High dietary intake of potassium is enough. Oral potassium supplement is in the form of potassium chloride and is used in special cases like cirrhotics, elderly patients. Supplement is not recommended because it does not contain enough of it and is retained in the body better after the action of diuresis in the body. And if you are getting it from food,it is better than medication.
I dont have that much information for you but I have just recently been diagnosed with Hypokalemia and have been placed on Potassium Chloride capsules and im told to take them for 3 days at 2 times a day. U have to get a prescription for this but maybe u can ask your doctor about them and he/she can prescribe them to you. Good Luck..
