HOMEWORK HELP; Right Answer = 10 pts? -

Based only on information provided here, who of the following is most likely to develop coronary artery disease? Your answer: a - a female executive who has mild hypertension and no family history of coronary artery disease b -a male computer programmer who smokes and whose father died of a heart attack at age 49 c - a male farmer who drinks occasionally and plays golf two times a week d - a female computer programmer who smokes and whose mother died of cancer at age 55

b Male, smoker family history age

B - Smoking damages your arteries, which makes CAD more likely to develop. A family history of heart disease (esp. in relatively young family members) also makes it more likely you will develop it, esp. coupled with poor lifestyle choices. Also, it sounds like he may not get much exercise if he has an office job. If he does, exercise does a lot to help cholesterol and strengthen the heart BUT the sentence doesn t mention that at all.

I would like to answer all of the above. (d) would more likely get cancer. (C) Depends on if his occasional drink is red wine, and how bad his golf game is. (B) is a prime candidate. (a) can control her bp with medication and with no family history would probably equal (d). I ll have to choose (B) No. one killer of men. Smokes. Has family history. May or may not have a stressful job?

B (given the family history and the risk factors of smoking and having a sedentary job)

B! he has three risk factors: smoking, inactivity and significant family history of premature coronary artery disease

B! there is genetic predisposition AND environmental disposition... he sits all day and smokes!

a b and d they all have factors that can bring on heart disease

actually it can be all four, but the most likely person is either B or D

B
