I am 78, I have first stage hypertension now, 150/90? -

My doctor prescribed me the hypertensive drug Adalat git 30, been taken that for years, I guess it is becoming worse, so he added another drug olmetic, however it does not seen to improve. Heard of this food supplement call CoQ10, is this good in kelping to reduce the blood pressure and the heard.

High blood pressure isn t a problem that you can treat and then ignore. It s a condition you need to manage for the rest of your life. Although diet and exercise are the best tactics to lower your blood pressure, some supplements also may help decrease it. These include: Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) ,Blond psyllium ,Calcium ,Cocoa ,Cod-liver oil ,Coenzyme Q-10 ,Omega-3 fatty acids ,Garlic. While it s best to incorporate these supplements in your diet as foods, you can also take supplement pills or capsules. Talk to your doctor before adding any of these supplements to your blood pressure treatment. Some supplements can interact with medications, causing harmful side effects. Sticking to lifestyle changes can be difficult — especially if you don t see or feel any symptoms of high blood pressure. If you need motivation, remember the risks associated with uncontrolled high blood pressure. It may help to enlist the support of your family and friends as well. Take care as always!

You need to be on a good blood pressure medication like Prinivil. I m 70 and have been on it for years. You need to exercise every day.....walk, walk, and walk or swim, swim, swim......and learn to relax. If overweight, lose weigh. You need to take these life changes NOW. Take your meds at the same time every day.....no skipping unless you want to have a stroke. Stay away from such stuff as CoQ10 whatever that is...get to a doctor and do what he says. You cannot treat yourself.

your body has become inmune to the Adalat. Have him change the main blood pressure med. I was on one for years, and it quit working with me, so they put me on Atenlol (sp) I take 25 mg a day twice, and do fine. Could not get my bp down on the old meds. If you can afford 20+ dollars for the month supply OTC, that is fine. But mainly, NO SALT. No pre packaged foods as they are high in salt, cook at home, no fast food, Cq10 is for memory mainly, not blood pressure.

Hmm well I don t think you trust your doctor too much to be asking this. Lol evil bloody bastards. But your Immune to Adalat. Ask him to take you off. It won t do anything if it doesn t work anymore.
