Usually no. HIV will not cause a person to be hypertensive or have heart mermors. HIV alters your DNA and by doing so wont alter your blood pressure.

What are the early symptoms of HIV infection? Many people do not develop any symptoms when they first become infected with HIV. Some people, however, get a flu-like illness within three to six weeks after exposure to the virus. HIV/AIDS will cause a reduction in your body s ability to fight off infection thus leaving the person open to any kind of disease really. The cause of hypertension would be from a secondary disease. For example in the case of diarrhoea it will lead to imbalance of fluid and electrolytes in the body which can lead to kidney failure which will in turn lead to hypertension. In another case, an overload of infection in the body will lead to a fever and an increase in the heart rate with or without hypertension. In short it can be caused by anything.
