Are you on meds for Bipolar? Some of these meds can cause the symptoms you mentioned, esp. if you missed a dose. Certainly, share this with your psychiatrist!!

My head rushed ears rang loud, pulse was 92 per min resting. This was induced by a cough! Almost passed out? -
Can a diabetic patient be given an ACE inhibitor even though her serum Creatinine is gt; 2.5? -
Yes. In most cases, prescribing an ACEI (or ARII blocker) is helpful in slowing the rate of progression of renal insufficiency in diabetics. As with any medication, there are risks involved - the most important things to watch for are in the blood biochemistry - serum potassium can rise sufficiently to require stopping or cutting back on the ACEI, and there may be a worsening in renal function. In general though, the decline in renal function (ie, increase in serum creatinine) is small and non-progressive, allowing the drug to be continued, with good results. So: Yes they can, and often are Drawbacks with high potassium or worsening of renal function are easily spotted and dealt with.
ACE inhibitors are used to treat HBP and Diabetes. That s what they were made for. Ask your doctor about Liprinosil. It treats those two conditions in addition to heart failure.
My MD took me off them even though many recommend ACE inhibitors. My kidney (I only have 1 left) was doing poorly on ACE inhibitor. With her kidneys that hammered she may be spilling potassium and that will give hypertension. Potassium works better for me than the meds. A good book re diabetes is creatinine was helped by 300mg Q10 daily. LEF.org was where I found the info re Q10 They say patients are avoiding dialysis with it. They are a good website. Been around for decades. Build muscle. I think glucose tolerance is affected a lot by inadequate muscle mass. Kind of hard to do without legs though. Do what you can.
I am 18 and my doctor put me on the DASH diet. What is it exactly!? ? -
DASH diet is a diet for people with high cholesterol level. The DASH diet eating plan has been proven to lower blood pressure in studies sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension). The DASH diet is based on an eating plan rich in fruits and vegetables, and low-fat or non-fat dairy. Type of food Number of servings for 1600 - 3100 Calorie diets Servings on a 2000 Calorie diet Grains and grain products (include at least 3 whole grain foods each day) 6 - 12 7 - 8 Fruits 4 - 6 4 - 5 Vegetables 4 - 6 4 - 5 Low fat or non fat dairy foods 2 - 4 2 - 3 Lean meats, fish, poultry 1.5 - 2.5 2 or less Nuts, seeds, and legumes 3 - 6 per week 4 - 5 per week Fats and sweets 2 - 4 limited Top 10 DASH Diet Tips Use grocery store salad bars for lots of cut up fresh vegetables. Frozen vegetables make it easy to add 2 or more servings of veggies to your meal. Double up on veggies. A serving is 1/2 cup, so a full cup makes 2 servings. Berry-licious is having fresh berries on your cereal. Nonfat fruit yogurt, artificially sweetened, makes a wonderful snack or quick breakfast. All nuts are heart healthy. Making yours salt-free boosts their DASH benefits. Some convenience foods make your DASH diet great. Look for bagged ready-to-eat cut up veggies, like baby carrots, broccoli sprigs, lettuce, cabbage slaw, broccoli slaw, cauliflower tops, etc. Make your plate colorful. Add 1 - 2 cooked vegetables and a side salad with more than just greens. Make your coffee a latte with 8 ounces of skim milk. Smoothies made with skim milk, fresh fruit, and no added sugar make a fast way to maximize the DASH potential of your diet. Avoid: salty products, like salted nuts, prickles; butter and other high fat diary products, fatty meats, alcohol and tobacco.
look at the nutritional label on the food product - if it has a shitload of salt in it dont eat it

Any one can help me with this septic shock state? -
a. Tachycardia, generalized edema, and warm skin Septic shock is a high output shock due to vasodilatation caused by bacterial endotoxin. Hence skin can be warm, unlike in other forms of shock.
I d say the answer would be (a), because with infection, the patient would have tachycardia (especially if the BP is crashing). Generalized edema would be present due to changes caused by an inflammatory response (quot;leakyquot; vessels, causing fluid to leak into the interstitial space). Warm skin would be present if the patient had a fever. In late sepsis, skin may be cold and mottled due to shunting (circulatory shut-down). Wouldn t be (b), because bradycardia is not associated with shock. Wouldn t be (d) because hypotension is present in septic shock. And I can t see why (c) would be the answer, since respiratory distress isn t a defining characteristic of shock.
Can dialysis cause dehydration? -
If too much fluid is removed during dialysis it may cause dehydration.
You have to have dialysis, So my guess is it did not cause the dehydration. I would say he is not drinking his fluids like he should...
Anyone know causes of one leg swelling?i have a history of blood clots and antiphospholipid syndrome.? -
One swollen leg can indicate an ovarian tumor. Have your gyno check you out with an ultra sound or MRI. Good luck.
don t know good luck
Can anybody please tell me how taking tomato juice with a teaspoon of paprika added to it act as a homeopathic -
its not homeopathic remedies are diluted until barely a molecule of the original ingredient remains in fact, a commonly found homeopathic dilution is 24X (same as 12C)........ at this level of dilution, the original material is diluted 1,000,000,000,000 ,000,000,000,000 times and - at that level of dilution - it is possible that NO molecules of the original solution remain in the homeopathic remedy
The connection is fairly tenuous. There is a suggestion that dietary potassium helps reduce hypertension by increasing the amount of sodium (salt) that the kidneys remove in urine. Tomatoes contain potassium so many health food sites make the assumption that tomatoes are good for hypertension. The paprika is only there for flavouring. The recommended level or potassium intake is about 4.5g per day which could be provided by eating 10 large tomatoes.
Add some Vodka and you ve got a Bloody Mary. What you are describing is not homeopathic. Homeopathic treatments are diluted in water until there is no measurable active ingredient left (the Law of Infintesimals) For the record, there is no homeopathic potion that can effectively treat hypertension. Natural treatments involve avoiding salt, alcohol and caffeine, getting regular exercise and maintaining a healthy body weight.
Are vitamin C and Potassium absorbed mainly by the kidneys? -
The Kidneys do indeed absorb nutrients contrary to the last answer. Calcium, sodium, protein (from urine), waste products from blood and even some metals are absorbed by the kidney. They do excrete most of these nutrients but not all and consequently become damaged and diseased by those they can t excrete completely. Potassium and Vitamin C are absorbed well by the body and RAS would typcially not prevent their absorption. However, the fact that you suddenly are craving these foods is probably indicative of some deficiency although your Physician would have to establish why it is occuring. Athletes with extended bouts of high exertion and physical activity tend to crave such nutrients based on exhausting the body s supply. So you could very well be low on these nutrients, but specific blood work can confirm this. Here s an excellent overview of RAS from emedicine: http://www.emedicine.com/MED/topic2001.h...
That is totally wrong. The kidneys DO NOT absorb anything out of the GI tract. They filter glucose from the blood and then absorb it back into the blood. That is a net functional zero absorption. Report Abuse
They kidneys do not absorb anything, they are the site of excretion of Vitamin C and some Potassium. Both of those are absorbed by the small intestine just like almost everything else and the gut tube isn t even connected directly to the kidneys. You must remember that it is possible to give one of your kidneys up and still live well. You normally only use about a fourth of one kidney, so having low blood flow to one of them would not make a significant impact on your body. I can t think of any way these two are linked, but let me know if they are.

What can these symptoms mean? I am a 22 yr. old female.? -
No idea... but holy S*#@... I feel bad for you. 22 and you have all this. Best of luck with your diagnosis and treatment. Take care.
Dehydration is what it sounds like to me. Thats exactly what happened to me. But with all of the things you ve been through, i m not sure. Hope everything works out! =) (here is a description of what happened to me : http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
I think that with all the ailments you have and all the postings you have done concerning your illnesses, with working in an ER, gone to Private Nursing School, and the mountain of medical professionals taking care of you, you should try checking in for a Psych evaluation. Want to call me cruel and mean do so. But I READ Qamp;A S.
I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Why did I get it ? -
you re right-you re doomed. everytime you stuff one of those yummies in your mouth, consider this...uncontrolled diabetes leads to vision loss, decreased circulation (leading to amputation of your leg or legs) , kidney failure(but that 3-4 hours on a dialysis machine 3 times a week will give you some time to reflect on your sorry situation) and cardiac problems(with your weight and hypertension, it s a given) plus a hundred other health probs r/t diabetes. contact the american diabetic assoc today.
The answer is in your question...6 1quot; and 275 pounds. Probably no exercise either. You just rammed your body with so much glucose over the years that the pancreas couldn t keep up. You have my sympathy, but unless you do something to change your eating and exercise habits then chances are your health is going to worsen.
My father, mother, several uncles and aunts, and my sister all had (most deceased now) or have diabetes. Therefore I am chosing to quot;have a chance of eating properlyquot; by ignoring the quot;yummiesquot; out there for the most part, and giving my body a fighting chance with excellent nutrition, plenty of purified water, lots of fiber, and regular exercise. You really don t have a question in the quot; Why me?quot; portion of your question. What you have is the answer to your question. Everything you said is why you. The good news is, since you were quot;justquot; diagnosed, you can probably reverse it somewhat. Your attitude will be the first thing you have to change. If you continue the quot;guess I m doomedquot; mentality, all your aspirations of being an overweight very sick individual, sucking down another lemon pie, will come true. Would you like to celebrate your 56th birthday? As Jim Rohn says, it s not the wind that determines your direction, it s the set of the sail.
I m sorry to hear that. Well, diabetes is hereditary so if your entire family has it, you have a much higher chance of getting it as well.
with your family history you were predisposed to get diabetes .But unless you are extremely muscular you are obese and this is why it showed itself. If you had maintained a normal body weight and took reasonable exercises it probably would not have developed. Your insulin level is probably higher than normal(it usually is with type 2)but you have all the markers of insulin resistance. What can you do: 1 If smoker STOP no open for discussion 2 Eat sensibly-no sugary drinks/alcohol No refined carbohydrates low glycaemic index food Reduce saturated fats in diet this should lead to a gradual weight loss 3 increase exercises- walk gradually increase and aim to walk steadily for a hour at least 5 days a week 4 stick at it .Your diabetes developed after years it will take more than 5 mins to get better. If you reduce your weight and take exercises all the evidence is that your insulin resistance will improve, you BP will improve, as will your blood sugar. you may be started on oral anti diabetic drugs and other drugs depending on your lipids but if you follow the above then you may later be able to reduce or even stop them.If you don t then it may be necessary to use insulin to get better control. To a large extent the ball is in your court. Self neglect and self responsibility. Why me -You choose-the yummies are there but you do not have to eat them -your choice -your body-your health-your future. You cannot blame anyone else.Sorry if I sound hard but there are no half measures here for you.
you could be boarder line diabetic and it can be reversed talk to your doctor and there is a book i found called Fix-It and Forget-It Diabetic Cookbook by Phyllis Pellman Good that will help you get on a proper diet for someone w/ diabetes
Type II diabetes is usually caused by a secondary problem like mine comes from having multiple cysts in my ovaries that made me insulin resistant.
As you listed family members have it which means itis genetic. And I would check with your doctor but it sounds like you are overweight. You need to eat healthy.Losing weightwill help you with both medical problems.
What wil happen if made wrong medication for asthma when youre supposed to be having symptoms of heart attack -
the ventolin is not used to treat heart problems of any kind. i suggest you talk to your doctor . you may also need to be treated for anxiety
YOU SHOUYLD GO BACK TO THE DOCTOR,,,, AND CONFIRMED YOUR MEDICATION WITH HIM,
the inhalor will not treat the symptoms of a heart attack.
155 over 90-something normal for blood pressure test? -
This is not normal especially the 91 diastolic pressure. If this test was done by a doctor I would be concerned and the doctor would take action. Since it was done with a machine in a drugstore I would not put much worry time into it. The cuffs on these machines usually do not fit properly and give false readings. However I believe I would go to your nearest ambulance station and ask them to check your blood pressure, they will most probably do it for free or go to your local fire company and let them do it. (Not all fire companies have EMT s available). Being twenty years old you should be around 120/80.
That is not normal. Especially at his age. But those drug store machines are often not accurate. He does need to go get it checked just to be safe. He should probably be around 120 over 70.
I cant feel textures from my fingertips, why? -
My friends bf can stand alot of pain becausehe cant really feel the pain in his hands. YOu have high blood pressure in your baick and shoulders??? srsly, hypertension=high blood pressure. And why didnt u ask ur dr when u were there?
well i know people that have been on a disk sander and sanded their finger tips off and when they healed back up they had the same thing it was nerve damage so if you did something like that im sure that would be your problem
You may not have as many nerves on the tips of your fingers as most people do. It may not be too big of a deal. You should consult your doctor, but it may be due to a lack in your diet. It takes certain vitamins to make the sodium and potassium jump those synapses!

Can a fix a squint in my left eye? -
You should be attending an ophthalmologist, get your GP to refer you.
Go and see your doctor and get him to refer you to the hospital eye clinic. You may need an operation to correct it. Good luck.
Tingling sensation only on right side? -
could be anything from a dental problem or pinched nerve or even the way you sleep.chances are it will go away in time. but if its really bothering you. see a doc .
With HTN it could be a stroke.
Those tingling sensations are caused by a spirit (ghost). The next time it happens just think, quot;hello, quot; and see if it responds.
My tita is sick in the mind, we cannot afford to confine her in a private nursing home, what to do? -
Here in the US, you would call the Health Dept. and ask what to do, or if they have any ideas for placement. Tell them the kinds of things she does--if she puts herself or anyone else in danger, she might qualify for some kind of mental health placement. Otherwise, look into quot;adult day carequot; or quot;respite care.quot; The first one takes care of older people while you are at work, and the second takes care of them to give you a break every now and then. Or you could hire someone to come into her home to take care of her. Sorry, I do not know the Puerto Rican healthcare system, but I hope somebody who does can help you. Buena suerte.
SHE HAS WHAT US AMERICANS CALL quot; ALZHEIMERS DISEASEquot; OR MAYBE SCHIZOPHRENIA OR BIPOLAR DEPRESSION
try to ask some nursing homes in your area, golden acres in QC,its run by the govt.theres a lot of non for profit org out there, ask for referrals from philippine mental health. consult a psychiatrist too, might prescribe some medicine to calm her anxiety down. good luck
have you ever read the book quot; The Giverquot; you should it gives very good instruction on how to deal with your issue
Everyone has a troble old odds you re not the only one who are suffering form your tita s insanity. It s really hard listening to her feelings but it would work though time!
You need to see a doctor and ask if anything can be done about her. He might have a suggestion, you can also ask the government for assistance, look in the yellow pages. If she is making people sick, she needs to be institutionalized. You could be eligible for Government assistance.
Ways to bring down blood pressure? -
Potassium plays a large factor in controlling b/p since it helps the heart go thumpity thump thump on a regular basis. Most doctor s do not tell you when they prescribe a med for hypertension that you may need to keep watch on your potassium level, as some of the meds tend to knock the potassium lower than what you need it to have a healthy b/p. Please read food labels and increase your intake of potassium. V-8 juice, Juicy Juice, many dried fruits are high in potassium. Potatoes, green leafy veg s, certain cereals, grains, are also high in potassium. Just explore and you ll find a bunch of things which are good for your heart. I learned the hard way. I was hospitalized a couple of times since my primary care physician did NOT tell me this little tid bit of info. Since I ve found out, I faithfully drink my favorite juices which are high in potassium, plus consume the fruits and vegs which also are. Also, please try and keep your stress level low, or at a manageable rate. Stress can raise your b/p faster than one would think. Meditation, or just alone time is advised. If someone annoys you, walk away. All has been well since I began this regime. Good luck to your own self.
Hi Lady Rhinestone Believe it or not, getting enough Vitamin D can really help. I ll leave you with some interesting links on this and other ways to bring your blood pressure down without drugs. href="rel="nofollow">href="rel="nofollow">href="rel="nofollow">href="rel="nofollow">href="rel="nofollow">href="rel="nofollow">hope this helps some! Good luck!
i would definitely try cutting back on your salt intake. water follows salt.. so if salt is accumulating in your body.. so is water. the fluid retention increases your blood pressure. also, if you don t already exercise, start doing so. even just walking several times a week is beneficial. lifestyle modifications are just as important as the antihypertensives you are taking.
Unsure. Highly recommend check these books out for more info. They are Our Bodies, Ourselves (and Worst Pills, Best Pills: A Consumer s Guide to Avoiding Drug-Induced Death or Illness (http://www.worstpills.org).
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE PROBLEMS: Try eating 20 Goji Berries every day, or drink 4 oz. 100% pure Goji Berry Juice daily to normalize blood pressure. Avoid OTC meds as they can interreact with your prescription b/p meds and send blood pressure skyrocketing to the point you have to go to the ER for help. People who suffer from high blood pressure usually need daily supplements of the following: garlic, celery, Omega fish oils, potassium, calcium, zinc, selenium, and magnesium. The following foods help to normalize blood pressure when eaten: Skim milk, spinach, unsalted sunflower seeds, beans, baked white potatoes, bananas, soybeans, and dark chocolate. Drink lots of pure water every day, a minimum of 4 pints or 8 glasses, and you will feel better fast. Blood Pressure meds can cause your electrolytes to get out of balance. Electrolytes are a simple mixture of sugar, salt, and water. GATORADE You can make your own Gatorade for pennies by taking a gallon water, 1 cup orange juice, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 cup sugar, and 1 pkg. Lemon-lime Kool Aid. Mix together and enjoy. This recipe replaces the electrolytes needed within. For instant relief, stick your index fingers in both your ears and push them up slightly. Hold to the count of ten. This should lower your blood pressure at once. Try eating two apples a day. The pectin may help. Eat avocadoes, beets, cantaloupe, figs, lemons, limes, and garlic to normalize blood pressure. Eat raw garlic in a salad, and cook with it or take 600 mg. garlic capsules daily. Eat two bananas daily. Bananas contain both potassium and magnesium. Eat four stalks celery daily to normalize your blood pressure. Salmon, tuna, and mackerel all contain the necessary fish oils. You can also buy these fish oils at an herb store and take in capsules. Look for Omega-3 fish oils. Eat 1/2 cup blueberries daily. Sprinkle cayenne pepper on your food daily. Take 500 mg. Vitamin C daily. Gallium Nitrate Cream (14% strength) can be applied topically for relief of arthritis pain. Mullein is a good herbal pain reliever. Watch your table salt (sodium chloride) intake. Use Celtic sea salt, or gray salt, if you like, as it is not robbed of all its nutrients.
Is coffee bad for you? -
Somethings such as coffee can be good for you in moderation You won t die without coffee, I don t even think you can benefit from it (other than a temporary fix) It dehydrates you and speeds up your digestive system in a no so healthy way If lack of energy is the issue I would look into foods or even tea to get that extra pep in your step *tea has more caffeine than coffee :)
A decent amount of coffee per day (1-2 cups) is not bad for you.
its good in moderation, yes. except i new study has recently shown that if you are a women struggling with an infertility problem, it may worsen it. but if you don t have any such problem then it is fine

Does anyone know how effective colour therapy is in healing? -
I believe it depends on the individual. Check out this site:
Ive been having the periorbital edema? -
You had worn eye make up after which you developed this edema. Though you had some problems in the past, you have a sensitive body as indicated by allergic rhinitis. I think it may take some time to disappear but it is allergic edema only, still if you consult your doctor proly you will feel better. He/she may like to prescribe some steroids as well. Good luck!
It depends on when you last took steroids. Steroids you took most proly already are consumed. Secondly, if you have been taking frequently, your own adrenals are not making enough as they are suppressed. So I feel you will need those, but after doctor s advice. I hope it helps. Good luck! Report Abuse
I had a sudden onset of left sided chest pain when i breathed in deeply. what is the cause? -
Could be many things. Pulled muscle, pneumonia, asthma, or heart issue. If you are still feeling pain, you should call your doctor. They will advise you. If your pain is debilitating, call 911 - you have no time to be online. Good luck!
CALL 911.. I love the questions like I have a car on fire what do i do...
see a doctor. I cant believe you people think the people on here know something about chest pain. do you think we are all just unemployed doctors on here making sure that someone doesnt have a heart attack? wow!
If it is upon deep inspiration than it is most likely pleurisy, an inflammation of the lining of the lungs, which would fit in with the headache. Its probably viral. If you start having sweating, shortness of breath with this or it worsens be evaluated by a physician.
if it s when you breathe in deeply and not when you ve taken a breath out, it s not cardiac related. This does not sound like a heart attack (though with hypertension you should be wary of this). Most likely it is chest wall pain, possibly caused by pulling a muscle or a pleuralism. If this continues for a few hours, or is coupled with diziness or loss of breath, or if the pain happens when you are relaxing, I would advise you to seek immediate medical care
The sauna is good for people with high blood pressure? -
sauna, thermal water are all contraindicatons for patients with hypertension, can be very dangerous if u stay for long
Not true saunas have been proven to lower blood pressure. Persons with low blood pressure should be concerned Report Abuse
The temperature range should not be really high if you want to participate in sauna. It is the high heat and the extreme change in temps that does bad things. If you were used to using sauna, I see no reason why you didn t continue it. Those who suddenly want to use sauna and are not used to it are the ones who suffer heart events hence the warnings. The same applies to hot tubs and spas. You might want to check with your doctor since you have quit, and see what he says.
It dilates the capillaries which allows for less resistance. Less resistance from a greater space with the same volume allows the pressure to actually lower. I wouldn t recommend jumping in the pool/ cold water directly afterwards, however, because this can raise blood pressure. If you have any doubts, contact your doctor.
It s generally not recommended and without the express permission of your cardiologist/internist I would caution you to avoid saunas or exposure to such heat sources.
i would think not since it might raise the b/p

Bananas and hypotension low blood pressure? -
My pressure is always on the low side. I love bananas, especially ripe bananas. It does not make my pressure lower than it normally would would be. What is needed to be understood, is that natural foods regulate the proper functioning of our bodies. They help to produce electrochemical signals that tells cell/organs what to do. When these signals are weak or absent, then there is a problem whereby an organ does not know when to stop what it is doing or start what it needs to do. It is also noteworthy that natural foods do not carry isolates, but certain biological compounds that have to be broken down by the body to form compounds that can be absorbed. This process takes time and usually result in timely distribution of nutrients in compounds that are usually in ratios compatible to proper body functions. Most if not all health problems developed is as a result of critical nutrients being absent from the diet. And even among those that inherit certain illnesses, the effect can be reduced with the right diet which does not mean abstinence, but addition of natural foods not customary in the diet. In the body the average ratio of potassium to sodium should be approximately a ratio of 5:1. Assuming that the manufacturer of KSalt took this into consideration, then the use of this salt should not be a problem especially since salt should always be used in moderation. Please note that eating extra salt does not correct low blood pressure. Your overall diet does.
(actually increasing your intake of salt does increase your blood pressure, but only if you drink enough fluids with it. Salt increases water retention which increases your blood volume which raises your blood pressure.) As for the question about potassium, I have no clue but it seems worthy of looking into.
potassium won t affect your blood pressure directly. it is mostly involved in the fluid balance of our cells.
yes
Does blood pressure affect heart rate? -
Blood pressure and heart rate are linked but the mechanisms are very complex. The key here is what medication you are on, as certain anti-hypertensives, especially beta blockers like metoprolol, will lower your heart rate as well as affecting your blood pressure. As long as you are not suffering any chest pain, dizziness (especially on standing up), palpitations or blackouts you should be completely safe with a slightly reduced heart rate. 80bpm is a healthy resting rate anyway. If you are still concerned about this discuss it with the doctor who prescribed you your medications.
The heart rate fluctuates over the day. High BP can cause it to raise because of the arteries being constricted causes the heart to work harder. Also, some BP medications such as Beta Blockers will decrease the heart rate.
yep
Im a nursing student. Looking for nursing intervention for deformed penis. Where can I look? -
Cathie, I sent you an IM and answered your other question. I ll give you hand with this. E-mail me at nurselmh@sbcglobal.net with a brief Hamp;P. I ll also need to know what the deformity is and if it causes dysuria or affects self-esteem/body image, sexual performance or lack thereof.
Please use my e-address, NOT Yahoo! Answers. Report Abuse
So let me get this right. Some nut has a unique penis and you want to right a paper on it? I guess it depends on the extent of the deformity. Some women might just find this guy quot;attractivequot;!
I agree with Jack. If the guy has an issue with his penis deformity, then you can have nursing interventions related to altered self esteem and/or coping. Also, maybe something on education depending on the situation. If he doesn t have a problem with it, then you don t list it as a problem other than note it in the assessment.
SOAPIE format? This format was out of date 10 years ago. Deformed penis....what is deformed about it. Does HE complain about it affecting his sexual performance? Does the deformity cause urinary problems or any clinical problems? If not it is not a problem. Only your problem. Which is not the same. Get it.
I have a unique question here, its really about weight, so I have a cousin who is a female she is 16? -
What a fatty.
She should eat a diet with lots of wholefoods. She should stay away from processed foods, fats, sugars, and salts. Check out this site on healthy nutrition. check out the book link, they have lots of great books listed.
she is fat hooker
If the doctors that she is currently seeing are correct in their diagnosis, then they should be able to regulate her so that she will be able to control her weight. If they haven t had any success in regulating her, then she needs to keep seeing doctors until she finds someone who can help her. Go to an Otolaryngology Clinic. Her problems are past the purview of a GP. By the way, your sister has a serious weight problem as well. She needs to get some help. It may even be a medical issue with her, as well. If not now, it will be.
As an EMT I don t know everything in the medical field but I can tell you that what your cousin has is a true medical problem. She is not overeating or causing harm to her own body. If anything she needs support not cameras. A thyroid problem can cause extreme drops though usually gains in weight. Also be being a diabetic with sickle cell does not help. I believe that you do not need to speak with another doctor but instead a health diet nutritionist who has a medical back round. Perhaps someone with that training can help.
If you ve had 5 seperate PROFESSIONALS tell you the same thing, what makes you think that a bunch of people online are gonna know any better? I, for one, don t know what to say. Except that if your 12 year old sister is pushing 300, she needs help, too.
You shouldn t be asking us here on Yahoo. You should talk to the professionals; the doctors. Not too sure you ll get good advice here.
Stomach stapling or jaw wiring.
No, I am sure its because of her thyroid, but why can t the doctor s regulate her thyroid? Usually you get meds for that sort of thing. Maybe your family should consult another doctor.
if she is hyperthyroid, that usually makes u lose weight. hypo is when it is slowed down. i guess she has prob been to an endocrinologist right? if not she needs a specialist.
You say that she doesn t overeat but what exactly is she eating and how much is she eating. A lot of overweight people don t eat that much, but the foods that they eat have very little nutrition (vitamins, minerals, etc.) but are high in calories. A normal person needs 2000 calories per day. In order to lose weight, she needs to eat less than that. You should restrict her diet to 1500 calories per day. In addition, what kind of exercise does she do? Just walking on a treadmill doesn t burn that much calories - you need to get her jogging or on an elliptical machine to lose the calories. She needs to do lots of cardio - if the personal gym only involves weights, then she s not going to drop the pounds. I would suggest that you get her a referral to a nutritionist and start an exercise program at a gym.

Any knowledge if Stemcell treatment could reverse or improve renal function of about 20%? -
Hypertension and renal failure can be caused by polysystemic candidiasis. It s a result of our modern diet. href="rel="nofollow">could try an antifungal such as Nystatin. It may also help to try eliminating wheat, dairy, and sugars from his diet for a few days and see what happens.

Is there any alternative treatment to avoid liver transplant? -
While continuing under the monitoring of your doctor, since you have time even if you opt for a transplant, homeopathy can be quite effective depending on how far your cirrhosis has progressed. Minimally, homeopathy can help with ongoing symptoms and prepare your body to be in its best condition if a transplant remains justified. lists homeopaths in all professions certified to practice classical homeopathy in North America. is a good website to learn more about homeopathy. In my own practice, I ve helped a number of people reverse the condition. When irreversible, homeopathy has stopped its progression. Homeopathy approaches healing from a number of directions, in addition to helping your liver. I would imagine ayurveda similarly offers hope, as would acupuncture (any comprehensive standalone field). Best wishes.
Homeopathy can neither stop progress or reverse cirrhosis. That is a complete fabrication. Homeopathy is useless.non treatment. Report Abuse
Unfortunately, from your brief description, there is no alternative . Cirrhosis means that the functional cells of your liver (hepatocytes) have been replaced by scar tissue, most commonly from exposure to toxins like alcohol, or infections like Hepatitis C. When the liver is a big mass of scars, then the blood that normally passes through it via the portal vein, is shunted to other smaller veins that surround the stomach and esophagus. They are too small to handle this amount of blood, swell up and will bleed. Please don t take any advice on this very serious, life threatening condition from the Alties...they don t know what they are talking about.
Its unlikely you will get much joy from alternatives if your Liver is too far gone. Although the Liver has enourmous capacity to regenerate it isn t infinate. If a liver has got to the stage of Cirrhosis it will continue to have compromised function and may not detriorate any further. If it deteriorates further it gets to the to the point of life threatening sooner or later. Liver transplants aren t easy and spare Livers aren t easy to come by. its unlikely this would have been recomended unless your situation is very serious because unlike hip replacements you cant just pick a prosthetic replacement off the shelf. While you are on the waiting list you may want to try some alternatives but do some careful research if you do. In the unlikely event you show massive improvement while waiting you can discuss your option with the surgeon.
If your condition has reached the point of transplant, there is no alternative. Alternative medicine can offer a lot of help in a lot of situations, but there are no miracle cures available just by drinking the right tea or doing the right yoga routine.
Despite what some people have said - not all complementary therapists do not know what they are talking about. I would however advise you in your situation to stick with what your doctor is telling you. Of course you do not have to do that. It s your life...
Ayurveda does not have Intensive care units and Emergency treatments
Milk thistleis excellent for the liver and can even help to reverse cirrhosis. My fiance s friend cured himself of hepatitis C with milk thistle as well.
What can these symptoms mean? I am a 22 yr. old female.? -
Some of this is above my head, but I have many of the same conditions: POTS, heart arrhythmia, asthma, ibs, chronic uti and sinusitis. I also have several different conditions related to my brain that are related. But nonetheless, I can offer my input that my POTS specialist has told me that all of the symptoms you listed can be symptoms of POTS. You need to have it under careful control. I was diagnosed 4 1/2 years ago at age 19, and I m just now reaching levels of stability. This is done through midodrine 3-4 times a day, salt tablets twice a day, and high fluid intake. However if you have hypertension, not hypotension, you may need a different treatment. The best thing for me has been getting informed about every diagnosis, especially the less common ones. I ve listed a few websites below that could be helpful. Good luck to you!
Family Phenomenon, are these events related? -
A person can DIE from fainting??? I ve NEVER heard of that!!! And the only way I can think of that that could happen, is if he /she fainted and fell in somewhere that was dangerous.
Your diagnosis would have nothing at all to do with any of your family members conditions except the last one, involving the fainting. Strokes and blood clots as well as heart attacks though cardiovascular problems are completely different from yours. Your condition does make you prone to passing out which could be similiar( or not) to what happened to your cousin.
I want to stop taking Lisinopril before becoming pregnant? -
My main suggestion is DO NOT stop the meds! I am on lisinopril and another med, I have lost 85lbs in the last 8 months and my BP has not come down....so don t rely on weight loss alone. If you are to be taken off the lisinopril the chances are high that it will need to be replaced with another med. Don t attempt it without medical supervision, it could be dangerous. You will need guidance regarding pregnancy anyway and you need the right advice from the doctor, not here.
There is a problem with ACE inhibitors like lisinopril in pregnancy and 10 mg lisinopril is a low dose so maybe it can be stopped Use of more than one medication can increase risk of teratogenicity in pregnancy. The diovan can be increased to a higher dose if needed You need to have your own blood pressure machine to monitor your blood pressure daily Use less than 2 gram sodium in your diet per day Increase fruits and vegetables to 3-5 servings per day Go on folic acid as this decreases neural tube defects
Try talking to a pharmacist
Have you noticed this when you take certain medication? -
yes I have. one time I had to take an antibiotic and I wound up with diarrhea for the whole 7 days that I had to take it. It would happen all of a sudden, too. that totally sucked.
I had strep throat once, and I was prescribed an antibiotic that I reacted terribly to; after taking the pill, I threw up and was possessed by dry-heaves after my stomach was completely empty. So I don t know if the reaction was worse than the original illness, but the pill was ineffective because I threw it up whenever I tried to take it and whenever I tried to eat anything. I became so weak that I blacked out the next morning. My doctor switched me to a milder antibiotic; have you talked to yours?
Yes, that s why you must research the side effect of the medication you are taking!!! I have been down that road before my friend, when you discontinue the meds all those things should go away in a week or so.
Yeah, been there, done that. Makes me think it s not worth going to the doctor.

Heart Related - Dilated LV with Infero Apico lateral Hypokinesia and LVEF 45-50%? -
A normal EF is considered gt;55%, so this means your heart muscle is a little weak. If this is a result of hypertension, obviously blood pressure control is absolutely necessary to prevent your heart from getting weaker. Sometimes medication can help your heart muscle get stronger. The infero-apical-lateral hypokinesis means that part of the heart (bottom and side walls) are not squeezing as well as they should. This probably needs further testing with a stress test or even cardiac catheterization to make sure there is no underlying coronary artery disease. A weak heart can be from ischemic heart disease also, and you want to make sure that hypertension isn t the only problem! Hope this helps!
Help I have a severe case of lupus I cant work How do i put the pieces of my life back together. please help -
Not only is lupus debilitating, but then you have people in Yahoo answers trying to sell you stuff or get you into pyramid schemes. 1. Apply for Social Security disability. It takes time and you will probably be rejected at least twice. They have changed the criteria for lupus recently. That might help. I suggest getting a SSD attorney to give you a free consult before you even begin. Some of them will do that. Keep calling until you find one who will. 2. Find out if there is an indigent health care program where you live. I know it sounds horrible. I, too, am college educated and had a wonderful career and ended up just about like you for quite while. Just do it. 3. Apply for food stamps. 4. See if there is housing assistance. 5. Look into the SHARE grocery program 6. Apply for meds with pprax or needymeds. If you make less than 200% of the poverty level you will most likely get assistance paying for your meds 7. When you see your doctors, make sure they write down the struggles you are having. Social Security will request copies of ALL your medical records. Make sure what s in them is in your favor. 8. You have lupus, it doesn t have you. Try to remember that. 9. About the one who said go off the chemo, I am assuming that s cellcept or imuran. Don t do it. That person has no clue. 10. You sound like you are a proactive person in a tough spot. Feel free to email me. Best wishes.
Hope you are still around to view this, as I see you asked your question awhile ago now. The key is to alkalize yourself and get rid of acid in the body. You ve already tried the conventional drugs, now it s time to look at alternatives. Diet plays a big part in the growth of Lupus and in the eradication of it. In fact, aside from a genetic factor if there is one, I think diet is the only other reason for the Lupus condition, A few pointers I have picked up from experience... Eat only alkaline foods. Fruit and Veg. are generally alkalizing. Avoid all junk food. Avoid all convenience food. Avoid sodas and drink only water. Raw sugars and yeasts are bad. Take apple cider vinegar in spoonfuls per day. Take a good vitamin D supplemenant and do this twice daily. Try to find one that is non-acidic and eat foods that are rich in vitamin D as much as possible. Do not do this half-heartedly or it simply won t work. You need to be serious about what you re doing in order to get serious results. I would lay off the chemo. if you pursue my suggestions. I amn t a big fan of radiation as a treatment anyways, despite what it is said to achieve.
This is a testimony of someone who working with my Nutritionist and the GNLD products had some excellent results, I have sent him your letter to see what he recommends, Please read and contact me at dhiner@gmail.com to learn more. PS this could also be the answer to your financial woes. Lupus Dear GNLD, I came to you February of Last year, after being referred to you by a friend. I had a diagnosis of Lupus and the physicians told me I needed to go on medication. I told them I did not want to because of the side effects. The Lupus was so bad I could not even go up or down stairs without serious pain. I could not sit down or kneel when I began the dietary changes and supplements you recommended. My wrists, elbows, knees and ankles were swollen. You were kind enough to spend time with me describing the nature of the problem. You encouraged me to make different dietary choices. I have avoided nightshade plants, dairy and sugar. I am also avoiding gluten. I had the mercury amalgams removed from my mouth. In addition, I began using Formula IV Plus, Vitamin E and Salmon Oil. These changes made a significant difference in how I felt. Within three months I was a completely different person. My ANA test results started to drop. By December of 1999 the test results were back to normal. At this point the doctors are telling me that my Lupus is in complete remission. I am continuing the same diet and supplement program. --Abby Comment Abby did a lot of work to improve her immune system, but she had a serious problem. Mercury bonds with sulfur bearing proteins in thetissue. We felt this could have been contributing to the problem in view of the large amount of mercury in the mouth. Sugar can also combine with tissues promoting auto-immune problems. Nightshade plants can create autoimmune-like problems for some people. Milk and wheat are common allergens. Salmon Oil decreases the likelihood of autoimmune activity. Vitamin E is necessary to prevent the oxidation of the Salmon Oil at the tissue level (possibly aggravating the problem). The Formula IV Plus was added to provide a “safety net” and also for the hormone nourishing grain oils. Anyone who has experienced a serious case of the flu has an idea of what if can feel like to suffer from fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue or chronic viral infections. Fibromyalgia is an autoimmune phenomena associated with widespread pain and aching of muscles. (“Fibro”—relationship to fibers and “myalgia”—pain in muscles.) Those who suffer with this problem experience aching, disturbed sleep patterns, fatigue, local tenderness, and morning stiffness. Symptoms are almost identical to chronic fatigue syndrome except that fibromyalgia is characterized by pain and chronic fatigue by fatigue. This is a relatively recent phenomena as evidenced by the fact that the term fibromyalgia was not adopted as a disease entity until 1990. Diagnosis Diagnosis of fibromyalgia is made with the observation of pain in 11 of 18 predefined tender point sites. The pain must be present for at least 3 months. This disorder is similar to rheumatoid arthritis, although it is not associated with the development of any deformity or inflammation of the joints. Fibromyalgia is often associated with abnormal sensations on the skin, headache, digestive and excretory abnormalities, depression, Raynaud’s phenomenon, grinding of the teeth, allergies, runny sinuses, bursitis, and sciatica. Most cases of fibromyalgia are found in middle aged women— 80-95% of the sufferers. One survey in Norway found that over 10% of the women evaluated suffered from fibromyalgia. Causes The medical community initially suggested that this problem was psychiatric. Subsequent studies have shown that the anxiety and depression associated with the problem are more a consequence of the problem rather than a cause. Abnormalities of central nervous system function have been observed with fibromyalgia. Function of the endocrine system is altered including hypothalmus, pituitary, and adrenal. Sleep disorders involve an interruption in stage-4 sleep. Low physical fitness levels may contribute to the problem. Both muscle strength and aerobic capacity are very low. Most nutritional investigators believe that the problem is associated with autoimmune activity. The precise reason for the autoimmune activity is debated. Nutritional Changes That Work A Vegetarian Diet A study of vegetarian diet provided improvement in 70% of subjects after only three weeks. This could be associated with reduction in the intake of inflammatory fats and increased intake of antioxidants from fruits and vegetables. Flavonoids are well known for their anti-inflammatory effects. Carotenoids have been demonstrated to protect the mitochondria from free radical damage. Cruciferous vegetables promote effective detoxification. Digestive Issues A study designed to reduce food allergy exposure, improve digestion and promote the detoxification ability of the liver resulted in improvement in 81% of patients in one study. Americans do not treat their digestive tracts kindly. Antibiotics can damage or alter the digestive lining. Overeating can pose an immune challenge since approximately ? of immune function is associated with protection of the integrity of the digestive tract. Nutrients important for healthy digestive function include acidophilus, fiber, and vitamin A. In some situations hydrochloric acid (Betagest) and enzymes are helpful as well. Allergic Responses to Foods Identification of foods or chemicals which can elicit immune responses and/or trigger autoimmune activity can be an important aspect of dealing with fibromyalgia. Foods which frequently create problems include milk products, egg, sugars, wheat, corn, chocolate, and nightshade plants. Any food can potentially create problems, especially if it is consumed frequently. Allergy testing can be confusing. The most frequently performed tests are scratch tests for immediate hypersensitivity. These tests do not effectively identify the majority of delayed food responses. Specialized testing such as the ELISA/ACT or ALCAT are necessary for this type of identification. Unfortunately, the tests are expensive and sensitivities can come and go depending upon levels of exposure. Physicians also have little incentive to run blood tests as they do not produce the income flow that in office tests do. Chemicals can also function as immune triggers. Many food additives can combine with tissues and initiate autoimmune attack against those tissues. This commonly happens with diabetics when sugar combines with kidney or other tissue and creates problems (glycation). Many food additives have similar potential. Reactions of this type have been referred to as hapten reactions. Avoidance is the best way to avoid these problems. Improved Liver Detoxification The liver detoxifies harmful substances in two steps. In Phase 1 detox, harmful substances are made more soluble and also more toxic in many instances. In Phase 2 detox, the harmful substances are carried out of the body. Any impairment in detoxification ability can have wide ranging implications. We are surrounded by a multitude of chemicals today including food additives, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, and heavy metals. Improper handing of these substances by the body can initiate autoimmune activity through complex mechanisms. Protective nutrients include sulfur containing proteins (Super Ease or Nourishake, Cruciferous Plus, and Allium Plus), B complex vitamins, phospholipids (lecithin and tre-en-en oils), and antioxidants (vitamins C, E, Flavonoid and Carotenoid). Hormone Balance Large numbers of individuals with autoimmune disorders are women. Excessive estrogen levels may contribute. Estrogen tends to switch on immune activity. Since fat cells release estrogen, excessive body fat can contribute to excess estrogen. Many pollutants in the environment are also of an estrogenic character. These include pesticides, herbicides, and some plastics. Physicians can compound the problem with administration of potent estrogens. Nutrients which promote more normal estrogen levels include some grain oils (Tre-en-en and Formula IV), B Complex vitamins, fiber, and acidophilus. A Program to Prevent Fibromyalgia 1. Get adequate sleep. Most Americans are chronically sleep deprived due to artificial lighting, television, computers and other sources of stimulation. Strong electromagnetic fields can also alter sleep and hormone chemistry (eg. Electric blankets). Lack of sleep changes hormone chemistry. Obtaining adequate sleep would tend to prevent some of the hormonal abnormalities associated with fibromyalgia. 2. Get regular exercise. Some believe that fibromyalgia is a disorder associated primarily with deconditioning of muscle due to lack of exercise. 3. Supplement. Support immune competence with generous intake of vegetables and nutrients including a quality multiple, omega-3 fish oils, and antioxidants like vitamin C, E, and Carotenoids. 4. Eliminate common immune triggers from the diet. This would include sugars, chocolate, milk products, and grains (especially wheat and corn). 5. If these measures do not succeed, consider a comprehensive allergy test.
My head is getting heavy now and i get headaches regularly, what shall i do :-(? -
u know i have someone just like u .. he never listens to me when i tell him to take the tablets ! you have to take them .. the cause of ur headaches is ur BP. You have to take the tablets in order to maintain the normal BP gt;gt;gt; :-D lt;lt;lt; ?
If you are a known hypertensive patient, why would you just stop taking your medication? The headaches are from the elevated blood pressure which if left uncontrolled you can stroke or have a heart attack. High blood pressure medication should never be stopped abruptly and should only be stopped under the direction of your physician. If the hypertension is left uncontrolled, yes, it will affect your whole body and you will continue to feel worse and worse. Please either start back on your medication or see your doctor.
its better if u consult a good doctor...the reason is that u should take even simple headaches seriously as day by day, we r listening to new diseases with new symptoms.....that means that we can not take even one problem lightly....migrains can be ur problem....High BP also affects heart and brain in a worst way
Why have you stopped taking your meds that s why you re getting headaches high BP is dangerous I m sure you know this you can have a stroke or heart attack please go back on your meds
i suggest u go see a doctor
Does anyone know how effective colour therapy is in healing? -
Color therapy can be helpful there are more powerful and beneficial ways to get the results you would be looking for. Color therapy is a method of vibration therapy/ or energy produced by each color. More powerful methods of energy or vibration would be things such as Reiki: this method works with the mind body and Spirit, bringing all into balance. The vibration of healing is much stronger than simple color therapy. Also acupuncture is also a good way to balance out energy in your body, this method simply realigns your bodies natural pathways rather that providing you with more vibration, although after it would feel like more because you would be balanced.

For the last two weeks having pain in centre of my chest which spread to my back and my left arm and leg numb? -
I am not a doctor but it sounds like Angina. This is the forerunner to having further heart problems and is your warning. See a doctor right now and get a proper diagnosis.
You could be having panic-attacks these are caused by stress, i get them. I get that i cannot breath pains in and around chest get realy hot, when they are over my chest is left felling very tight. I take a tablet when it starts and it make it less painfull, go to your doctors and have it checked out.
Tell your doctor you re having pain and numbness in your limbs, and I ll bet s/he sees you immediately. I think that, depending on your age and condition, you should have a stress test to check your heart, and probably an EKG too.
ya buddy contact your doctor if you are hypertensive and your feeling heart pains, stress is just going to make these worse. end result may be cardiac arrest and that s something no one wants to deal with.
You are having a heart attack - get help. Roy
Does menopause affect blood pressure? -
Yes, menopause affects BP . My wife has high BP on having menopause and it s there for last two years.
Considering how your body is under a lot of stress due to the changes in your hormones, I suspect that menopause has a lot to do with it. Congratulations on finding an answer!
yes and i too am going through the same thing i get more samples from my doctor then i wish to shake a stick at. but i too reverted back to the natural herbal therapy that is available at the health food store. High blood pressures med leave me very tired. the herbal ones don t bp med cut through the corpuscles herbal med are absorbed. bp meds you cant drink grapefruit juice ( which is on of the foods that lower your bp.) with the herbal you can drink grapefruit juice. and because they are absorbed they take a little longer to work. but the also last longer at working. and at my health food store they have a herbal encyclopedia to help you trouble shot what you may have questions about.

Can atenolol be used as a pain killer? -
Atenolol is a beta blocker. Usually used for HTN, but also used for angina (chest pain) and for prophylative treatment for migraine headaches. Can t think of any other uses.
it s sometimes used to help control angina (chest pain), but it s just a beta blocker, it won t give any anesthetic effect. If you are having headaches or pains related to high blood pressure, it might help.
What is the normal blood pressure for a 12 year old who is 5`3? -
The normal blood pressures for children ages 9 and 12 are very similar to adults. They should be somewhere between 90/60 and 120/80. Weight and height has nothing to do with it.
Are you answering your own question?? BP is one of those between this and that Q s. 100/70 to 140/80 well under 200/100 all depends.
Which is NOT a common problem of the circulatory system? -
You shouldn t cheat. Neurosis, also known as psychoneurosis or neurotic disorder, is a quot;catch allquot; term that refers to any mental imbalance that causes distress, but, unlike a psychosis or some personality disorders, does not prevent or affect rational thought. It is particularly associated with the field of psychoanalysis.
The correct answer is: D) Neurosis Neurosis is a mental disorder. Hypertension, stroke and arteriosclerosis are all circulatory problems.

After losing weight what can i do with the extra skin or fat hanging around my stomach which looks like flap? -
Work out...concentrating on your abs. Do sit ups...make a habit of holding in your tummy all the time...it really works the muscle in your abs...just to hold it in.
You need to lose the weight and keep it off for the while to see what will happen with the skin. It depends on your skin s elasticity. Your age has an impact as well as what you eat. The oils in salmon and almonds help the skin be more elastic. If you ve lost a lot of weight- there may be excess skin and unfortunately, the only way to get rid of that is with plastic surgery.
Tummy tuck surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Tour2india4health Consultants .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America. Tour2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star. this helps.
Apple cider vinegar for blood pressure? -
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is a solution of acidic acid produced by the fermentation of apple juice into alcohol using sugar and yeast. In a second fermentation process, the alcohol is converted into vinegar by the addition of acetic acid-forming bacteria. Acetic acid is the primary component of vinegar, giving it is sour taste. Marketers claim that apple cider vinegar is a storehouse of nutrients, pointing to pectin, beta-carotene, potassium, trace minerals, bacteria, and enzymes as the primary ingredients that give apple cider vinegar its curative qualities. Information provided is for general purposes only. Only your physician can provide specific diagnoses and therapies. Your doctor should be able to help you how to reduce blood pressure. Take care as always!
Systolic Reading Of 113 Is that too low? -
It is not too low.you should be happy that diastolic which is more important is 80.If your father is feeling very weak due to systolic being on slightly lower side, increase protein contant in his diet.I feel he is well controlled with this medication.
A BP of 120/80 is regarded as normal and acceptable but lower down to 90/60 is much better. Below 90/60 could be low BP. Above 140/90 is too high and needs treatment.
I have had severe palpitation when I was 16. My doctor prescribed duranol that slows down my heartbeat.? -
palpitations could be a sign of hypertension, or it could be a sign that there is a problem in the rhythm of the heart, or it could also be caused by anxiety metoprolol is a beta blocker and causes your heart to slowdown and may be used for rhythmic disturbances of the heart, or for anxiety and also for hypertension if your blood pressure is normal (about 120/80 mmHg), the palpitations you are experiencing are unlikely to be caused by hypertension
IIs there any medication available in homoeopathy to treat male ED and PE? -
You need a counselor more than you need a doctor.
homeopathy is a rip off
Have you ever read up on what homeopathy s underlying assumptions are? Do you know that homeopathic medications do not usually work? IMHO
Viagra is safe even if you are hypertensive as long as you are not taking nitroglycerine medication for your heatr.
Sometimes I wake up from a sound sleep with terrible leg upper muscle pains. What can this be.? -
Do you take Vitamins? Do you drink enough water during the day? Do you drink Orange Juice everyday and do you eat bananas. Reason I ask, is my Dad has similiar problem and he wasn t getting enough water and potassium in his system. Now mind you, his condition was leg cramps. So I may be totally off the mark, but these are things to ask yourself and it s not costly to try and see if this improves your condition.
If you are on medication for hypertension, it probably has a diuretic or water pill built into it. Your doctor may have you on a diuretic as well. What happens when you are losing water is that you are also losing potassium which if it drops too low in your system will cause leg cramps. So will dehydration. If you aren t on a potassium supplement ask your doctor about it. In the meantime, when you come home from your square dancing try taking one Aleve and if it doesn t interfere with your medications, an aspirin or two. The fastest way I have found to relieve leg pain is with a hair blow dryer as the heat is immediate. Keep one by your bed but make sure you don t go to sleep with it in bed by you. Other than that, talk to your doctor. Leg pain is terrible!
muscle spasms....u may need to elevate the leg on sofa arm. Try sleepin in a sleepin bag at night to circulate bodys heat so u will not wake up in pain.Take a Motrin for pain with glass of milk.
It could be a potassium shortage. try eating a banana before bed and drink orange in the morning.
I m on BP meds and I had terrible legs cramps. My Doc told me to take 1200 mg s a day of potassium and I haven t had a cramp since. If you don t mind taking bigger pills you can get it all in one dose. Check to make sure this is right for you though.
What can an Echo find? -
It s just so that the doctor can see more than what an ekg shows. With you having high bp he/she is just probably getting what is called aquot;baselinequot; echo so there will be one on record. An echo is more like a picture of the heart so the doctor can see any abnormal results of the different chambers of the heart along with all the arterial and venous vessels that go to and from to the rest of the body.Good luck and don t worry.I m sure if the doctor thought there was anything wrong he/she would let you know.

Causes for coronary artery disease/coronary atherosclerosis in young adults? -
How about stress ? I have a severe stress reaction in action movies, and my heart rate zooms up. Two years ago I actually suffered a valve strain watching a battle scene in the movie Troy. Another common symptom that suggests drug use is arterial ectasia. That s the term for severely dilated arteries. I have that, so when in the ER for a minor heart attack, they saw that on my record and asked over and over if I used cocaine. Ectasia is 10 times more common in coke users. With ectasia, blood flow slows, and its easier for bad cholesterol to collect and form blockages. The stretching leaves damage that the body tries to repair, but results in the initial blockages. If you exercise very hard without warming up, that also puts a strain on the arteries, and might aggravate ectasia. I also did that, for decades. Do everything the doctor recommends. E-mail me if you have questions on exercise for cardiac rehab. I ve have been through it four times.
I just a have a question. can blood pressure medicine cause you to lose stamin in your sex drive? -
Yes these medications will affect your ability to get and maintain erections.talk to your doctor about it.He may be able to prescribe Viagra for you.
yes that s the first thing blood pressure medicine kills, if you can change your diet drastically (under your doctors supervision) by cutting out sugars and refined carbs, eating fresh greens, protein good carbs you should be able to lower or get off blood pressure medicine.otherwise you re only choice is to take more medicine for your impotence..............good luck!
Unfortunately that is one of the side effects of blood pressure medications. Antidepressants will do that too.
Dear fox murder: Yes it depends on the medicine. Most common culprits are beta blockers (propanolol, pindolol, timolol), Hydralazine derivatives, sometimes nifedipine and amliodipne. However, diuretics such as furosemide, or Clorotalidone,(Hygroton) as well as the so called ACE inhibitors such as captopril, ramipril enalapril etc do not cause such effect. Have you asked this question to the prescribing doctor? I would if I were You Sincerely Garfield526
Most definately yes, some meds used to treat hypertension can interfere with erections. Talk to your doc, they can t help if they don t know you need it. There are many different, effective meds they can use, but they need to decide, based on your health situation and needs. Trivia; Viagra was actually first developed as a blood pressure med. At the end of trials some of the male test participants didn t want to turn their remaining supply back in..
What is mild left ventricle hypertrophy concentric ?? is it dangerous? -
Hypertrophy in medical terms means enlargement of the size and concentric means all round. In terms of heart, concentric LV hypertrophy means that the muscle of the left sided pumping chamber of the heart has increased in size and thickness. This usually occurs because of either high blood pressure or any obstruction to the outflow of blood from the left heart. Commonest example of latter is narrowing of the valve (aortic valve). I suppose only your doctor can tell you as to the real reason of this LV hypertrophy. Remedial measures can only be taken once you know the cause of LV hypertrophy.
Yes, you should be concerned. The echo just reflects the bad effects that the blood pressure has had on your heart. However, the cause of all your problems appears to be the high blood pressure. Its paroxysmal nature bothers me. You should see a high blood pressure specialist (usually a cardiologist, in some places the kidney doctor) to be evaluated for several forms of quot;secondary hypertension.quot; This refers to various causes of paroxysmal hypertension or severely elevated blood pressure, such as endocrine disorders, certain tumors and certain kidney diseases; these are all treatable and curable, unlike plain old hypertension which usually requires lifelong medications. I feel it is very important that you see such a specialist. : I hope this has been useful.
Welcome to the club. You have a part of your heart expanding and filling in the inside of your heart. In most people this develops fully by mid-twenties, and goes no further. Yes it is dangerous. It slows down how much you can handle in a day, and there is a mild risk of sudden death, such as happened to my sister at age 35 by the way. If it is caused by an infection it could kill in a few months. Otherwise you get the spend the rest of your days with a minor handicap on the rate of exercise you can handle. You would improve your chances of stability if you got down to a slender weight without any medical problems. If you stay with hypertension and stress, there is a real chance it could continue getting worse for the rest of your life.
It is a heart deceases ,that makes the person who have it have blood pressure ,which is controlled with pills
My friends cholesterol is 7.09 .Should he be on statins/asprin? -
Do you know his full lipid profile? Being aged over 60 with a total cholesterol of 7 is within treatment range for Statins. TC should always be lt;5mmol/l. He should of course make life style changes- reduce the amount of saturated fat he consumes, lose weight and exercise- which will raise his HDL (good cholesterol).
Thats a pretty high level...I would think he should be on some sort of satin for that...mine is controlled at 3.1 with Crestor...it had gone up to 5.1 but as I have had a bypass they want my level very low so I take a statin. Aspirin will have no effect on his cholesterol although it is a common drug prescribed for heart patients.
Cholesterol- Normal limits- 3.5 to 6.5 mmol/L (Ideal- less than 5.2 mmol/L) (Note:- Multiply mmol/L into 39 to get mg/dL)
Well, I ve a level of about 6 and I m on 10mg of Simvastatin.
I need information on IIH and PCOS and how the two effect one person? -
Hope this helps you: Introduction Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a condition most often characterized by irregular menstrual periods, excess hair growth and obesity, but it can affect women in a variety of ways. Irregular or heavy periods may signal the condition in adolescence, or polycystic ovary syndrome may become apparent later when a woman has difficulty becoming pregnant. The signs and symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome stem from a disruption in the reproductive cycle, which normally culminates each month with the release of an egg from an ovary (ovulation). The name polycystic ovary syndrome comes from the appearance of the ovaries in some women with the disorder — large and studded with numerous cysts (polycystic). These cysts are follicles, fluid-filled sacs that contain immature eggs. Polycystic ovary syndrome is the most common hormonal disorder among women of reproductive age in the United States, affecting an estimated 5 percent to 10 percent. Early diagnosis and treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome can help reduce the risk of long-term complications, which include diabetes and heart disease. href="rel="nofollow">href="rel="nofollow">href="rel="nofollow">href="rel="nofollow">href="rel="nofollow">href="rel="nofollow">href="rel="nofollow">videos on PCOS: http://video.google.com/videosearch?sour...
I was just also diagnosed with IIH. I was diagnosed with endometrosis 4 yrs ago. 4 mnths ago I had an ovary removed due to a second large cyst. With IIH, it has been stated that hormonal changes can bring on this condition. Report Abuse
I believe that for me when my ovary was removed my hormones were out of whack for awhile. I am not sure if having PCOS means your hormones are out of whack as well. has your IIH gotten any better? have you lost any visoin in your eyes? Report Abuse
i just got my tap results and this diagnosis was confirmed. i start diamox today Report Abuse

Very dizzy and light headed, what could this be? -
You are right. probably not eating enough and or not eating the right foods. Also, you re not breathing properly, don t have enough iron in your blood. Eat some spinach, carbs, and work on your cardio and pulmonary systems by exercising.
Sounds pretty obvious that the large amount of caffeine is not good for you. It probably has your heart rate up (and therefore your B/P down), then any added activity like stair climbing just elevates it further. Not eating is adding to your problem in many possible ways -- low glucose, dehydration, anemia, and probably many other things. Did you really need to take a poll to know what s wrong?? Ditch the pills unless you just like being dizzy...
hi guy:- your condition have 3 explanation:- 1-you are anemic(low blood volume, low pcv,low hemoglobin level,....) 2-not eat enoght(because it cause low suger level so low enegy to your brain and dizznes and slight headche) 3-hypotension(hypovolumic by not drinking enough water,)in here if you drink water and salt you will be fine it is hypotension) i hope it will be your answer Taha Q.hussin sulaymania university collage of medicine kurdistan-asia
When you take a lot of caffeine in all it does is raise your heart rate, then make you crash. Stop using caffeine and start eating foods high in protein to give you energy. If you feel lightheaded, eat a small snack, that means you don t have enough blood glucose.
Anybody who can tell me how i can lose weight? -
Healthy weight loss tips * Take one pound at a time Don’t get overwhelmed by how much weight you need to lose. Try to remember that quot;losing 15 pounds in two weeksquot; is nothing to celebrate. It is important to realize that the more quickly weight is lost, the more likely the loss is coming from water and muscle, not fat. Since muscle tissue is critical in keeping our metabolism elevated, losing it actually leads to a decrease in the amount of calories we can each day without gaining weight. Fat loss is best achieved when weight is lost slowly. Strive for a weight loss of no more than 3-4 pounds per week. One pound of weight is equivalent to 3500 calories. * Set Reachable Goals For instance, if you know you need to get more exercise, begin with a manageable goal of, say, walking 10 minutes a day that you know you can achieve. Then build your self-esteem by achieving the small goals you set yourself. The same logic applies for losing weight. * Stay off the scales Don’t get discouraged when your progress seems to be slow according to your bathroom scales. They do not provide a true measure of what is going on with the body. If exercise levels are adequate (5-7 days a week), you may be putting on muscle but losing fat, thus losing inches even if you are not losing pounds. It s always a good idea to do several body measurements to have a second objective way to monitor progress. * Stay focused on being healthy, not thin # Many people become more successful at long term weight loss when their motive changes from wanting to be thinner to wanting to be healthier. Change your mindset to think about selecting foods that will help your body s health rather than worrying about foods that will affect your body s weight. The Food Pyramid offers a basic outline of the types and amounts of food you should eat each day to give your body the nutrients it needs for optimal health. * Fat Free? We ve known for some time that limiting high fat foods in the diet can be helpful with weight loss. That s because fats pack in 9 calories per gram compared to only 4 calories per gram from proteins or carbohydrates. To many, the message to limit fats implied an endorsement to eat unlimited amounts of fat-free products. Just to clarify, fat-free foods have calories too. In some cases fat-free foods have as many calories as their fat laden counterparts. If you eat more calories than your body uses, you will gain weight. Eating less fat will help you to lose weight. Eating less fat and replacing it with excessive amounts of fat-free products will not. * Drink plenty of water Drink eight glasses a day. Water is a natural appetite-suppressant. Nettle tea is a great weight-loss tea as it supports metabolism and has diuretic properties. * Reward yourself # Each time you reach a goal, such as losing 5 pounds, reward yourself with a gift or a massage. * Seek help if you need it # A big key in long term weight control comes from receiving encouragement and support from others. Find a friend to lose weight with or you can check to see if groups such as Weight Watchers, or eDiets offer programs and resources in your area by clicking the links. You may also wish to check with your local hospital to see if their registered dietician conducts group weight loss programs. * Watch your portions With the advent of quot;supersizequot; meals and increasingly huge portions at restaurants, our concept of normal serving sizes is a distant memory. Be mindful of the amounts of food you consume at a sitting. When necessary, divide your food in half and ask for a take home bag. It is all too easy to be a quot;plate cleanerquot; even when served enormous portions. Learn to pay attention to your hunger level and stop eating when you feel comfortably full, not stuffed. * Eat your food slowly Did you ever notice that thin people take an awfully long time to eat their food? Eating slowly is one method that can help take off pounds. That s because from the time you begin eating it takes the brain 20 minutes to start signaling feelings of fullness. Fast eaters often eat beyond their true level of fullness before the 20 minute signal has had a chance to set in. The amount of calories consumed before you begin to feel full can vary significantly depending on how quickly you eat. So slow down, take smaller bites and enjoy your food.
First, you are going to want to do this with your doctor s supervision if you have health problems that are so serious. He or she will be able to offer you the best specific advice for your case. Next, add more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein to your diet and cut out the junk. Any empty calories (chips, candy, fast food, soda, etc) should probably go. With the hypertension, you might want to keep an eye on your sodium intake as well. Your doctor can advise you on the best workout program. Cardio and weight training are critical to strengthen your cardiovascular system and muscles. By weight training, you will increase your metabolism and burn more calories even when sleeping! Please stay away from any diet pills in the future. As you ve learned, many are dangerous and most do very little. Good luck!
Exercise!
drink lots and lots of water and walk everyday. start-off with 1/2 mile then move up and up and up... Good Luck!
move... dont sit still.. and no binging at night ^^.. big lunches little or no dinners
silly terran she can t jog... I d say completely cut out your sugar intake (Yep that means no sweeets, coffee, tea, or pop) Your first mistake was taking diet pills.. all they are are a scam. Check your local listings but every morning on TV theres those aerobic workouts. The benefit to doing that is that your in the comfort of your own home, you can look as silly as you want, and they have a easy modifications for those starter people. Oh and of course, Get at least 2 hours of sunshine a day, even if this is winterproofing your garden, walking around the block a few times, or better yet soaking up the rays and getting a beautiful tan. I hope your surgery goes well and I hope you loose your weight, wieght loss should be as hard as some people make it. Stay motivated and you ll succeed
I am a weight-loss coach. Go to this website. Look through it thoroughly. Fill out the contact page and I will contact you. Good Luck to you.
I had to go on a special diet to fight intestinal yeast overgrowth. On this diet I cant have sugar, bread, flour, soda pop, all cheeses, no sweetened cereals and nothing with yeast. I love all foods pretty much so its been tough, but when I eat these things I get sick. But since Ive been doing this diet, I have lost weight fast. I guess that happens when you cant have anything fattening, or GOOD. Anyway, I eat alot of steamed veges, all meats and salads. Lots of water....with electrolytes.
Listen: you need to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. The 45 minute thing is not true, but don t over 60 minutes at a time. Do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home. The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better! Don t look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results. Good luck and stick at it.
stop eating so much
Don t jog if you need a lung transplant! walk for an hour a day. Walk your dog or someone else s dog. Push a young family member in a stroller. Make sure that each meal includes a little fat, a few carbs and lots of protein. That should do it.
dont eat
don t take pills instead go jog
Do NOT ask such an important question in this room or take anyones advice. Ask a doctor or go to www.webmd.com
stop eating fatty foods and go to the gym
