Does Pranayam help in HYPERTENSION ? -

I am sufferring from High BP , so I need to check it regularly . I ve Brawn s digital BP monitor . Is it reliable ? If yes , then upto what extent ?

DEFINITELY AND SURELY. TRY AND FEEL THE EFFECT

For those that do not know - pranayam is breathing exercises as I have described below.Doing pranayam and checking your BP everyday, you will know it works, because the results will speak for you. Anulom Vilom – Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril then -keeping the left nostril closed deep breath-in through right nostril then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril. This is one cycle of anulom vilom. Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day). You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed. Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Hi there, quot;Pranaayamquot; does help in hypertension, but quot;marginallyquot; only. Dont start quot;pranaayamquot; with te hope that you can stop the antihypertensive medications totally. quot;Pranaayamquot; will bring down the hypertension by around 5% usually. But it does helps..... best wishes...

Surely it does.......

Are you a Malayali. It will not affect and to whom do you have quot;Pranayamquot; with????

if correctly done it helps everything.

Feeling lonely may hurt your heart in more ways than one. A University of Chicago study of 229 men and women between the ages of 50 and 68 showed that those who said they lacked companionship were more likely to have elevated blood pressure, a risk factor for heart disease. People who felt the loneliest had systolic blood pressures (the top number) 10 to 30 mm Hg higher than those who felt the least lonely. Though the extent of the rise in blood pressure increased with age, the link between loneliness and blood pressure remained after accounting for age, weight, smoking, depression, and other risk factors for hypertension. The authors of the study point out that the magnitude of the effects of loneliness on blood pressure was as great as the reduction in blood pressure expected to result from weight loss or increased exercise. There s more news linking loneliness and the risk of cardiovascular disease. A Harvard study has shown an association between loneliness among men and an increase in a type of inflammation linked to cardiovascular disease. In addition, a Duke study has found that socially isolated patients with heart disease have a higher risk of death. These findings are especially significant now, as the U.S. population is aging and more people are living alone. Some research suggests that a feeling of isolation and a lack of companionship may affect more than 11 million elderly Americans as friends and family move, become ill, or die. I agree with the authors of the Chicago study, who suggest paying more attention to family and friends and getting involved in volunteer work and other activities that make you feel useful.

If the BP is due to stress or mental, yes, pranayama is the best cure. But, if there is any obstruction in your arteries, then you will require medication. There are very effective herbal capsules such as Rudved/CArdoved/Suved etc. Check in google.
