Random, There are alot of factors in determining if your B/P is high. what is your normal resting blood pressure? If it is something like 110/60 then yes your pressure is up a bit. A quot;textquot; book blood pressure is 120-130 over 70-80. I think your pressure is fine. I have never seen an MD start a B?P medicine on anyone with a 140/70 B/P. Find out your family history, if there is a history of high blood pressure then you may have something to worry about in the future. Also what is your age/ To little information to give you a really accurate answer.
that is not to bad for her age. it is border line for high blood pressure
That is actually a really good blood pressure for your 86 year old grandmother. A lot of times, with age, a person s baseline blood pressure increases. The bottom number is what doctors get most concerned with and her s is absolutely in the normal, healthy range. The top number is a little high, but completely normal for her age.
NO for your grand mother of age 86 this is not a hypertension if she has no edema on legs and if she has no other symptoms of high blood pressure like giddiness nausea vomiting bleeding heart disease !Of course you should evaluate her kidney function and lipid profile as well ! More over you should looks for any retinal artery damage by Fundoscopy done by eye specialist 1Otherwise this is a normal blood pressure for her age!as today also what is normal is still not 100%decided how can any one say it is abnormal?Blood pressure is a individual thing apart from what is taken world over 130/80 as normal adult BP.Always YouRsmE!
That would be classified as quot;borderline hypertensionquot;. The systolic is a bit high, but the diastolic is the one doctors worry about most. I would say a doctor would probably monitor that blood pressure, but not prescribe medication unless it gets to 145.
There have been times when I ve gone in and my bP would be like 136/82 sometimes lower. My doctor says that it takes 3 consecutive high readings to constitute hypertension. If you re concerned you can ask your doctor to monitor it 3 days in a row. It will also go up if you re in pain or stressed about something. So just being worried about it can raise it.
Here is a link with some sound information on bp s. It should be able to answer any questions you have in a general sense. However, if you want it more specific to you, you will have to speak to your doctor as there are many individual factors to high or low bp s. http://www.merck.com/mmhe/sec03/ch022/ch...
