How do I start a fitness program? -

I am 32 years old with hypertension. I have never been active but i am getting older and I have a son so I want to get in shape an loose about 50 pounds. I always start out too fast and then give up. Anyone have a suggestions so I will start slow so I do not injure myself and give up for a monthagain, but still feel like i am doing something? I have lost 50# with weight watchers in the past but I smoked to keep my metabolism up. Any good diets and metabolism boosters with out indgredients that will raise blood pressure more?

Go to a reputable gym or fitness centre and talk to one of the fitness counselors. They have had special training in how to help people stay on a program. Starting out gung ho is a common problem and one that frequently results in people hurting themselves and giving up. You ve already experienced that. So get help from someone who knows exactly what steps you should be taking. Good gyms or fitness salons aren t really that expensive when you figure out what you are getting for the money. Certified trainers, all the equipment you need, encouragement, a sensible program and a guaranteed result if you stick with it. Good for you for losing fifty pounds. That s a pretty great start! Smoking doesn t do anything to boost your metabolism, though. Once you get into your fitness regime, you ll find that cutting down on the cigarettes will improve your wind and your endurance enormously. I know, I ve been there and done that. Good luck to you!

Thank you. I ll be looking forward to a note on Yahoo in about eight months time that you have achieved your goal and you re feeling great -- right in time to get a whole new wardrobe for springtime! You go girl! Report Abuse

Start by visiting your general practitioner.

First talk to your doctor. And start yourself on a routine. It s got to be something you will like doing. If you like being outside go for regular walks, bike ride etc. If you don t really care find a local gym, yoga studio or get some workout tapes. (Don t invest in equipment unless you are really going to stick to it and now what you want). If you can afford it I strongly suggest that you join a gym and work out with a trainer. They will work with you on your diet as well as show you proper form and keep you on your goals. Once you are comfortable in the gym and doing exercises you don t have to stick with the trainer. Most important set and write down your goals. Display them if you have to with a picture of your son next to them to remind you what you are working towards and why. If it s hard for you to stick with something, I think its best to work in physical activity first and make slow changes to your diet. First change stop drinking calories or limit the calories you drink. Example, soda, coffee with cream and sugar and fruit juices. Replace it with water and tea or limit the cream and sugar. Depending on how much you drink you can cut 500 calories from your diet just by not drinking them. Work in weight training to increase your metabolism. This will have a big impact on the amount of calories you burn even while you are sleeping and help to improve your success.

go to trainer

Open up next to McDonalds.

Have you tried South Beach diet? I lost 35 lbs and since the diet was initially created for heart patients to lose weight quickly to have surgery it keeps your cholesterol in check as well. I went to my doctor and he was AMAZED at my test results that came back from the cardiologist. As far as starting and exercise program. It is simple but it works for people like us that have a hard time getting started. WALK AS FAR AS YOU CAN and then turn around and walk back home ....You gotta get back home right? Well? You ll be surprised at how fast you ll be able to pick up the pace and the length of your walks in no time at all. Once you have developed a new energy level from the walking regiment you can then move on to other things like Booty Ballet (fun)and other programs. Good luck!

green tea and start walking
