circulation is lower in the extremeties, which is also why people get cold easier and tire quickly on it. sometimes that stuff gets a little better after a week or two of taking it. i had similar problems when i took it for awhile. talk to your cardiologist and see if you should cut your dose. you should probably talk to your surgeon ahead of time about that if you are having surgery soon.

Hummm, those symptoms really don t sound like it is from Atelonol. Have you contacted your doctor or pharmacist? On a personal note I take Toprol XL for SVT. Maybe that might work better for you. However, like others have stated, you really don t want to stop this abruptly. The following side effects are associated with Atenolol Oral: Common side effects: Drowsiness Less Severe Abnormal Trouble Sleeping Less Severe Low Energy Less Severe Feeling Weak Less Severe Sexual Problems Less Severe Infrequent side effects: Depression Severe Chronic Heart Failure Severe Constriction of Blood Vessels of the Extremities Severe Spasms of the Lung Severe Dizzy Severe Stuffy Nose Less Severe Incomplete or Infrequent Bowel Movements Less Severe Feel Like Throwing Up Less Severe Throwing Up Less Severe Diarrhea Less Severe Stomach Cramps Less Severe Nervous Less Severe Anxious Less Severe Rare side effects: Abnormal Heart Rhythm Severe Blood Pressure Drop Upon Standing Severe Psoriasiform Eruption Severe Joint Pain Severe Backache Severe Hallucination Severe Chest Pain Severe Reaction due to an Allergy Severe Decreased Blood Platelets Severe Decreased White Blood Cells Severe Confused Severe Nightmares Less Severe Dry Eye Less Severe Eye Irritation Less Severe Itching Less Severe Taste Problems Less Severe

You obviously are not tolerating the Atenolol, and need to have your medication switched to something else. Don t stop the atenolol abruptly, as you can have problems if you do. Find yourself a new cardiologist. As for your upcoming surgery, tell those who ask the truth. In fact, the anesthesiologist might cancel your surgery if you have unresolved cardiac issues, so make every effort to get it sorted out beforehand.

Kava kava pills side effects? -

ok here are some side effect that are caused by the pills: Other serious side effects have been observed with chronic or heavy use of kava, including skin disorders, blood abnormalities, abnormal muscle movements, apathy, kidney damage, seizures, psychotic syndromes, and increased blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension). Blood in the urine has also been reported. so are these side effects temporary or permanant if they happen to you???

Skin rashes Chronic and heavy use of kava for a period of three months or more has occasionally been reported to cause a scaly, yellow skin rash and an eye irritation that disappears after discontinuation of the herb. The rash resembles one brought on by a niacin (Vitamin B3) deficiency; however, a double-blind, placebo-controlled study showed no change in the rash after niacin supplementation.[citation needed] The 29 Tonga islanders who presented with the rash after heavy kava consumption--more than 900 g/week--were given either 100 mg of oral niacinamide or placebo. No statistically significant improvement was seen in the supplementing group, suggesting niacin deficiency may not cause the rash, which is more characteristic of an acquired ichthyosis. Until more is known, however, people taking kava regularly may also wish to take a multivitamin with at least 50 to 100 mg of niacin daily. [edit] Liver damage incidents and regulation In 2001 concerns were raised about the safety of commercial kava products. [15] There have been allegations of severe liver toxicity, including liver failure in some people who had used dietary supplements containing kava extract (but not in anyone who had drunk kava the traditional way). Out of the 50 people worldwide taking kava pills and extracts that have had some type of problem, almost all of them had been mixing them with alcohol and pills that could have effects on the liver.[15] The fact that different kava strains have slightly different chemical composition made testing for toxicity difficult as well. The possibility of liver damage consequently prompted action of many regulatory agencies in European countries where the legal precautionary principle so mandated. In the UK, the Medicines for Human Use (Kava-kava) (Prohibition) Order 2002 prohibits the sale, supply or import of most derivative medicinal products. Kava is banned in Switzerland, France, Germany and The Netherlands[16]. The health agency of Canada issued a stop-sale order for kava in 2002. But legislation in 2004 made the legal status of kava uncertain. The United States CDC has released a report[17] expressing reservations about the use of kava and its possibly adverse side effects (specifically severe liver toxicity), as has the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).[18] The Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration has recommended that no more than 250 mg of kavalactones be taken in a 24 hour period.[19] According to the Medicines Control Agency in the U.K., there is no safe dose of kava, as there is no way to predict which individuals would have adverse reactions.[20] [edit] Toxicology of pill from kava extracts with stems and leaves Piperidine alkaloids from the kava plantThe legal intervention of several countries stimulated research, and hepatotoxic substances were found in the stems and leaves of the plant. Researchers from the University of Hawaii at Manoa found that an alkaloid called pipermethystine (formula 1), contained in stem peelings and leaves but not in the roots, had toxic effects on liver cells in vitro[21] and in vivo.[2] In rats fed with 10 mg/kg pipermethystine for two weeks, indications of hepatic toxicity were found. Comparable signs of toxicity were not detected with kava rhizome extracts (100 mg/kg, 2 weeks)[2], (73 mg/kg, 3 months).[3] Flavokavain B, found in the plant s rhizome (large horizontal underground stem), may also contribute to toxic effects.[22] And, it is known that some of the kavapyrones block several subtypes of the enzyme cytochrome P450[23], which can result in adverse interactions with other drugs used concomitantly. Hawaiian researchers learned from a trader in Fijian kava that European pharmaceutical companies eagerly bought up the stem and leaves peelings when demand for kava extract soared in Europe in 2000 and 2001. Before 2002, substantial amounts of aerial parts of the kava plant were being exported to North America and Europe and obviously used for the production of commercial pill extracts. For traditional use in the South Pacific, stem peelings and leaves are discarded, and only the rhizomes are used and extracted with water. This may explain why native populations that make heavy use of kava experience side effects that are mild, temporary, and confined to the skin, whereas industrialized countries that have newly adopted kava occasionally show severe, acute responses. A medical conference in Fiji determined that the high concentrations of kava resins in pill form extracts alone could have been the culprit for the liver damage incidents. [edit] Toxicity of traditional kava beverage preparations Kava has been consumed heavily as a beverage in the south Pacific for around 3000 years with no reports of liver problems[citation needed]. One study has reported that when kava preparations are made with the root of the plant no toxicity is found.[24] However, in one study some changes in liver function are noticed. The effect

Would a blood pressure of 141/82 and a pulse of 112 mean a hospital trip? (pic included)? -

got back from WalMart about an hour ago, and that s a picture of the reading on the blood pressure machine just outside th epharmacy. I went back just before we left, and it was about the same (the pulse was about 110). On halloween i went to the ER with stage 2 hypertension and a pulse of 120+. Since i ve been home, it s been around 80-84, and now that i m at home, it was 102, now it s back up to 112. I m supposed to be on Z-pack, but i haven t gotten it yet since i lost the perscription card, and i can t remember my doctor s name from when I went to the ER. ===Should I ask my mom to take me to the ER later 2nite? Or should I just wait and see if my pulse goes down? My uncle has a blood pressure thing, but i m not sure if it s very accurate...===

Hi, Is there any history of diabetes in your family? Extremely high blood sugars can cause problems as well. You don t have to have parents or grandparents with diabetes to get it, just eat a lot of acidic foods and drink soft drinks, and that can overload your system with acids, and this can lead to diabetes. Even when your bring in a prescription note to a pharmacy in the US, they will normally contact the doctor s office to double check the prescription, especially if it is a narcotic (that one is not). You can have the pharmacy call the ER and confirm you where there and what needs to be given, what dosage. I guess you mom is not to worried? How is your eating habits? I guess if you are worried about high blood pressure, you should not bury that worry in ice cream or potato chips that will increase the pressure. High heart rates for kids is sort of normal. I know a 8 year old that is over 120 all the time, resting, and can reach 160 while in the hospital, and the doctors don t do a thing about it. For her, it is normal. I knew a track star, who played on the football team in high school, and his resting heart rate was the lowest in the class, 50. He must have a big heart, with lots of volume. You can do things to your diet to bring on diabetes, or prevent diabetes. You can also do things to prevent heart disease, might as well start tonight. Eat well, skip soft drinks, and don t have meat with each meal. Eat some Oatmeal for breakfast. Adding 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon will lower it s absorbsion rate into the bloodstream, something very good for diabetics. It will offer calories all day long, helping you avoid snacks mid-day. If you can t eat oatmeal, remember that Cherrios is good for bringing down your cholesterol. Yes it really works like in the commercials. Cinnamon has shown 20% lower blood sugar levels in test subjects in a test down on glycemic index, so enjoy cinnamon, it is very good for you.

Dont get so worried about a once-off store test...A doctor needs to get 3 readings in a row of a high BP before he will diagnose you...there are alot of reasons why the walmart reading could be a little high. Z-pack is an anti-biotic right?...that probably wont have any bearing on your BP. I think you should see your doctor about your BP issues and get an accurate reading taken. Your pulse is a little high but that changes quickly and anxiety can cause it to leap up...Iwouldn tt be that worried about it yet. Chill out dear...relax and stop worrying or you will keep having these symptoms and get really anxious about it all.

Relax you re fine. You are not going to have a stroke if that s what you re worried about. You can go back to the ER, they will have a record of the treating doctor and diagnosis. Tell them about your prescription card. Or tell the pharmacy you get the scirpt filled at. They can look up any prescription benefits you have. Or you ll just have to wait until the offices open up in the morning to get a new card. In either case get a new prescription and while you re there ask them to check your BP. I m surprised the doctor didn t put you in some mild B/P medicine. Even a mild diuretic might help you. God bless you and keep you healthy.

What should be my own treatment for low spem count, oligospermia and azospermia? What is the spiriual remedy? -

Recommendation of honey for my wife taken. What is my own treatment? Sometimes I was diagnosed low sperm count. After drug it changes to oligospermia and then again to azospermia. The thought of this gave me hypertension one night. Intercouse with my wife indicate that there seems to be a blockage of flow sperm. This sensation becomes clear after I started visiting spiriual homes for prayers in addition to medical consultations. What is the spiriual remedy?. Any duau or zikri by our renown Moulana Sheik Muhammed on this? I trust in the community s prayer ability. Wishing you Allah s blessings. massalam.

Anyone in their 30s have? -

Uncontrolled hypertension? What are some reasons? I have tried several kinds of meds. Dr.s cant find out why.

i m 13.

I was just diagonsed with a right to left shunt. i am 22.? -

Is this the same thing as pulmonary hypertension. Is it dangerous?

It is not the same thing as pulmonary hypertension. Pulmonary hypertension means that the pressure in the pulmonary artery is too high. A right-to-left shunt means that some of your blood is not absorbing oxygen in the lungs before it is pumped to the rest of your body. Even though they are two different things, some people can have both conditions. Your doctor can tell you if you also have pulmonary hypertension. A right-to-left shunt can be dangerous because your body may not be getting all the oxygen it needs. It is good that they have found out that you have this problem. Now hopefully they can fix it or at least give you some oxygen. I hope you feel better soon.

Why is my blood pressure so high at age 25? -

I ve researched this some already. i do smoke, i m often stressed, and hypertension runs heavy in my family. i know i have all those against me. but i eat pretty healthy (lots of veggies) and i m not over weight and i exercise and i m only 24. i checked my bp at work today and it was 183/112. i checked it four days ago and it was 163/107. and a week ago it was 152/119. and those readings were all taken when i was relaxed, bored, and curious. i take it on one of those electronic wrist cuff monitors. i know i should quit smoking but that s not going to happen anytime soon. should i go to the doctor? should i be concerned?

You should go to the doctor for this. There are too many reasons for hypertension to get advice on Yahoo. You may need meds. My 22 year old sister was just put on BP medicine.

That s pretty high. It s better to get on blood pressure medicine now than wait until your heart is damaged, no matter what the reason. You should see a doctor, get a physical, maybe some blood work, and get your cholesterol checked. I m only 21 and I have high blood pressure for no reasoon.

Genetics. No at your age just follow the guidelines for anyone with high blood pressure. Avoid stress, smoking, sodium, and with proper diet and excesses you can lower it. It s good that you monitor it often as well.

some of the electronic wrist cuff are not accurate in measurements..you should consider checking your bp using a sphygmomanometer and i think you really should go to the doctor for you to know what is wrong with your bp

Stress and smoking is enough to make it that high, also if you re horny it makes it worse. stop smoking, and get some sex. Check it after then.

Minds high i m 17, probably I ll the crappy food I eat, and the OTC drugs I take. Caffeine/ benadryl. Go to the doc. if you can.

is a generic, from you parents. some they have high some they have low. i have low blood pressure in my family.

stop smoking .it can be on your genes.sorry

What could be causing my blood pressure to remain high? -

Let s add some background information: *22 year-old-male, normal height and weight *Vegetarian (not vegan) *Don t use tobacco or illegal drugs *Light drinker (2 to 3 per week, no more than 1 every other day) *Anti-depressant medications *Recent cardiac ablation for WPW Any ideas? Primary Hypertension maybe? Checked with the doc about my alcohol use and medications and she said the medications have no effect and I don t drink enough to induce alcohol-related hypertension.

You did mention how much BP we are talking about but if you are really have hypertension you must have proper diagnosis and treatment soon as it is very dangerous on your vessels, kideny, heart and brain to remain hypertesive. you sould know that is not easy to diagnose the cause but you must have patience. Best wishes

My doctor recently told me that just 2 drinks can elevate blood pressure for up to two weeks, so I am abstaining from drinking for a month. I was also sent for tests and I know one of the ones he specifically mentioned was for hyperthyroidism.

do you drink alot of caffeine or energy drinks? it doesn t matter if there the regular kinds or sugar free. i had a problem with slightly elevated blood pressure over that..

salt? stress?

Whats her diagnosis? -

78 yr old woman: hypertension, poor sleeping patterns, poor appetite, loss of interest in activities, poor recall, disoriented/confused, does poorlyon simple executive tasks, feels worse in morning...what s the diagnosis?

senile dementia, depression, hypertension...

Well without any history (knowing the order the symptoms presented and how long they have been present), whether the patient noticed the symptoms or those around her noticed symptoms, is obese, race, family history, has lost a loved one recently.... Could be heart failure, stroke, thyroid or a combination of them. All three include varying degrees of what you have described. Blood work, eeg, and ekg would be my first things based on what you did provide. If you are asking for a loved one, please see a doctor.

First of all, I would reccommend having her see her doctor for a full physical and check up. There are many things that can cause these symptoms. Hypertention is serious and should be treated immediately. It can effect many things in the body, and create many of the symptoms that you mention. If the heart isn t pumping enough oxygen to the brain, the brain isn t going to function as it should.

OLD AGE.

she s just old. most people her age are like that. hope i helped.

Is it sour? -

im thinking of buying some grape juice for my future mother in law because i heard that it has been good for hypertension, it says that it lowers the blood pressure. is it true? how does it taste like? is it sour ? i want to know how it tastes because my mother in law is not used to drinking sour juices. how much does it cost and is it worth buying it for her?

Supposedly there is some evidence that grape juice brings down blood pressure. It certainly can t hurt. Have you never had grape juice? Believe me, your MIL will probably like it. Kids love it! It s very sweet and tasty. If she doesn t like it for some reason, I m sure she will appreciate the thought behind it. It doesn t cost much at all -- a couple of bucks maybe and you can get it at any grocery store. Is it worth it? I think so. If it doesn t help her blood pressure, at least it will help her to know that you are a kind and thoughtful person.

I would say it isn t sour because I have never tasted grape juice.

Its sweet - very sweet. Its also not very effective at treating high blood pressure. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables is good for hypertension, but a change of diet alone is not enough to lower blood pressure to a safe level for most people. Price wise - here in detroit its about 3-4$ (depending on brand) for a 64oz bottle (almost 2 liters) Its rather delicious - though I add water because it is too sweet for me.

it can be it taste like a grape ever tasted a grape

generally grape juice is sweet it is a favorite kids drink and generally in expensive

Grape juice is good; and has more potassium, but it is stronger than apple juice. Hope I helped.

It depends on what kind of grape juice you get her. Some are sweet and some are tart. Red (or dark) grape juice tends to be sweeter and white tends to be more tart. It s not very expensive and you can buy it at your grocery store in the juice aisle. Just look for something that says quot; Not from concentrate.quot; Don t get concentrated juice, since it s made from quot;concentratedquot; grapes and then remixed with water or other juices to save money. As for grape juice helping hypertension, I ve never heard of that. The only thing I ve heard of that definitely works is medication or weight loss.

grape juice taste like the grape. green grapes are more tart. red/purple grapes are sweeter. she can purchase the juice herself for less than $2 in any grocery store.

What can i do to control my bad temper? -

I have a huge problem and now its effecting my life in a major way.. My temper is so short and ppl can easily press my buttons.. I m a really nice girl.. I volunteer my time with children teaching them to read.. I going to school to be an RN.. I help out the misfortunate and give away old clothes.. i have so much potential to be a leader.. I ve had managment and leadership position in the work place and at school yet as soon as someone disrespects me I get so mad and it shows.. I wana cry, fight, walk out, curse them out.. I get soo upset.. I would like to get along with everyone, but ppl always test me and I m tired of it.. I m tired of letting ppl press my buttons, cuz it will happen all the time and i can t leave in anger and with hypertension for the rest of my life.. I know about anger management.. i don t know if they have free sessions in the los angeles area.. but i need help with this.. please someone give me some insight.. thanks in advance.. all answers are apprieciated..

1 DEEP BREATH 2 LET IT GO 3 FORGET 4 FORGIVE 5 GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE =]

Pray every time you feel the onset...ask God for help...he s there for you

remain calm

get a punch bag and every time you feel angry beat the crap out of it

smoke weed

You need to understand that people have the ability to be upset just as much as you do. THINK - why are they disrespecting me? Did I do anything? People do not just randomly disrespect others because it s fun. Someone or something might have happened to cause them to react so. Take deep breaths, count to ten in your head if it s really bad, and put yourself in their shoes. You will realise they have a reason for making you angry. and DONT think but it doesn t change the fact that i m still angry! that is just being lazy. Control yourself and you will be treated better. If someone bothers you, tell them what they are doing that is bothering you, maybe they have a good reason for their actions. Communication is the key. Many of these things are simply misunderstandings. It is only when they do NOT have a good reason for annoying you (try not to be biased when deciding this), then you CAN be angry at them.

I may be going on a whim here, but it seems you are desperate to not only be liked, but to like all others. I got news for you trying to please everybody is a one way ticked to insanity. It seems you try so hard and when someone pushes back you don t understand and then snap(quot;why are these people being like this when I m so nicequot;). In the work place I have found respect to be a far better tool than being liked. You wont change overnight but with time and maturity I m sure things will work out.

Actually from your note I found that you are really nice girl. You know about anger management. even though you are not able to. right? your main reason for anger is you think others are pressing your buttons. It means your remote is in others hand. I want to tell you you one thing if we are in anger it means 100% we are responsible for that dont blame others. I would request you to do following things. 1. Always keep a smile on your face even you are going to say hello on your phone smile before other side person will feel it in your voice. ( dont think it rubbish, please do it for five days) 2. Do one good task which makes a person happy. 3. Go to church in a week atleast (go daily if possible.) All these thing will let your mind cool. try atleast once.

A selection of treatments follow: If you can t deal with it by using one of the techniques, such as counting backwards from 20, to 1, (and prevent you from allowing yourself to become angry, in the first place) is important to express that anger appropriately, at the time, and to the person who caused it, if possible, or immediately afterwards. If not, maybe by walking away later, and bellowing your rage and/or frustration. In some situations, such as work, or school, it might be better to cover your mouth with a cupped hand, bandanna/handkerchief, or use the crook of your elbow, to muffle the sound. Some people find that it helps to journal those thoughts, and emotions soon afterwards. Anger, which is repressed, rather than healthily expressed, tends to fester, and later may cause explosive fits of rage, or depression. Let yourself feel the burning energy of that anger, and visualise it, as vividly as possible, as a hot flame cleansing you. It can help to have someone you can talk to. For more physically inclined people, a punching bag, or hitting your pillow, can be an effective release mechanism: visualise, as vividly as you can, that you are striking back at the cause of that anger. quot; But next time, when you get mad, just remember this quote: Those who anger you, conquer you. It s basically saying that when you give someone the power to make you mad, or let it get to you, it s like they re controlling you. When I realized that, it made me mad, so I try to control my anger and not let people see it. You can still control your anger without being walked all over. You just have to draw a line.quot; Try saying to yourself, in your mind: quot;I am fire! I am ice!quot;. Repeat for as long as it takes for you to calm down sufficiently. Anger management is addressed in much more detail than can be included here, in section 4, at and practice daily, one of the relaxation methods in sections 11, 2, 2.c, or 2.i Most people find the progressive muscular relaxation simple, and it can be done in several minutes. Others prefer to repeat a word, like quot;easyquot; in their minds, or a short phrase, and focusing your attention on your breath is another technique. You will know from the ease of use, and effect, which suits you best. The EFT, in section 53, is worth trying, too. A variant of Eye Movement Desensitisation amp; Reprocessing therapy, which has been used successfully for those people suffering from anxiety: it is easily learned, quick to use, yet can be very effective, is on page N, of section 6, and I use it before the relaxation techniques, because I have found that it makes them quicker to employ, and more effective. These will enable you to emotionally centre yourself, when practiced regularly. Yoga, and/or T ai Chi can also help you become a calmer, more self controlled person, who is less influenced by the behaviour of others. Hi Valentine, Sounds to me like you have a low self esteem and low confidence problem. I tried an audio program from this wonderful website really helped me with my problems around lack of confidence, low self esteem. I can’t believe the change in me. It totally transformed my life. You just can’t imagine what this has done for my life. The changes in me are nothing short of miraculous. You too could benefit from these audio programs. It is a learning system to condition the conscious and unconscious mental patterns that will allow you to rise above your current limitations and to embrace and achieve your goals. It starts with a brief relaxation session at the beginning of each programs, to produce the optimal state of mind for learning and retention with 55-60 beat per minute music to further reduce stress while lowering brain waves into the alpha and theta levels followed by special pace and repetition of re-scripting statements. What they do for you is significantly alter your automatic mental processes, which start working in days and produces lasting, growing results that continue to improve every aspect of your life as the weeks and months go by. It will work wonders for you, too. Increased self esteem, total self confidence. No more angry outburst over small matters. No more obsessing over matters large and small. Hope this helps, Valentine, best wishes to you.

Is there any natural method/treatment that is effective, clinically proven to reduce blood pressure? -

Specifically, stage 1 hypertension. Please cite references. Thanks.

Supplements: Calcium, Magnesium, Garlic, L Carnitine, L glutamic acid, L glutamine, Selenium, Co Q10, EFAs (flaxseed oil) Vitamin C, Lecithin granules and Vitamin E. A strict salt-free diet is essential, and all animal fats (meat and dairy) must be avoided. Broiled white fish and skinless chicken may be consumed in moderation only. Primary protein sources should be from vegetables, grains and legumes. Avoid all alcohol, caffeine and tobacco. Fast for three days each month to periodically cleanse and detoxify the body. Get regular exercise, and keep your weight down.

Stress and nutrition are significant contributors to hypertension. While it is not always possible to avoid stressful situations, you can determine your response to it. By allowing yourself to become angry, you become more stressful. Relaxation, slow, deep breathing is one way of comfortably resolving stress when you can t avoid it. By controlling your sodium intake, you are making a major effort to keeping your pressure down. Learn to read labels - processed foods and box mixes have excessively high sodium content. Read the label on a package of raman noodles or those products that you simply add water to, then eat. Processed sandwich meat has more sodium in one serving than normally recommended for a days intake. Unless you are a confirmed vegan, fresh meats, fish and fowl are good in moderation, and learn to use herbs and alternate seasonings, but avoid salt substitutes. Grilling, broiling and sauteing is good, and use light pan spray, rather than grease. Don t try to eliminate totally foods that you enjoy, such as meat or deserts or the like, just use common sense and don t put yourself out on a limb so that you can t enjoy your food. Add a slight amount, couple drops of lemon juice to fresh cooked veggies- wondeerful and different taste. Many tout the advantages of fresh garlic (not the stuff you buy in a pill bottle) Also, avoid fried foods. Healthy diets have many other good benefits.

Red Yeast Rice Supplements It was prescribed to me by my naturopath to help reduce my cholesterol, along with the usual recommendates of diet changes and exercises. Even though it s considered a food supplement, it s now illegal for natural health food stores to sell them (at least in Canada). They worked too well. I buy it at my naturopath s office.

Exercise is a natural reducer of blood pressure. While you exercise it goes up but then the after effect is lower than when you started. Over time it will reduce it overall.

Hypertension? -

im 18 and my family has a history of hypertension. my cousin died from stroke at age 25 and almost everyone in my family has very high blood pressure. this worries me because i do as well...recently i took it and it was 140/80 with a heart rate of 110 and this was when i was relaxing. also when i sit down for long periods my feet get numb as well, occasionally my hands do too. i dont know if that is related but im just curious do you all have any ideas?

My suggestion would be to find you a good doctor. Keep a close observation on your health and blood pressure.

With a family history of hypertension, you need to be very careful yourself. At age 18, a resting BP of 140/80 is too high and a resting heart rate of 110 is too fast. The numbness in your feet and hands is also of concern. Please go to a Dr. and get a complete physical and bloodwork. This needs to be monitored and maybe treated.

You do have a strong family history of hypertension, therefore you need to be under the care of a good physician with regular monitoring and supervision of your blood pressure. There are excellent medicines available to treat hypertension at any age. I do not think ocassional numbness of hands and and feet is related to your blood pressure but you should check your plasma glucose levels.

If that was your bp when you were resting you need to go to the dr and get on some meds. You might have to try a few different ones before they can get the right ones for you but it will be worth it.

Is it possible to increase metabolism without threatening bloodpressure? -

Recently quot;diagnosedquot; pre-hypertension. Doc says I should lose a few pounds. I am currently 6 2quot; 220lbs. I only carry fat in my mid section and face. My arms and legs are lean. Wasn t ever a lump on a log (played in a semi-pro football league and attempted body building- those little 5 4quot; to 5 9quot; guys bulk up to better though) but I just got quot;seriousquot; about exercising again after about five or six years. My wife says it looks like I lost some belly fat but I cant tell so I am considering herbal or chromium to help increase my metabolism. Any safe suggestions that won t increase my blood pressure and defeat the purpose???

Hey, do you want to lose weight easily by doing nothing or get motivated to lose weight easily without even giving up half-way? The key and answer to successfully do it is in Your Subconscious Mind. The subconscious actually stores a multitude of memory patterns which will feed information to the conscious mind when activated. Data is never erased unless the subconscious mind gives that command. For example, when you walk or drive to your destination, you do it automatically without being aware of it - that is your subconscious mind doing the whole process without your conscious mind. The subconscious brain is very good at its job and works 24 hours a day on keeping us alive. The subconscious controls and regulates involuntary functions of the body such as breathing, circulation, Metabolism, Digestion, hormone balance, etc. So you may wonder.. how do you tweak or make your subconscious mind to lose weight easily? The answer is... Hypnosis! Hypnosis is done by bypassing your conscious mind to your subconscious mind giving instructions and storing them successfully. That is why people can quit smoking, feel extremely motivated, attain success easily, study easily and so on Successfully just after 1 session of hypnosis! Even faith-healing uses Hypnosis! My friend tried hypnosis to lose weight. Initially, her weight was 198lbs and she lost 18.3lbs within 3-weeks! All by natural metabolism! And she never even change her diet but ate as normal! The best thing about losing weight via metabolism is... it burns fat everywhere in your body equally! This makes your body look perfect in shape! You will thank me because I can guarantee you Hypnosis Works! You can just let your natural metabolism be high and Lose Fat Doing NOTHING effectively and immediately or be motivated to stop binge eating and exercise regularly without pain or laziness! I m a little wary of medicines that claim to increase one s metabolism to help lose weight: My grandmother, who had been a strong vital woman, got mixed up with some of that stuff and it made her very sick. That being said, I understand cinnamon and cloves are supposed to help with blocking sugars. Try adding green tea too. Good luck!

What kind of juices help to reduce blood sugar levels? -

suferring from hypertension, diabetes, with high triglycerides and cholesterol

water

Try this website: http://www.spiritherbs.com/natural_remed...

Diabetes: Celery, cucumbers, string beans, onion and garlic are especially beneficial. String bean pod tea is an excellent natural substitute for insulin and highly beneficial in diabetes. The skin of the pods of green beans are extremely rich in silica and certain hormone substances which are closely related to insulin. One cup of string bean tea is equal to one unit of insulin. Cucumbers contain a hormone needed by the cells of the pancreas for producing insulin. Onion and garlic have proved beneficial in reducing blood sugar in diabetes. Recent scientific investigations have established that bitter gourd (karela) is highly beneficial in the treatment of diabetes. It contains an insulin-like principle, known as plant-insulin which has been found effective in lowering the blood and urine sugar levels. It should, therefore, be included liberally in the diet of the diabetic. For better results, the diabetic should take the juice of about 4 or 5 fruits every morning on an empty stomach. The seeds of bitter gourd can be added to food in a powdered form. Diabetics can also use bitter gourd in the form of decoction by boiling the pieces in water or in the form of dry powder. Another effective home remedy is jambul fruit known as jamun in the vernacular. It is regarded in traditional medicine as a specific against diabetes because of its effect on the pancreas. The fruits as such, the seeds and fruit juice are all useful in the treatment of this disease. The seeds contain a glucoside ‘jamboline’ which is believed to have power to check the pathological conversion of starch into sugar in cases of increased production of glucose. They should be dried and powdered. This powder should be taken mixed in milk, curd, or water. Hypertension/Blood Pressure: Oranges, apples, pears, mangoes, guava, pineapples, raspberry, and watermelon are the best diet in such cases. Bananas and jackfruit should not be taken. Milk may be taken after a week of ‘fruits only’ diet. The milk should be fresh and should be boiled only once. The patient can be permitted cereals in his food after two weeks. Vegetables are also good for the patient of hypertension. They should preferably be taken raw. If they are cooked, it should be ensured that their natural juices are not burnt in the process of cooking. Vegetables like cucumber, carrot, tomatoes, onion, radish, cabbage and spinach are best taken in their raw form. They may be cut into small pieces and the juice of a lemon added to them so as to make them more palatable. Garlic is regarded as one of the most effective remedies to lower blood pressure. The pressure and tension are reduced because it has the power to ease the spasms of the small arteries. Garlic also slows the pulse and modifies the heart rhythm besides relieving the symptoms of dizziness, numbness, shortness of breath and the formation of gas within the digestive tract. The average dosage should be two to three capsules a day to make a dent in the blood pressure. Indian gooseberry (amla) is another effective food remedy for high blood pressure. A tablespoonful each of fresh amla juice and honey mixed together should be taken every morning in this condition. Lemon is also regarded as a valuable food to control high blood pressure. It is a rich source of vitamin P which is found both in the juice and peel of the fruit. This vitamin is essential for preventing capillary fragility. Watermelon is another valuable safeguard against high blood pressure. It was proved in recent experiments that a substance extracted from watermelon seeds has a definite action in dilating the blood vessels, which results in lowering the blood pressure. Hope this helps, Good Luck.

Drink pure promegranate juice. You can dilute it with some water or add in some ice.

perhaps bitter gourd juice will help but seriously you need to look into your lifestyle, food, enough exercise? and perhaps insufficiency of medication dosage? And also seek opinion from a doctor.

WATER AND LOTS OF IT!!!

Stay away from juice. They are filled with calories. Drink water and eat fruit instead.

Most juices contain some sort of sugars; whether they are natural or processed sugars. Apple juice contains mostly process sugars and very little apples in them. My mother in law keeps mostly orange juice around her place. She has diabetes and hypertension. She keeps it around encase her blood sugar level drops too low. Which it can for someone with diabetes. If your over weight you might want to talk with your doctor about losing the excess weight; which may help you.

you can eat sugerless food but in control

TRY ROSELLE JUICE (- a specially made from the extract of Roselle calyces. My grandma is 85 has had a massive stroke. What should we, the family do.? -

My grandma who is 85 years old has had dementia for about 10 years. also has hypertension, had 2 strokes. Yesterday she had a quot;massivequot; stroke. and now the doctor says she s in a coma. She has been intubated. My family is considering feeding tubes and tracheotomy and ventilator for long term. Question #1. what s the chance of recovery after this. My family has alot of faith in God and they want to believe in a miracle. My grandma is 85, she s lived a full life and although I hate to see her go. What type of quality of life will she have. If someone was 30 or 40, I understand wanting to hold on. But my grandma is 85 years old. Is it better to go in comfort.

I m sorry to hear about your Grandmother s condition. I don t know medically what the chances are of a recovery. But, I do know that even if she were to recover fully she IS 85 years old and she will have to go sooner or later. I think you need to recognize the symptoms of a person who s body is dying and if you are sure that she is ready to pass away only then would you quot;disconnectquot; her from the outside world so to speak and let her pass away on her own. However, simply being in a coma does not sound like she is going away right now though, so I agree with you family that you should put her on the feeding tubes and other stuff long term. Like I said, she s 85, long term won t be forever. I do believe that you shouldn t let someone go earlier than they are meant to go simply because their quot;quality of lifequot; is not what you consider to be very pleasant. They need to experience their entire life, the way it was meant to be. Maybe in her comatose state she is going through an important, internal closing phase of her life. Just try to keep her as comfortable as possible until she is ready to go, and when the time comes, don t hang on to keeping her here, just let her pass away in peace.

Well my dad had 2 minor strokes too i would usually spend time with your grandma and do fun stuff with her make her laugh and stuff make her happy she might be proud of u for doing that i dont really know last time my mom took me out of school and i had to spend time with my dad at the hospital for 7 hours it was fun i made him laugh and stuff it might work for it depends.

I m sorry that your grandma has had such a thing as this. With that being said, I doubt very much whether she ll ever regain consciousness. Since the doctors told you it was massive then the chances of her coming out of the coma are almost nothing. Are there miracles, yes, and I have seen my share, but a massive stroke is just too involved. The brain is what tells our body when to breathe and to do the other things we need to live. At 85 your grandma has lived a long life with allot of loved ones. Why put her through all the machinery and a tracheotomy? It really isn t going to help. Please try to help the family realize that it s time for everyone to say good-bye and let her go with dignity. God calls us home when it s our time. Please let her go where there s no pain and be happy for her. I m sure she ll live on in the family s hearts. Good luck and God Bless

Bloating (water retention) because of liver malfunction? -

HepC is bloating me up again! Please help. I was in the hospital for this a couple years ago....I gained a LOT more than now but I m like 20 pounds more than I was about 2 weeks ago!! This is absurd....everything is quot;tightquot; (skin wise is solid) on me and I m have pitting edema, cirrhosis stage 1, portal hypertension, enlarged spleen and VERY low platelets. I know all about the salt intake thing but what else can I do aside from putting my feet up all day. Help me please. Thanks in advance!

Please go to the doctor...what are you waiting for? You really need to see a professional in person. HepC isn t to be fooled around with. Maybe you need to get some lactulose syrup to help with the blood impurities. I am not a doctor or a nurse, but I have had serious liver problems. This is nothing to wait around with. There is also something called quot;Questranquot; powder which is associated with helping along with the liver issues. Call/go to the doctor ASAP, please.

Is this fluid you are gaining in your abdominal area? If it is, it isn t the same kind of fluid gain that is found in the legs...this fluid is known as third spacing and it goes by the name of quot;Ascitesquot;. The fluid is caused by the fact that the liver isn t able to make a protein known as quot;Albuminquot; which normally would keep the fluid inside the vessels of our body, but because the albumin is now low in the blood...fluid can leak out and into the abdominal area. Here is a link about it. this fluid is making it difficult to breathe or you can no longer get comfortable...there is a procedure that they can do to remove it known as paracentesis. They numb the area, and make a very tiny incision in the abdomen and place a tube in there. The tube is connected to either a bag or a bottle that has a vacuum in it and it will gently pull the fluid from the abdomen and into the bottle. Doctors do not like to do this because any opening in the abdomen can cause bacteria to enter into the fluid remaining there. However, when it comes to the point that it is unbearable, they will do it. You need to get in touch with your doctor that handles your liver problem and let him know this is happening. The diuretics you are on usually help remove the fluid from the legs and is caused by sodium building up in your body...this fluid is known as edema. However, those diuretics are only able to slow down any build up of fluid in your abdominal area, not prevent it altogether. I hope that you will get the care you need, it is very important that you do.

Hi its Christmas! Can you help me with my case...just any ideas you have...I would really apprreciate it... -

A case of a 60 year old male , with a body weight of 17.9 kg/m2 , brought in the emergency room for shortness of breath. The patient is a known smoker for 30 pack years. He occasionally drinks. He is a known hypertensive and has congestive heart failure. He is already on maintenance medications for hypertension for 10 years. He claims to have a lung problem but could not recall the diagnosis, but is currently taking a combination of inhaled long acting bronchodilators and steroids. He is already a retired public transportation driver. His condition started around 4 days prior to admission as cough which was productive with whitish sputum. There was no associated fever. Patient just took in some cough medications which afforded only temporary relief. 3 days prior to admission noted to have body malaise this time associated with slight shortness of breath, tried having some nebulizations at a local clinic which afforded only slight relief, thus continued having it every 4 hours. 2 days prior to admission condition still persisted thus decided to seek consult with a doctor in their locality, was given some antibiotics, cough medications and was told to continue his nebulization. On the day of admission, noted his shortness of breath to increase in severity despite of the nebulizations, thus decided to be brought in the emergency room at a hospital in their locality. On Physical examination, patient was examined to be in distress: BP: 110/80 mm Hg HR-120 beats/min RR: 28 cycles /min T: 36.9 C Skin: cold with clammy sweats, Neck: prominent sternocleidomastoid muscles, no lymphadenopathy, (+) neck vein engorgement, HEENT: non icteric, pinkish palpebral conjunctiva, no tonsillophryngeal congestion, uvula in the middle, tonsils not enlarged, Chest/Lungs: no deformities, barrel chested, no scars, On physical examination, Mr. Winstone was found to have a body mass index of 27.9, his blood pressure was 133/90, pulse was 110, respiratory rate was 14, and his oxygen saturation was 88% on room air. The results of his head and neck exam were unremarkable, with no jugular venous distension noted. His chest excursions were symmetric with evidence of hyperinflation. Mr. Winstone s breath sounds were decreased throughout, and the expiratory phase was prolonged. His heart exam was notable for distant but otherwise normal heart sounds. The abdominal exam was unremarkable. There was no clubbing of his digits noted, but there was mild cyanosis and peripheral edema. His neurologic exam was nonfocal. Arterial blood gas drawn on room air revealed a pH of 7.39, PaO2 of 53, and PaCO2 of 44. His pulmonary function results before bronchodilators (% predicted) were forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1): 1.25 L (41%), forced vital capacity (FVC): 2.53 L (60%), and FEV1/FVC: 49. Post bronchodilator, his results were: FEV1: 1.29 L (42%) and FVC: 2.64 L (62%). His residual volume was 6.74 L (329%), total lung capacity: 9.45 L (150%) and his diffusing capacity was 6.96 L (25%). Questions: 1. What is your impression? 2. Give at least 5 differential diagnosis? 3. What is your management?

He has an obstructive lung disease (decreased FEV1/FVC), along with what could be an exacerbation of his CHF, given his edema. The differential for obstructive lung diseases is asthma, COPD, and something physically obstructing the airway (like he choked on something or a tumor was compressing a main airway). It sounds like what he has is COPD, more on the emphysema side. He needs to get his oxygen up. He s probably in V/Q mismatch (with maybe some shunt) so supplemental oxygen would get his sats up. If his respiratory muscles are too exhausted or if the cannula or face mask isn t working, he may need mechanical ventilation. And obviously once he s out of the acute problem, he needs to stop smoking.

Contradiction: first part of PE has + neck vein engorgement and later states no JVD....but would think CHF here along with exacerbation of COPD. He is very hypoxic and has hypoxemia as well. Differential: acute coronary event (MI); pulmonary embolus, COPD exacerbation with peripheral edema; ? mitral regurg (?murmur); acute renal failure; decompensated heart failure due to infectious etiology. Treatment: Careful oxygen (don t know if he is a CO2 retainer fully); diuresis, nitrates, short acting nebulizer (albuterol + atrovent), EKG, CXR, cardiac enzymes, chem panel, pulse oximetry ICU admit

ok, this sounds like you re a nursing student looking for answers to a homework assignment or exam, am I right? first of all I dont think you should be asking all this here, but I do suggest that you open up your Med-surg book and/or Pathophysiology and look under respiratory problems such as COPD, Emphysema, Bronchitis, etc. also since the guy has HTN then look up left-sided heart failure maybe that can help, but don t forget to do the work yourself, you ll feel better afterwards at your accomplishment.

Asthmatics 12 times more likely to develop Chronic Lung Disease (COPD) July 2004: A study has revealed that Asthmatics are 12 times more likely to develop chronic lung disease than non-asthmatics. The study, carried out at the University of Arizona, took over 20 years to complete and found that the risk of developing COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) for an asthmatic is twelve times higher than someone who does not suffer from asthma. The researchers said that it is crucial to understand the link between COPD and Asthma. This could eventually help us detect the condition earlier and offer better treatment. Such conditions as chronic bronchitis and emphysema come under the term COPD. Experts say that asthma does not cause permanent lung damage. Study leader was Dr. Graciela Silva, Arizona University, USA. Dr. Silva said to the Daily Mail For many years, asthma and COPD have been regarded as distinct conditions, with separate clinical courses. However, over time, the two diseases may develop features that are quite similar. Our study shows a strong link between asthma diagnosis and the development of COPD, which suggest they may share a common background.

Okay , I work for a Research company and I need to know what websites that I may be able to advertise studies! -

I need to know what websites that I can advertise the studies online, besides craigslist, and backpage. Ooh by the way, if anyone wants to participate in any health studies, and is in the Phoenix,AZ area, there are several studies available, such as,Alzhimer s,Diabetes,Epilepsy,Osteoart... Bladder,Post Herpetic Neuralgia, you may qualify. If you are in the Tuscon,AZ area, you may qualify for Acne study, Agina, Cut or Open Wound, Diabetes II,Hypertension, Opoid Induced Constipationor Poor circulation, heart attack ,stroke, you may qualify. If you are in the Long Beach, Ca area, there are two studies, Alzheimer s, Osteoarthritis that you may qualify for. If you are in the Los Angeles, Ca area, there are many studies availiable, Alzheimers,Bi Polar, Depression, Hypertension, Insomnia with Diabeetes II, Post Herpetic Neuralgia, and Shingles. There are so many studies that are being conducted, if you want to participate in paid research. email me at yae_yae2000@yahoo.com

We have used CenterWatch in the past. It is kind of spendy though, and you need to sign up for a somewhat lengthly period of time, but we did get referrals from it.

Honestly? Best Bet is do an online search to see what you can come up with.. GOODLUCK just the same!

Taking quot;Vytorinquot;? -

Anybody taking Vytorin 10/20 notice any side effects? I m also taking Exforge for hypertension. Thanx. Bob H.

no side effects I have noticed

Has lowered my lipids from gt; 400 to around 150. Don t think it s been on the market for 4 years, I am taking 10/20 since 2005 with no problems yet.

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe to continue using Vytorin. Side effects may include - Allergic reaction including swelling of the face, lips, throat, or tongue, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or rash; flu; gallstones; headache; inflammation of the gallbladder; inflammation of the liver; inflammation of the pancreas; muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness; nausea; numbness or pain in the hands or feet; upper respiratory infection. [simvastatin and ezetimibe are co-ingredients of Vytorin therefore, taking vytorin may rarely increase the risk of myopathy and serum transaminase elevations associated with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (i.e., statins). The mechanism of interaction is unknown. There are 1417 other drugs known to interact with amlodipine (ingredient of exforge) There are 60 other drugs known to interact with ezetimibe (ingredient of vytorin). There are 381 other drugs known to interact with simvastatin ( ingredient of vytorin). There are 751 other drugs known to interact with valsartan (ingredient of exforge). Your doctor would normally be conversant with these details.] I add a link with details of vytorin this helps matador 89

Dry hacking cough!! But that isn t why the doctor told me to quit taking it immediately. I took it for 4 years then got high potassium count.

I m on Vytorin 10/40. No side effects. My sister takes it also.

For the last 3-4 years my body has been so weak, WHY? -

i have done complete bloodwork and the only thing this is low is my cortisol level. i was negative for fibrabylasia, ms, muscular dis, hypertension, low thyroid, high thyroid. My throids tests were good to. Why is my entire body so weak. the doctors cannot figure it out. i cannot even go up and down the steps. i have no strength in my legs or my hands PLEASE HELP, i have seen many doctors and no help. nerologist, Pain Management, Endocrinology amp; Metabolism, Rheumatologist, Orthopedic, - Arthritis amp; Rheumatic Disease Specialist..... Nothing has helped. What doctor can help me???????

Well, you ve been to a rheumatologist so maybe this is already checked out but often people feel very tired when they have active inflammation going on cos a lot of their energy gets funnelled into an immune response- did you get checked for lupus ? Low cortisol- I m pretty sure you would feel tired. I think its called addisons disease and they usually give you hydrocortisone tablets 20 mg in the morning and 10 mg in the evening to mimic your bio rythms. Usually though, you d have maybe a tanned skin with this disease if you are of a white race Another idea - sleep apnoea . Do you snore at night? Get low oxygen levels and feel drowsy all day. Another idea- depression ? I knew a girl who took to her bed she felt so tired and weak. Another idea- some sort of a virus you haven t cleared yet. I had a lecturer who had a miscarriage and suddenly stopped walking and was confined to a wheelchair. It was years before she recovered and they reckonned it was viral. What about a heart specialist ?

Ethyl Alcohol (Ethanol) Raises Blood Pressure? -

I ve read around the net and come across many sites claiming Ethyl Alcohol (Ethanol) raises blood pressure. So, does anyone know anything about the subject? Or if this is true or not? Reason: I stopped taking Creatine Monohydrate due to financial reasons at the time and got info from a reputable source that it gives water bloat (which I never noticed being overweight at the time) and restricts valves. I been recently diagnosed with Hypertension (High Blood Pressure). My Dr. told me to quot;knock myself outquot; but to stop if I m experiencing anything serious. I found out about Creatine Ethyl Ester. No bloat or restricted valves. The only quot;possiblequot; side effect is raised blood pressure due to the Ethyl Alcohol used in it. P.S. - We re talking only a 5g dose, twice daily, with an unknown amount of Creatine Ethyl Ester. Not the amounts found in alcoholic beverages.

Yes, it increases the BP first followed by a fall, so it is dangerous.

Which is a worse condition? -

cardiomegaly or hypertension?

One answer: Hypertension. Cardiomegaly is a big heart, a big heart is MOST FREQUENTLY caused by long standing hypertension. There are other causes more infrequent like Chaga s disease, alcohol, etc., etc. The heart like any other muscle tissue if it is worked out will grow bigger to produce more force. Unfortunately your biceps muscle is nice when bigger but not your heart because it has to be hollow so that the blood fits inside of it. Hence a big heart will pump less blood. If you have hypertension it can be controlled with many very good available medications, at the same time diet and exercise will improve hypertension and even make you normotensive without the need for medication. So to finish answering the question and not digressing if you have cardiomegaly you most probably have hypertension anyways. Hope this helps.

This would take a textbook in Medicine to answer. There are several causes of cardiomegaly, almost all bad. Hypertension is one. Hypertension is bad news as well, with increased risk of stroke, kidney failure, heart failure, etc. So- the answer is neither-

Can u tell me the meaning of these?? -

i have some problems like.....severe back pain, abdominal pain,hypertension.....and so on.... Recently i can t move my left leg and hand properly...it s really hurts to take a step.... so i did my MRI of Lumbo-Sacral Sipne.....the Impression comes with,,......quot;Thecal sac/anterior epidural fat indentations andneural foraminal narrowing due to disc bulges at L4-5 and L5-S1 levels with posterolateral osteophytes at the respective levels as stated abovequot;.....now i wanna know the meaning of this words.....can me plz help me out...??

Osteophytes are overgrowths of bone that indicate arthritis. The inter-vertebral discs are cartilage pads that are in between bony vertebral bodies as cushions. Neural foramina are opening in the bony vertebra through which nerves exit as they go out to your legs. Lumbar vertebra are those in the small of your back and are numbered 1-5 top to bottom. Epidural fat is fatty tissue surrounding your spinal cord. The membrane that contains the spinal chord and the cerebral spinal fluid below the first lumbar disc is known as the thecal sac. This simply means you have degenerative arthritis and degenerative disc disease with the discs bulging out beyond their boundaries and impinging upon and causing narrowing of the nerve canals resulting in pressure on, or pinching of the nerves going to your legs. This can cause numbness and tingling, pain and weakness in the parts of the leg supplied by the pinched nerve, a condition commonly called sciatica.

Severe back pain; the pressure on the discs. Abdominal pain probally reflex reactions and or from meds you must be on. This is complicated by the meds for your hypertension. You probally had an accident to your spine- to cause the osteo build-up. The nerve pinch causing your hand and leg to retard movement is problematic with the root of the problem -the spine- in the main issue stream. You have a back problem and hypertension. This is thumbnail grab at what I can see with what little you have told us. What will you do? Ask your doctor, againquot; what is causing my pain?quot; He didn t tell you the first time. Oh, you are going to get a second and third opinion before any surgery. Not someone, that your doctor recommends. Someone they have never had contact with. Doctor call each other all the time and confer to concur.

Thecal (an enveoping sheath) sac/anterior (the front surface of) epidural(upon or external to the dura-the outer fibrous membrane of the spinal cord) fat indentations (zig-zag moulding) and neural foraminal (holes or openings) narrowing due to disc bulges at Lumbar vertebrae 4-5 and L5-S1 levels with postero (situated at the back) lateral (at or belonging to the side) osteophytes (a bony outgrowth or spur, usually at the margins of joint surface) at the respective levels as stated abovequot;

Is Wellbutrin right for me? -

Ok, so I ve been reading up on Wellbutrin and I have to say that the fact that many people have reported an increase in sex drive from mild to extreme is pretty appealing to me, as I m a 26 year old male and have no sex drive at all. I suffer from mild depression, mood swings, panic attacks, and hypertension. I am also very lethargic most of the time. My question is has anyone with these same symptoms improved greatly off of this medication? Did it make anyone MORE drowsy? I ve tried Paxil and Zoloft before and all I did was sleep and I felt like a zombie most of the time. Thanks!!

i have been on wellbutrin for a few months. the sexual side effects are WAY lower than the other meds. i haven t had any trouble with sleepiness. i also have hypertension, and it had no effect on that. all that being said, i feel it has not done too much for my depression/anxiety. but then again neither has zoloft, paxil, lexapro, cymbalta, celexa, or effexor. hope this helps you! Good Luck and good mental health!

I didn t have hypertension, but I took Wellbutrin for a VERY SHORT period of time. After 3 solid days of no sleep, I couldn t stand it anymore and got my doctor to switch my meds!

See your psychiatrist, he s the one that can diagnose and treat your symptoms, be careful, you may do more harm than good.

wellbutrin made me completely hyper and psycho...I was flipping out on everyone- Hope it works better 4 u

We seem to be in similar situations. I tried Prozac and Lexapro before my doc switched me to Wellbutrin. Mine is just for depression. The Prozac and Lexapro made me so tired and I felt like a zombie too. Like I was just out of it. I m really starting to wonder if all these anti-depressants are just a crock of the pharmaceutical companies. I m honestly not sure if Wellbutrin has made me feel any better. I m not as sleepy as the others made me. But, for me, there have been sexual side effects. I ve never heard of the increase in sex drive. Mine has gone down. Also, just so you know, maintaining a good erection while on the stuff is difficult. That s just the way anti-depressants work. And, and this can be a bonus for some guys but can also be frustrating for others, you can last a long time before you ejaculate. For some, it s great. For me, it can get kinda frustrating. I m just starting to wonder if I d get the same benefits from exercising every day and screw the anti-depressant.

Please can anyone explain why? -

For 2 days now i have had this really bad skin itch on my left shoulder there is nothing there though!it is on top of my shoulder and back of my neck.It feels like something is biting me but i,ve got no bite marks, rash heat bumps etc at all,but it is driving me mental scratching it also i keep getting a sharp pain where my collar bone is. Can anyone please explain what this might be?i do suffer with hypertension and nerves so could it be anything to do with either of these i don,t want to go docs just yet only due to the fact theres nothing to show them, and also can anyone recommend something to put on it,i am taking piriton but it don,t seem to be doing nothing. Hope someone can suggest something.

it could be eczema my friend has it read this article found it at just dont itch it thats what my friend does hope this helps and hope you get better with lots of care ? =] was exhausted. Increased stress at school, home, and work had made him extremely tired. It also made his skin act up. Not again, he thought — not another eczema flare-up! Eczema is a common skin problem. If you have eczema or think you might have it, here s how to deal with it. Some Skin Facts Your skin, which protects your organs, muscles, and bones and regulates your body temperature, can run into plenty of trouble. Acne occurs when your pores become clogged. But zits aren t the only skin problem you may encounter. Have you ever tried a new type of soap and developed an itchy rash? That reaction may just be eczema in action. What Is Eczema? Eczema (pronounced: ek-zeh-ma) is a group of skin conditions that cause skin to become red, irritated, itchy, and sometimes develop small, fluid-filled bumps that become moist and ooze. There are many forms of eczema, but atopic (pronounced: ay-tah-pik) eczema is one of the most common and severe. Doctors don t know exactly what causes atopic eczema, also called atopic dermatitis (pronounced: der-muh-tie-tis), but they think it could be a difference in the way a person s immune system reacts to things. Skin allergies may be involved in some forms of eczema. If you have eczema, you re probably not the only person you know who has it. Eczema isn t contagious like a cold, but most people with eczema have family members with the condition. Researchers think it s inherited or passed through the genes. In general, eczema is fairly common — approximately 1 in 10 people in the world will be affected by it at some point in their lives. People with eczema also may have asthma and certain allergies, such as hay fever. For some, food allergies (such as allergies to cow s milk, soy, eggs, fish, or wheat) may bring on or worsen eczema. Allergies to animal dander, rough fabrics, and dust may also trigger the condition in some people. Signs and Symptoms It can be difficult to avoid all the triggers, or irritants, that may cause or worsen eczema flare-ups. In many people, the itchy patches of eczema usually appear where the elbow bends; on the backs of the knees, ankles, and wrists; and on the face, neck, and upper chest — although any part of the body can be affected. In an eczema flare-up, skin may feel hot and itchy at first. Then, if the person scratches, the skin may become red, inflamed, or blistered. Some people who have eczema scratch their skin so much it becomes almost leathery in texture. Others find that their skin becomes extremely dry and scaly. Even though many people have eczema, the symptoms can vary quite a bit from person to person. What Do Doctors Do? If you think you have eczema, your best bet is to visit your doctor, who may refer you to a dermatologist (a doctor who specializes in treating skin). Diagnosing atopic eczema can be difficult because it may be confused with other skin conditions. For example, eczema can easily be confused with a skin condition called contact dermatitis, which happens when the skin comes in contact with an irritating substance like the perfume in a certain detergent. In addition to a physical examination, a doctor will take your medical history by asking about any concerns and symptoms you have, your past health, your family s health, any medications you re taking, any allergies you may have, and other issues. Your doctor can also help identify things in your environment that may be contributing to your skin irritation. For example, if you started using a new shower gel or body lotion before the symptoms appeared, mention this to your doctor because a substance in the cream or lotion might be irritating your skin. Emotional stress can also lead to eczema flare-ups, so your doctor might also ask you about any stress you re feeling at home, school, or work. If you re diagnosed with eczema, your doctor might: prescribe medications to soothe the redness and irritation, such as creams or ointments that contain corticosteroids, or antihistamine pills recommend other medications to take internally if the eczema is really bad or you get it a lot For some people with severe eczema, ultraviolet light therapy can help clear up the condition. Newer medications that change the way the skin s immune system reacts may also help. If eczema doesn t respond to normal treatment, your doctor may do allergy testing to see if something else is triggering the condition, especially if you have asthma or seasonal allergies. If you re tested for food allergies, you may be given certain foods (such as eggs, milk, soy, or nuts) and observed to see if the food causes an eczema flare-up. Food allergy testing can also be done by pricking the skin with an extract of the food substance and observing the reaction. But sometimes allergy testing can be misleading because someone may have an allergic reaction to a food that is not responsible for the eczema flare-up. If you re tested for allergy to dyes or fragrances, a patch of the substance will be placed against the skin and you ll be monitored to see if skin irritation develops. Can I Prevent Eczema? Eczema can t be cured, but there are plenty of things you can do to prevent a flare-up. For facial eczema, wash gently with a nondrying facial cleanser or soap substitute, use a facial moisturizer that says noncomedogenic/oil-free, and apply only hypoallergenic makeup and sunscreens. In addition, these tips may help: Avoid substances that stress your skin. Besides your known triggers, some things you may want to avoid include household cleaners, drying soaps, detergents, and fragranced lotions. H20 is a no-no. Too much exposure to water can dry out your skin, so take short warm — not hot — showers and baths and wear gloves if your hands will be in water for long periods of time. Be sure to gently and thoroughly pat your skin dry, as rubbing with a coarse towel will irritate the eczema. Also, it isn t the water that causes your skin to react; it s the water evaporating if not dried soon enough. Say yes to cotton. Clothes made of scratchy fabric like wool can irritate your skin. Cotton clothes are a better bet. Moisturize! A fragrance-free moisturizer such as petroleum jelly will prevent your skin from becoming irritated and cracked. Don t scratch that itch. Even though it s difficult to resist, scratching your itch can worsen eczema and make it more difficult for the skin to heal because you can break the skin and bacteria can get in, causing an infection. Keep your cool. Sudden changes in temperature, sweating, and becoming overheated may cause your eczema to kick in. Take your meds. Follow your doctor s or dermatologist s directions and take your medication as directed. Unwind. Stress can aggravate eczema, so try to relax. Dealing With Eczema There s good news if you have eczema — it usually clears up before the age of 25. Until then, you can learn to tune in to what triggers eczema and manage the condition. For example, if you have eczema and can t wear certain types of makeup, find brands that are free of fragrances and dyes. Your dermatologist may be able to recommend some brands that are less likely to irritate your skin. Your self-esteem doesn t have to suffer just because you have eczema, and neither does your social life! Getting involved in your school and extracurricular activities can be a great way to get your mind off the itch. If certain activities aggravate your eczema, such as swimming in a heavily chlorinated pool, suggest activities to your friends that won t harm your skin. Even if sweat tends to aggravate your skin, it s still a good idea to exercise. Exercise is a great way to blow off stress — just try walking, bike riding, or another sport that keeps your skin cool and dry while you work out.
