Decribe the health teaching of a client with hypertension? -

First of all, find out what they already know. This is a good time to clear up any misconceptions. Go over the causes, and explain all the relevant physiology, how the vascular system works, etc. This is a good time to bring out the pictures, or draw some as you go along. Then head on out to the prescribed treatment, explain how it works and the most common side effects. This is a good time to ID for possible noncompliance with the treatment and nip it in the bud. For instance, many people won t comply because the don t actually feel sick. Then, go into non-pharmacological interventions, such as dietary treatment (freshwater fish is very, very good...mmm tuna!). Talk about stress reduction, esp. if your client is a type a personality. Let the client know that OTC agents/vitamins/herbs etc can be a good thing but they need to discuss with MD, because it is very possible for them to get their BP too low. Teach the client how to take their own BP, and provide a list of warning signs so they know when to contact MD. Emphasize the s/s of stroke. Finish up by evaluating and reteaching as necessary. Good luck!

First of all you need to discuss possible causes such a genetic, stress, diet, etc. Then individually brain storm to figure ways to alleviate some or all of causes and minimize the others ie genetic. Discuss with client need for life style change if called for and addition of medications if uncontrolled otherwise. Basically, any health care professional would need to know more about the HTN client too set-up teaching. Good luck with the teaching.

After medication, drs. often prescribe stress and anger management, yoga, anything that will relax you, as this will work with in conjunction with any meds.,
