How to reduce cholestrol? -

high hypertension and cholestrol living habits

Soluble fiber is very good at lowering cholesterol as it binds the bile (a digestive agent) amp; causes you to excrete it. The body makes more bile (to replace that which was lost - if it wasn t lost, the body tends to recycle bile) from cholesterol. You ll find soluble fiber in foods such as apples, oranges amp; oatmeal. Insoluble fiber is also good for your heart, so eat high fiber foods like beans amp; veggies. Sodium does not affect your cholesterol level, but it can affect heart health so it s best to keep it to a minimum. A little exercize, such as walking for 30 minutes 3 times a week, will also work wonders. If you eat a Whte bread, try to switch to something like Nature s Own White Wheat, which has lots of fibre. Try amp; drink fat-free or 1% milk instead of whole milk. A lot of little life-style changes will go a long way. Certain spices like hot peppers (capsaicins), turmeric (curcumin) amp; cinnamon can help reduce cholesterol. However, if your cholesterol is severely out of control, consult your physician. Statins work wonders

These are things that I have read; of course, you might already know that label-reading, checking the amount of cholesterol in everything you eat and greatly limiting it or cutting it out is a major start. Exercise, even if it just a good brisk walk--is important. Okay, eating blueberries--they have some natural cholesterol-lowering properties to help reduce your cholesterol as well. The next is pretty radical sounding: eat the peel of the orange with your orange wedges; I read somewhere that this also greatly reduces cholesterol levels. However, you should thoroughly wash your orange before eating it, (chemical sprays, etc.) and just start off with one wedge w/ peel at first. (I think you could eat just the peel if you don t like oranges that much...) You can work your way up to more once you get used to the process, but I don t know for sure how many you should eat, sorry. Obviously, you would need to still be on a strict cholesterol diet and good exercise program to make a difference. Avoid all fried foods, red meats, most pork, eggs--try quot;Egg Beatersquot; substitute, whole milk--try skim or better yet, Vanilla-flavored soy milk; the list of foods to avoid is extensive and long, so you will need to be creative and determined with your eating habits. There are all sorts of books and sites available to you on low/no cholesterol foods and cooking. Someone I know is having some success with Red Rice Yeast tablets and no-flush Niacin, I don t know of the exact amounts. I suggest discussing all of these alternative treatments with your physician first.

I would look for a product called core complex. This is a supplement for heart health. It has been prov-en to lower cholestrol. I would recommend a lifestyle change also. You can find core complex under heart health at the site below.

reduce sodium intake

join a gym and speak with a trainer... and eat your wheeties

increase your fiber intake to the recomded daily allowance. about 25 to 30 grams a day. a gradual increase would be best so you can adjust and give it a few months before you have your cholestrol checked again. it s hard to do, so you made need some fiber supplements to get you to the right amount. this dropped my cholesterol by 31 points. haven t had it checked again to see if it has dropped anymore. i also reduced my fat intake somewhat.
