Need Homework Help!!? -

Health questions trying to study for my final... If someones parent has hypertension, does that person have a higher risk of developing hypertension? If a tumor is found, can a physician do a biopsy to determine whether its benign or malignant? And what socital changed amp; rights have disabled persons been working toward? Please help if you can I m studying for my health final!!! Thank you!!

I m a high school/college health teacher, so first I have to chastise you for soliciting help for your finals--just kidding. OK, here goes: 1. Hypertension, in part, is hereditarily linked. That DOES NOT mean that you will not become hypertensive if your parent(s) aren t. Diet, exercise, and other lifestyle choices (smoking) will also affect your risk. It also DOES NOT mean that if your parent(s) are hypertensive that you are doomed to the same fate. Higher risk? Yes, but again, your lifestyle choices are very important. 2. That is how tumors are determined to be either benign or malignant-through a biopsy. So, yes, a physician can and will biopsy. 3. The ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) is the piece of legislation that handicapped people have worked toward. What this insures is that all public places are accessible to disabled people (schools, malls, parking, etc). It also covers some employment issues (like fair hiring practices, etc) for disabled people. Hope all this helps and good luck on your final!!

all of those are yes at least i think im not a health teacher just an all state runner and to my knowledge sadly enough i think they are yes but try ask.com and typing in the questions for guarenteed answers

Hypertension is in part hereditary.....Tumors are always biopsied to see if it is cancerous or not....sometimes it may be removed first, depending on the size or location.....

For the precise answer to your questions and in order to do good on your final I would look at different websites such as WEBMD and google in order to figure it out. They have all the answers! GOOD LUCK on your final Oh and BTW don t stress yourself out just remember to breathe!

It is likely that both genetic (inherited) and environmental factors, such as your diet, play a role. The ways that all of the contributing factors interact to elevate blood pressure are not necessarily the same for each person. In addition, most of the genetic causes of hypertension are still a matter of research.

ENDOCRINOLOGISTS? High MCH, low lymphocytes, high DHEA sulfate...? -

The doctors were testing me for Cushing s (again) but my cortisol levels were okay this time. Instead, they found high MCH, low lymphocytes, and high DHEA sulfate. symptoms include poor wound healing, diarrhea, fatigue, weight gain, and hypertension in a 21 year old vegan female. My doctors are stumped--- any ideas?

Corisol levels change during the day and during the night. in a normal circumstance a corisol level collected at 8 pm will be 50% lower than one collected at 8 am. So, check the time of collection. For the high MCH, that means the average concetration of hemoglobin in each Red blood cell (RBC). In some anemias, decrease or increase in cell size (MCV) is associated with a proportional decrease or increase in the amount of hemoglobin within the cell (MHC). Also, in certain conditions, these indices of RBCs may be falsely elevated. For the low lymphocytes, there may be an impaired ability to mount an immune response, leading in immunodeficiency. Corticosteroid therapy causes a sharp drop in circulating lymphocytes within 4 hours, other conditions like bacterial or viral can cause low lymphocyte levels. For the DHEA, I don t know much about, but check for testosterone levels or diabetes. Look in the internet @ www.labtestsonline.org This website tells you that the test are for and abnormallities. Hope this helps!!! Good Luck.

WHAT DOES THIS DO TO YOUR BODY? EFFECTS? -

what are the main effects of a STROKE, MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION (HEART ATTACK), HYPERTENSION, and ATHEROSCHLEROSIS (COVONARY ARTERY DISEASE)

Stroke: Depends on where it happens. In the brain it can cause death, paralysis, memory loss, loss of muscle tone. In the lung in can cause death. MI: Death, damage to the heart muscle, organ damage from loss of oxygen due to the heart not pumping or not pumping enough blood. Hypertension: Stroke, heart attack, heart damage, heart weakening (heart failure) CAD: Heart attack, stroke, hypertension

If I start smoking and taking caffeine pills will I lose weight? -

I just bought a pack of smokes today, and i am trying to get hooked on cigarettes. I heard if you get addicted to nicotene, it: makes your taste buds get weaker increases matablism cuts cravings weight loss What you recommend a specififc brand? I started on Marlboro Ultra Lights. Caffeine. I heard In doses of 100-200 mg. caffeine can increase alertness, relieve drowsiness and improve thinking. At doses of 250-700 mg/day, caffeine can cause anxiety, insomnia, nervousness, hypertension, and insomnia. Caffeine is a diuretic and increases urination. It can curiously enough make it more difficult to lose weight because it stimulates insulin secretion, which reduces serum glucose, which increases hunger. bought a small coke at mcd today and also heard it has a weight loss stimulant in caffeine, is this true also? I do NOT Want to get anxiety, would it work best if i took just 50-100mg to help me loose weight and absorb information better? Where can i buy these pills? should i start at 10mg and work myway to 50 and then 100?

As tempting as these things may be, you need to be smart and think a little further than, lets say, this year. Even if smoking and taking caffeine (or meth or cocaine) can cause weight loss, are you going to want to continue on these for the rest of your life? Eventually you will have to give it up (or hurt your health), and then weight will come back on and then some. The only way to lose weight and keep it off is to make lifestyle changes. Gradual, positive changes last. Yes, it may work slower, but your goal is not to just look good for a year or two is it?

You may lose some weight doing this but it is very unhealthy. Drinking soda will not help you live weight, despite the caffeine, soda is high in calories. If you really want to lose weight, eat better, diet and exercise.

Smoking and those pills won t work:just eat healthy and less Planets.

Don t get hooked on smoking. It s expensive.

That..Is just stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... Here s why: Yes..It will help you loose weight..Downfall..It fxcks everything up in your SYSTEM.. You re going to have cancer..You re going to die..Don t smoke for wrong reasons..And just a few days ago..When people who were stick thin..when they stopped smoking.. They were overweight.. Because smoking made their metabolism and cravings worse!..And caffeine..OH my god!!.. I really just find this question startling... You re willing to do ALL this..like literally damage your system JUST so you can lose weight.. This is possibly the worst way to lose weight..Worse then being bulimic... I m going to strongly advice you...NO!!!!!!!!!!! There is a much better way..It s obviously your food intake..You aren t eating the right foods...When you eat healthy and excessive regularly ..not only are you being healthy but you re losing weight the natural weight... Just do me a favor and never smoke..take pills to lose weight.. I know I m going to get thumbs down ..but whatever...this is for your own good..

Blood Pressure - how low is too low? -

I know this much information (below). But, how low is too low? I know that low is different for everyone, but... A girl at work has always got something wrong with her (hypochondriac, or something!) Anyhow, not like I ll say anything to her - but I hate listening to the problems all day long. She s got 89/40 for blood pressure - or so she says. She tells everyone how dangerous this is, and blah blah blah. Never shuts up about her life or death problems. You should hear this woman! I ve had really low blood pressure too in the past, but I can t remember what it was. My question is: How low is too low? Is she rightfully bitching this time, or has she got low blood pressure, but nothing to be that excited over? Like I said - can t say anything to her - but I might stop rolling my eyes if it were really a true problem. Just curious - thanks! Low lt;89 / lt;50 Normal lt;120 / lt;80 Prehypertension 120–139 / 80–89 Hypertension mild 140–159 / 90–99 moderate 160–179 / 100–109 severe gt;180 / gt;110 Isolated systolic hypertension gt;140 / lt;90

If her BP was 89/40 she would be diaphoretic. That s medical jargon for the symptoms she would be having as a result of shock. She would be sweating like a hooker in church, she would be super dizzy and likely unconscious. I know exactly what it s like to have your bp at this level...happened to me. I also deal with it a lot at work, I m an EMT. She s likely full O doo doo.

you are correct in your statement that quot;lowquot; is different for everyone. but it all falls within a reasonable range. does your co-worker take her own b/p? could be she doesn t know the proper way to do so. some people get the b/p kits for home use and don t know they have to be calibrated.- don t tell her but as long as her botton number doesn t go below 40 she s fine- the top number is the killer! i, myself had a b/p of 80/40 for years. drs. said i was fine. wish it was back there again!

Stats. Help? -

For women aged 18-24, systolic bp (in mmHg) are normally distributed with a mean of 114.8 and a standard deviation of 13.1. Hypertension is commonly defined as systolic blood pressure above 140. If a woman aged 18-24 is randomly selected, what is the probability her systolic blood pressure is above 140?

120 - 114.8 = 5.2 mmHg 5.2 / 13.1 = 0.4 standard deviations Using the table at standard deviations = 15.5% of the population that will have a systolic BP between 114.8 and 120. Add 15.5% to the 50% that will have a systolic BP below 114.8 to get the answer that there is a 65.5% that her systolic BP is below 120 mmHg.

Aspiration of renal cyst in the middle aspect of kidney? -

i have dull pain from time to time in my left kidney..i noticed that when i feel it..i ll be urinating.. and i m scared right now because i don t know if its muscle pain or related to my kidneys.. so i had an ultrasound and they found a 1.6x1.7cm renal cyst in the middle aspect of left kidney.. but as i searched through the net, it s so small compared to others. some have 5cm.. and mine is only 1.6cm now i don t know if i would take the risk of aspiration.. i can feel the dull pain everyday and that s what i m worried about, i have no haematuria.. but i do feel hypertension from time to time too.. i m only 21 years old.. is my pain related to the cyst? i don t know what to think.. i just want this weird dull pain to go away.. it s more than 2 months now..

Some cysts can cause pain when they are quite small, it depends where they are placed. If yours is causing you pain (I think it probably is the cyst that is causing the pain) then get it aspirated.

Your pain is more then likely related to your cyst. I had a pt with the exact same case like yours and she was 12 and her presentation was a dull ache, but her blood pressure was slightly elevated then the normal range. The aspiration procedure is fairly simple. Its done in the radiology department either with an ultrasound tech or CT (Cat Scan) tech. Either tech will produce an image on a monitor to help guide the needle to the cyst so the doctor can properly aspirate it. The needle insertion site will be numbed so the only discomfort you will feel is the slight burning sensation with the numbing medication is injected into your skin. If left untreated, you run the risk of the cyst growing and since its your kidneys that regulate your blood pressure, you will create a hypertensive environment which can lead to other health problems down the line. The only risk that I m aware of with this procedure is infection around the site of the needle. The risks outweigh the consequences and as far as the little girl I took care of....I haven t heard of her having any return visits for the same thing. Hope this helps. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions.

Whats up with my blood pressure? -

I am 18 and have high blood pressure. I believe stage 2 hypertension. I take 50mg Metoprolol and 150/12.5mg of Avalide. The Metoprolol I have been taking for a couple of months and am just on my second week of Avalide. I know that it can take two to four weeks for a medicine to take full effect. I take my blood pressure usally after moving around to see how high it gets which it really shouldn t get very high. Last night after driving around for a while and moving around a bit I checked my blood pressure and it was 141/60 on my left arm. Took it on my right arm about 10 secs later and 140/60. About 30 secs later I took it again on my left arm and it went down to 117/50. I know this is something that should really be discussed with my cardiologist, but has anyone else experianced something similar? The monitor is pretty accurate. Thanks in advance.

i am not sure there is anything wrong or unusual. the upper number should vary 20-25 points with the lower one varying only about 10 points and the values can change quickly. i wouldn t worry about it. i think the difference between the two numbers is a bit higher than usual and i would ask the dr. about that. otherwise i don t see a problem

Sometimes medication can make you worse. Please visit this website www.freewebs.com/sunflowerhealthorg maybe you will find help.

Why is an 18 year old needing such large doses of antihypertensive medications? Is your weight in a healthy range and are you getting regular excersie? Blood pressures fluctuate a great degree throuh out the day and this is normal. 140/60 is a little high but certainly not worth worrying about. In a normal person there should be very little variation between blood pressure on left vs right arm. The 117/50 is probably accurate. Blood pressures should only be taken when you are relaxed and have been sitting for atleast ten minutes to ensure maximum accuracy. BP s taken at doctor surgeries are usually far higher than what you would normally experience, this is usually because you are stressed (commonly called quot;white coat syndromequot;). There will be a slight drop or rise in BP in standing vs sitting. All home BP machines should be recalibrated every year to ensure accuracy. You Should try taking it to your GP and comparing its results next time you have an appointment. I hope this helps? Chris- Registered Nurse

I would say C is the answer. If you are trying to say that the side effects of pot are insignificant, consider that the medications you listed are probably for the treatment of serious illness, therefore the risk involved is worth a possibility of a cure. Marijuana does not treat or cure anything, except nausea and mild pain. But yes, the side effects of the other drugs do seem extreme

I m feeling a little nauseous just from reading the symptoms! 8^P I would guess C, since pot is a psychoactive drug. But I know (from considerable experience) that pot doesn t cause these things, at least not very commonly. I did a term paper on pot in college, back in the early 70s. I didn t smoke it at the time but I was very curious about it. I was taking a class in recreation (yeah, it was a requirement) and the usual 2-unit health class that every college soph takes, and I had a term paper due in both so I asked the instructors if I could combine them and do Pot as a Recreational Drug . The more I read about pot, the pot culture, pot users, etc., the more fascinated I got. It turned out that only one doctor in the entire US was allowed to even study pot in those days, and he was a military doctor. The experiments involved extracting THC and shooting megadoses into mice, directly into their bloodstreams, the reporting that they seemed disoriented . But the Brits had done a very extensive study in India in the 1890s and found no significant side effects. It s funny, the D set of side effects includes gynecomastia. For a while, years ago, there was a campaign against pot that warned it caused gynecomastia. It turned out to be based on ONE CASE of a college-aged boy who already had serious hormonal imbalances. The strange thing was that there were full-page magazine ads showing what appeared to be a woman s naked breasts, but the text at the bottom explained that they were boy-boobs, caused by pot. The really dangerous thing about pot is that if you smoke a joint every day for 70 years you will get wrinkled skin, diminished libido and sexual function, weakened muscles, loss of endurance, thinning hair, cataracts, and hair growing out of your ears. Or if you -don t- for 70 years. 8^)

Mild tricuspid regurgitation with a pressure gradient of 16mmHg? -

What does this mean? Had an EKG done - abnormal; had an echo done - results are: quot;....left atrium normal... left ventricular wall thickness...normal...no segmental wall motion abnormality...color flow doppler study reveals mild tricuspid.... I was reading a few things online and am a bit worried.... Before giving me some insight (yes, will see doc) here s the scoop: Almost 30 and gained 65 pounds after having my son.. single mom...developed hypertension in the past year, constant leg pain and swelling for the past 2.5 years... swelling is next to nil (currently), pain has subsided a bit... pain in chest, simultaneously lose breath for a second, followed by heart palpitation... serious stuff, huh.... Tomorrow: stress test... Can someone explain what I should be expecting to hear in my next doc s visit... please answer truthfully! Thanks!

I think your scan sounds essentially normal. Mild TR is nothing to worry about and the gradient is only mildy elevated. Losing weight would probably put all of this back to quot;normalquot;. See your doctor though to be sure. BTW do you know what was wrong with your EKG?

Boy (19) suffers severe nose-bleed, breatlessness, escalated BP amp; pain when he has anxiety. Possible causes? -

Already on hypertension meds. Feels perfectly normal after bleeding is over. All heart-monitoring reports are normal. Kidney normal. During the episodes, experiences severe breathlessness and pain. No family history of nose bleed, family members developed some hypertension at old age. Lives in a hot and polluted city. Any direction for diagnosis will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

All I can say is change the diet! If a kid that young is on meds for high blood pressure the kid probably eats a typical awful diet. Give up drinking carbonated drinks, sports drinks, eating anything with caffeine in it and quot;fast foodsquot;. No junk food, and drink some milk ! Calcium lowers blood pressure. If he eats only fresh fruits, veggies, lean meats , whole grains, and drinks lots of water all of his health will improve.

Use the quot;Symptom Checkerquot; http://www.webmd.com

Your best be honestly would be to see and endo, and and ENT (ear, nose, throat). He can allergies, adnoids, cysts etc.. you really need to see a specialist that specifically studies diseases of the blood, to rule out any serious underlying causes. Another suggestion would be is to see and ENT, perhaps it is something simple. I remember my sister having a lot of bloody noses as a child, particularly cause she was born with a heart condition. Her blood didn t clot as quickly as normal. However, today as she is old she doesn t experiance them much anymore. I would have a full evaluation!

What you describe could be the result of several things, stress included. Make an appointment to be re-evaluated by your Health Care Provider..

blood work is key. Check abg s (arterial blood gases) could be an imbalance of electrolytes.

Stress

When Im sleeping, it feels as if something is banging my forehead...? -

Many times in the night, I wake up to what feels something banging my forehead; jerking my entire head. Often, this is followed by excessive ringing in my ears. This is quite concerning and it s affecting my sleep. Here are some details about my health (and I ve no insurance so medical testing is not an option): -male -22 years old -155 lbs -5 11 -caucasian -vegetarian -relatively active -moderate/light drinker -non-smoker -no drug use -hypertensive (unknown cause) -Chiari-Malformation (elongated cerebral tonsils causing excess pressure of CSF) -various allergies And here are the medications and vitamins that I consume every day (my physican is well aware): -Celexia (antidepressant and for anxiety) -Atenenol (anti-hypertension and for anxiety) -prescription-strength Clariton (allergies) -Topamax (sleep sedative) -vitamin A through E, and multivitamin -zinc -omega-3 -magnesium -melatonin -soy-whey protein -sudafed (for allergies) -caffeine -aspirin

SOUNDS like from all that medication you are consuming could have resulted in the burning of the lining in your nasal septum. It also appears you might be taking medications that don t coincide with one another. you are on to much meds. Pills contradict one another, and go to an ENT (ear, nose and throat doctor asap).

You take sudafed and clariton everyday? I dont know about clariton but sudafed is a stimulant and if your taking more than 15mg a day you are probably taking to much, that stuff can make you jittery as h e double hockey sticks. Add on caffeine and whatever side effects those antidepressants have and you have a real recipe for feeling totallly out of sorts. try dropping a thing or two off the list till the banging goes away. Good luck, I hope you feel better.

It is probably your blood pressure that is the culprit, although I would also eliminate caffeine. Topamax has some pretty weird side effects. It made me stoooopid!! You don t have insurance, but do they have a County Health Department where you live, or a hospital that provides indigent care for those of us who don t have insurance? Here in Georgia it is the Henry W. Grady Memorial Hospital. I get my prescriptions for $2 each and $25 for emergency room visits. You should explore this.

Holy crap you take too much stuff. I would bet the Topamax is messing with you, sleeping medicines are funny that way. I would throw all that crap a way and drink a glass of wine!

Sounds like an interaction of some kind between the large amount of medications and vitamins you take each day....kind of like a speedball effect. Try eliminating some of the ones that are the least necessary and see what happens. Good luck!

i have similar or used to i found that the problem with me was my pillow i tried the soft the hard and medium i found the medium did the trick and the headpain eventualy subsided i dont say this is the cure but its somthing you could try all the best ..........seamanab

Isn t it just a headache? Go see a doctor, not undimploma-ed un-doctors.

Glascow scale score of 6? -

Can anyone tell me what a glascow score of 6 means in terms of prognosis and outcome for a person that has had some of their sedation (ventilator) reduced? I posted last night about her condition on this board -she has congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, amp; pulmonary hypertension. She was recently hospitalized, went into cardiac arrest, they rescucitated her and put her on a ventilator. This was last friday and today they wanted to assess her brain function. Apparently they are gradually taking her off medicine but because she is overweight it takes time for the meds to be excreted from her body. However, they did say that as of this morning she was a 6 - what does that exactly mean? How good/bad prognosis is this? I know 15 is a fully awake person but does the glascow scale mean anything if a person is sedated?? Any help would be appreciated as I cannot ask the doctors since she doesn t live in the US. Thanks!

glasgow scale is a score given to patients to on a point system to see exactly how serious the problem is and to more or less predict the prognosis. i won t get into the specifics but the higher the number, the better the prognosis. i was always taught the rule of 8, anything less than 8 is in a coma. given the condition she came in, her prognosis is poor. though this score can improve, depending on when this score was taken, if she does improve within 6 hours the prognosis is 50% better. i m very sorry for your situation and i wish i could give you better news. don t give up hope, there is still a great chance she can recover and it is important to stay by her side and stay updated with the doctors.

any score less than 8 on the glascow coma scale is considered to be a quot;coma statequot; if she is sedated should not make a difference, unless she is overly sedated or in a medically induced coma. They score the coma scale like this response score eyes open- spontaneous 4 to speech 3 to pain 2 absent 1 verbal- converses/oriented 5 converses/disoreinted 4 inapropriate 3 incomprehensible 2 absent 1 motor- obeys 6 localizes pain 5 withdraws 4 decorticate 3 decerebrate 2 absent 1 you can see if she is too sedated she would not be able to do some of the things, so it could affect the overall score. The range of imparement they score this on is mild 13-15 mod 9-12 severe 3-8 hope that helped

Vitamins?? -

-Which vitamin causes redness of skin? -Which vitamin causes congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, and hypertension? -Which vitamin causes unbalanced electrolytes?

Niacin (Vit B3) can cause flushing of the skin Sorry, not sure about others.

My health comes first? -

I almost finished medical school, but when i was suddenly diagnosed with diabetes and discovered that i have chronic hypertension. i discovered that i can t handle the stress, my blood pressure will shoot up even with medications, when i was on duty and on call, there are times that i don t eat or can t eat right away due to the volume of patients coming in, patients come first, that s why. I would have migraines and feel that i m on the verge of a nervous breakdown. lack of sleep would also aggravate my diabetes and hypertension. I feel that i was killing myself, little by little, what s worse, is that i began questioning if all of these were worth it, since it will put my health in serious jeopardy. I was not feeling well for most of the time, so I suddenly lost interest with what i was doing, the drive and determination were lost. So that s when i decided to quit and have a change of lifestyle. I want to live longer, so i put my health first.

I believe that you made the right choice for yourself.First of all you have to be healthy and stable in every aspect(body and soul)in order for you to be able to provide help to others. When you do something that you don t enjoy, then you d better not do it at all.Of course what matters is yourself at this point.

I assume you are looking for validation that you made the right choice. It is up to you I have worked with many docs who are have dm. A good option is to keep small snacks like fig newtons on you to keep you going when you can t eat a full meal.

souns like you can t handle pressure. many can t. change job ect and move on. you can come back when you learn to assert yourself and have a rise in self esteem and confidence. no problems. take a break.

I personally feel you have made a good choice. You can make yourself a lot sicker if you keep ignoring your diabetes. With diabetes you need to be making sure you eat regularly and you are testing your blood so you can take your insulin. If your current career path is hindering this than yes you should quit. If you don t take proper care of youself you can get organ failure, they might have to amputate a body part. I mean being in medical school you know the reprocussions of what happens when you have diabetes.

Well, you can try getting a union job in a factory...

Occasional white spots on hands/feet.. blood flow probs? (with pic)? -

Heres a pic of my hand when its acting up spots of paleness spread and recede at random. I guess its loss of blood press, but I have high BP (doc said I had the kind that spiked up and down severely, along with my emotions- some form of hyper hypertension), not low. There is no numbness, and no amount of arm flailing or muscle flexing will make them go away... they just appear and go away on their own. This may be related to my other weird problem ( I tunnel vision out immediately, and often faint, during an out of breath laughing/coughing fit), or maybe something else is wrong with me.. :/ I would have gone to get checked, but atm I m without medical insurance... so I m asking for opinions here to see if it ever seems serious enough that I d be willing to goto a hospital and pay out of pocket for care. (cant get BP med perscriptions without insurance either, apparently)

I wish I could give you a more informative answer, but I have the same issue.. and I ve never worried enough about it to go to the doctor over it. I ve noticed it most often whenever there s a temperature change. For what it s worth I have low blood pressure, it s -always- low, maybe that has something to do with it? Sorry I couldn t be of more assistance.

How many people are over 50 and have had high blood pressure for most of their lives? -

I am 58 and have had high blood pressure for at least 35 years. At first it flucuated.. but has been high steadily since 1989..I have taken varous medications through the years. Now I am taking Lotensin and Atenenol. I ve known people that never had high blood pressure at all till they were in their late 40 s or 50 s and immediately had all types of heart or kidney problems.. I have to go to the bathroom a lot, but other than that I don t seem to have severe problems with anything.. Does anyone know why I m not dead yet, or have some severe problem..they do say hypertension is a killer..

Yes, - I know why you re not dead. Age-related hypertension is largely a myth. My typical B/P readings are much higher than yours, about 195/105 daily, and many times a day well over 200 systolic. But I m still here at 80, rising 81. The worst medications you can possibly take are beta-blockers, and are proven to increase your chances of heart failure or stroke. Do stop taking anything ending in quot;....lolquot;. The human heart does NOT generate higher pressures as we age; we all generate roughly the same pressure, but as we get older and the arteries less elastic, the peak pressures are transmitted further and further down the arterial tree (instead of being attenuated and filtered out along the way). Thus, it appears -to anyone measuring them at downstream arterial points- that the pressures are increasing. But they re not. It s an illusion.... I hope you can understand that, -I know it s difficult if you haven t done medicine. The point is, if your (indicated) B/P s DIDN T rise as you got older, then THAT would make you abnormal. That s because failure to have elevated (indicated) B/P s means your cardiac function is becoming impaired. So you re absolutely, completely, typically normal. Stop taking the pills and you ll have a better chance of surviving to my healthy old age. Are you asking if I m saying the doctors are wrong ? Of course I am. I ll spell it out: - the Doctors are wrong. Evidence? It s really quite simple. The mean arterial pressure they re trying to get yours down to, namely well under 100 mms/Hg, simply wouln t be enough to drive 5000mls/min of blood round your arterial loop, which has a total impedance to flow of about 0.02. You know for certain that your flow is roughly 5000 mls/minute, and every textbook states that your TPR (impedance) is approximately 0.02 and doesn t rise with age, therefore the indicated pressure is simply wrong. The numbers simply don t add up.

The medical profession confuses quot;averagequot; (or quot;typicalquot;) with normality, ... which is quite a different thing. Average height, -for instance may well be 5ft - 6ft.... but it doesn t mean that people of 4ft or 7ft don t function completely normally and healthily. Do wean yourself off Atenolol,.... Report Abuse

alot of people have high b/p sounds like your keeping yours under control

I underwent CABG during 2005. Now two grafts are occluded What could be reasons? What r remedies? -

CARDIAC CATH Date of Cath : 20-05-2005 Ao.Pr.Sys/diast./mean(mean) : 130/80m 100 ANGIOS: LMCA : Normal LAD : 99% after D2, 20% distal LAD D2 : 95% osteoproximal CX (nd) : 60% ostial OM1 : 70% osteoproximal SURGERY INFORMATION Date of Surgery : 26-05-2005 Through a limited median sternotomy on a beating heart without conventional cardio pulmonary bypass aorto coronary saphenous vein grafting to. - First diagonal artery - First obtuse marginal artery - Second right ventricular branch of right coronary artery - Ramus Intermedius artery - The left radial artery was grafted to the first ventricular branch of right coronary artery. - The left internal mammary artery was grafted to left anterior descending artery. POST OF PERIOD : He had fever in the post operative period and was managed by Dr. Ramasubramaniam (Infectious Disease Specialist). He had thrombophlebitis of right forearm which may be the cause of fever. His advice was followed. POST OF ECHO : Paradoxical IVS motion, no other regional wall motion abnormality, LV normal in size, adequate LV function, no LV clot. But on an Annual Check up and on undergoing 64 SLICE CT CORONARY ANGIOGRAM on 18.10.2007 the following are the findings:- Provisional Diagnosis/Clinical Data: Hypertension, Dyslipidemia, Chest pain, Post CABG. Report : 64 slice CT coronary angiogram was performed by injection of 60ml of nonionic intravenous contrast and retrospective ECG gating. Curved reconstructions, multiplanar reformats and 3 dimensional reconstruction were performed to evaluate the coronary arterial anatomy. Grafts : LIMA graft to left anterior descending (LAD) is patent with good distal run off. SVG to PLB is patent with good distal run off. SVG to D1 is patent with good distal run off. LRA to RCA is occluded. SVG to OM is occluded. Native vessels: The left main coronary artery (LMCA) reveals eccentric thin soft plaque with no significant stenosis. The proximal LAD reveals thick calcified plaque with critical stenosis. The mid LAD is occluded. The LCx reveals thick calcified plaques in its ostio – proximal segment causing about 50% stenosis of the ostium and 40% stenosis of the mid LCx. The first OM reveals ostial calcified plaque causing 60% stenosis. Diatally it is well perfused. The second OM reveals ostial stenosis at 40% by calcified plaque. Distally it is well perfused and large in calibre. The right coronary artery (RCA) reveals thrombotic occlusion of the mid segment for a length of 30 mm. The posterior descending artery (PDA) reveals mixed plaque in its distal segment causing 30 – 40% stenosis. Myocardium: The myocardium reveals no areas of focal thinning.

How seriously you were able to make the changes to have a healthy heart determine if you have more blockages or not. They are not secret. No stress, loving environment, high anti-oxidant diet, low or nearly no fat, no trans fat, low salt, no smoking, blood pressure reduction , regular exercise, weight loss if necessary. WIthout quot;film at 11quot; for the evidence, only you know what you did or did not do.

what are the drugs you are taking at the moment? what are your blood glucose , serum cholesterols and liver function test values.

NEED OPTIONS, Had a stress test and now they want to do a angioploasty.? -

I do get tired quickly sometimes. Not bothered with Angina. maybe one or two nitros every 6-7 mos. hypertension w/ diabetes as of last Aug. as well as angio-edema and vasculitus and uticara. stable on 20 mg. prednisone. had a MI in 99 and a cabg. at that time. My problem now is that Baychol did a job on me as well as it seems if i can be allergic I will or if something can go wrong it will. So other than makeing sure I have good folks working on me. I dont want to be stented just because thats the thing today. Because after reading the stats of late probs.. etc I dont know the more I study the less I know..What should I ask. other options etc.just give me the whole ten yards.. thanx

I m going in this Monday for my sixth angioplasty. I currently have SEVEN stents. Thank God for this technology. I would have been dead 15 years ago. I ll never be off Plavix for as long as I live. Who cares? At least I can wake up each day, go to work, and enjoy my family.

a) you need the stent as angioplasty on its own without stent would have a much higher rate of failing. Discuss with your cardiologist the different stent options, if you are afraid of drug reactions discuss with him the option of a standard stent rather than a drug eluting one. If you decide against stent then you are going to need a further cabg. you could ask your cardiologist to discuss your case with your other speciality doctors to come up with the best option for you.

Only you know if you have symptoms that warrant extraordinary medical intervention.

Delay the procedure for 6 weeks and try this alternative. You will feel generally better from day 7, and if you feel less tired then your arteries are getting cleared naturally(the next test will show the improvement).Your sugar level will also be controlled. You need to help your body to build up your immune system. The breathing exercises - pranayam is a holistic approach creating extra oxygen supply in the body and will slowly help with the health problem.Do the pranayam to see the benefits.Build up your timing slowly and after two weeks at the suggested duration you will start to notice benefits. Bhastrika - Take a long deep breath into the lungs(chest not tummy) via the nose and then completely breathe out through the nose.Duration upto 5 minutes. Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for upto 30 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently. Anulom Vilom - Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril then -keeping the left nostril closed deep breath-in through right nostril then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril. This is one cycle of anulom vilom. Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day). You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed. Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee. Duration : 5 to 10 times ---- Only by doing you will benefit and will feel good that you can do something to help the body.Copy and print this to master the technique. This is simplified pranayam for everyone and you do not have to go to classes to learn. This is for life unlike short term classes where you do it in the class then stop when classes are over.

Well, the fact you have diabetes is the reason why you are allowed not to have typical angina and your shortness of breath is maybe all of the symptoms you will develop. Consequently, you were probably advised angioplasty with a reason. Besides, no one of us (meaning: doctors) is crazy about encountering more complications than the bare necessity. Therefore - if I were you - I d talk again with my Cardiologist, explain my fears (the whole Prednisone-related story) and ask if there was a chance of running some tests by the Allergologists in terms of short- and long-term dual anti-platelet therapy that you d be advised to take (meaning Aspirin + Plavix), to exclude potential allergies to Aspirin and Plavix. Once you have their opinion, you can re-talk with your Cardiologist and re-think the entire thing yourself. Good luck!

Morbid Obesity Disability? -

I would like to know if it is likely I will qualify for disability. I weigh 366 pounds and have Hypertension, Acid Reflux, and have had a stroke in the past. The reason I ask is not for money or because I am lazy. I currently hold a job but it is a desk job which compounds my problem. I am 22 year old man and am unable at this point to even walk down the block without having to stop and rest. I am uninsured and because of this cannot afford regular treatment or something truly helpful such as lapband. I am wanting to look into this so that I can get the surgery. After years of trying to lose weight I am afraid I am at a point were my health is just too bad to reasonably lose weight through traditional means. I ve tried dieting, and cardio exercise when I was more able to do so. I m ashamed of how I look, and that I cannot even comfortably go for a walk with my fiance at this point. I would just like to be able to play with my children in a few years when we decide to start trying for them... I m hoping if everything works out I can use the insurance to finally get the help I need, and then return to work once I can function in society again without being a joke anymore...

A lot of people react badly after ingesting foods and drinks labelled quot;dietquot; items as they usually contain an artificial chemical sweetner called aspartame.......... aspartame.......... the truth about aspartame is that it is an insidious sweet chemically enhanced sugar that will cause all sorts of devastating side affects if consumed in enough quantities. Seems ludicrous to me that something that is marketed to help you lose weight will in actual fact help you to gain weight ........... what aspartame does is block the satiety receptors in your brain (you know that feeling of satiety ie ~ having had enough to eat or drink??) thus making you unaware of the fact that you re not hungry anymore and you will most times simply keep eating .................. ***brrrr shudders*** ...... avoid that nasty stuff like the plague ... it s pure amp; simple sludge for your body i reckon .......... it also causes a devastating list of side affects. There is a vast amount of very usefull and insightfull information on this website ......... the site is labelled as a detox programme but the information on documented side affects is the part that should be of most use to you ~ list of side affects are hideous to say the least. Is it possible that you are inhibiting your own efforts to lose weight by relying on foods labelled quot;Dietquot; or quot;low Caloriequot;??? I m sorry i can t help with the disability question as i am not American. Take care of you ? peace baby

Cardio is not the best way for us fat boys (I am 6 2quot; and 300-ish) to lose weight. I cycle between 260 and 300 every 4-5 years. I dropped from 289 to 239 in 6 months playing hockey and working out when I was in my 20 s. I doubt I could do that now but it was healthy and I still have the strength. I lost 20 pounds in a month and gained 80 pounds on my bench and shaved my mile from 15 minutes to a 10 minute mile working with a trainer 2-3 times a week (it wasn t cheap). The change was readily apparent and I went from a 44 waist to a 40 waist. I am at the top of my cycle and headed back down again. Why? Because once I lose the weight and make me and the doctor happier I pick up the bad habits again. ...especially at Halloween. If you had a stroke at 22 that was likely due to the high BP in the past, right? That might make working out a bit more difficult and a lot more dangerous. You really need to talk to a doctor before working out. Lay off the processed sugars and, if possible, processed foods. Even Smart Ones and Lean Cuisine have 30-40% of your daily sodium requirement. That shoots the BP into the stratosphere. Switch to diet soda for your caffeine and soda fix. You can phase that out over time because the caffeine is bad and leads to higher BP. Don t do it all at once. Drink 8 glasses of water a day. Get 8 hours of sleep (you may have sleep apnea because of the weight). Eat healthier meals. A pound of green beans (prepared healthy) is better than a pound of Kit Kats. Stay away from beer if you like alcohol. Wine is a healthier alternative, particularly red wines (Zinfandel is a Rose and not a Red. ...and friends don t let friends drink Zin). Some argue that liquor is better...but it almost always requires a mixer. Stick with a glass or two of wine. Walk up and down the block and stop and rest. Swimming is a good exercise, particularly in water that you can stand up in. Anti-depressants can cause you to gain weight. Depression (as mentioned earlier) can cause weight gain. Eat 6-7 small meals a day rather than 2-3 large ones. A small meal is 1-2 fists of food. It would not hurt to get a job with insurance. Some companies don t have clauses for pre-existing conditions and at your weight you might qualify for LapBand depending upon the policy. I had a friend that went from 330 to 230 in less than a year on the band.

Are you depressed? Depression could be the cause behind your weight gain! I KNOW I have been depressed, and although I am still in my healthy range, I have gained 20lbs. just from depression! I would def. suggest that you get medical insurance that covers this problem, and possibly a bypass surgery! On top of this a colon cleanser, and my sister just lent me this book called the quot;body ecology dietquot; Basically you an only eat non starchy veggies, Sea veggies, Kefer, Millet, Quinoa, Amaranth, Buckwheat and meat! NO dairy, NO fruit, and NO NO NO sugar! They alsrecommendnd you drink a LOT of water (curbs cravings) and cleanse you colon as MUCH as possible! I really HOPE this helps! As for weather or not you areligiblele I am more than POSITIVE you are! I just think you should ask your Doctorer!

Why is my systolic bp elevated by 20 pts for a full 12 hours after excercise? -

Of course my bp is elevated during excercise, but it is also elevated after hours of rest by 20 pts in the systolic and 10 pts in the diastolic. More detail on my case. At seventeen my pediatrician sent me home with a bp monitor for consistent systolic readings over 140. I was not over weight then. At twenty-nine I was prescribed clonidine. I have taken it for six years. I have had six episodes of rebound hypertension in that period and DESPERATELY want to quit this HORRIBLE drug. To quit this drug I have been prescribed lisinopril. It did not work. Hydrochlorothiazide. It did not work. A calcium channel blocker. It did not work. Now carvedilol. It is not working. I have also tried all of these in combination. They do not work. All tests have come back normal. I take no other drugs legal or illegal. My blood pressure is unrelated to any subjective feeling of anxiety unless I am VERY anxious. I am 6 1quot; 200 lbs. I have taken up cardio excercise. I was running regularly when I was prescribed the clonidine six years ago and kept running until two years ago, but had to quit from knee pain. For the last six months both of my legs from knee to heel have been uncomfortably cold. It is only brifely relieved by excercise.

It means that your heart is working far too hard. Try eating more fish with omega-3 fatty acids. Salmon is actually recommended by the American Heart Association for recovering heart attack survivors.

On furosemide (water pills) and breast-feeding.....? -

I had pregnancy induced hypertension and am currently on labetalol to treat it. Due to extreme swelling during pregnancy, I was discharged from the hospital with a perscription for furosemide (water pills) to get rid of the extra water. I had 3 doctors treat me while I was there. A perinatologist, a cardiologist, and a hematologist. All are aware that I was breast feeding. I just went on the internet and it s telling me I SHOULD NOT breast feed while on furosemide. Why would they perscribe me this if they know I was breast feeding? Do the benefits outweigh the risk? Should I be worried? I want to know if anyone else has gone thru this and thanks ahead of time.

Call your Dr. and tell him about what you read and your concerns for your baby.

Homework Help? -

How does hypertension forms in human beings? Describe the treatment for hypertension. Thanks

Do your own homework and stop being a sloucher. Are you that lazy that you can t look it up on the interent but you can waste the time posting help with your homework???

Some of the main causes of Primary Hypertension can be a diet high in sodium, saturated fat, and/or cholesterol. Diets low in potassium, calcium, and magnesium are contributing factors. Other contributing facts are smoking, obesity, stress, heredity, and age. Treatment consists of changes in diet, weight loss, exercise, stress management, smoking cessation and/or antihypertensive drugs (such as diuretics, beta or alpha blockers, calcium-channel blockers) Some causes of Secondary Hypertension can be excess renin secretion, arterisclerosis, hyperthyroidism, or Cushing s disease. Treatment of secondary hypertension is directed toward correcting the listed causes (such as treating Cushing s disease). Hope it helps.

Help with my rage, strange things set me off. Chewing noises especially.? -

Alright, so I have terrible anger issues and hypertension. I am seventeen. I am not on anything, because my doctor does not listen to me and perscribed me ineffective antidepressants. My biggest problem is chewing noises. I cannot handle listening to people pop their gum or chew with their mouth open. This is difficult for me, my parents get angry at me when I politely ask them to chew with closed mouths, and girls at school get irate and threaten me with their Crip boyfriends when I ask them not to pop their gum. People find it quite humorous that a rude chick with a mohawk can be reduced to tears (of anger) by chewing mouth noises. I keep it relatively quiet until I can t deal with it, but I don t understand... this. The only thing I ve found that helps is smoking weed or listening to music enough to block it out... but this is not always appropriate. So I m sick of being grounded, angry, threatened, etc.. is there a name for this, it is a disorder, what can I do? Its debilitating.

I have a slightly different take on what you describe, but it s merely a guess as I know of no particular disorder that involves those specific symptoms if that is all there is to the problem, which I doubt. What I wonder is whether the chewing noises somehow remind you of something, like a past unpleasant or difficult experience? Your reaction, taken by itself, sounds a lot like a response to a trigger stimulus, but perhaps not. Without further info and a context I would be hard pressed to answer your question. If many things make you angry besides what you describe, there may be more going on here. I would be curious to hear what the noises make you think of or what images they bring to mind.

talk to me i know how itfeels to be misunderstood: dogmicjoe@yahoo.com. just try to relax. go to holisticonline.com for advice. just walk or do music. also drink chamomile tea. good luck. i am here if u need a shoulder

Go to your herbal store and get some liquid Kava or Valerian Root. Take some as soon as you feel the first signs and within minutes you will feel better. I have used them for years. This will help in school when you can t smoke but need something to take the edge off. I am the same way except I hold it in until I blow up. You don t have bi-polar you have anger issues and I bet can hold a grudge till someone dies if not longer, you sound like me. It does not take much such as my 11 years making these shrill baby talking Voice to her cat to just make me want to kick her. ( I don t but sometimes I really want too)---OK fine I did kick her in her butt once. Butt I was the one to trip anad fall over so little good it did.

I can t stress this enough - take the stupid antidepressants. Trust me trust me trust me. If they don t work, ask the doc for a higher dose or a different med. But TAKE THEM. There s a whole new world around the corner. Oh yeah, there is a name for it - bipolar.

Don t let annoying habits control you, or whatever else people do that causes you to get angry. You would only become guilty of the same sin that afflicts them, and nothing would be solved. Instead, I would encourage you to have a relationship with and open your life to Jesus Christ and let him give you a new love for others. Let Him show you ways you can help bridge the gap between people, and let him help you in every area of your life to live for Him! What are you accomplishing by losing your control? I say give your anger to Jesus Christ! Because He already died for your anger and sin! Let me fill you in to a secret about releasing anger! I know how you feel but the second you feel anger coming on, Ask yourself is this really a battle in your mind that you have to win? Is it really worth it? How can you make the situation your in better? I tell you NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING WILL RELEASE MORE ANGER thangt;gt;gt;FORGIVENESS!!!!!!!! That is why Jesus said: But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you! (Matt 5:44) The Bible says: Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Jesus Christ God forgave you. (Eph. 4:31-32) If you do not know the story of Jesus I encourage you to pick up a bible sometime and start with the gospel of John there you will read of a man named John the Baptist that paved the way for another man named Jesus. Know that Jesus and God loves you! God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) You see Jesus was flogged or beaten over 40 times, as Jesus stood silent, he was humiliated, degraded, mocked, striped naked, had jammed a crown of thorns on this head and was then nailed to a cross only after he had to walked nearly a mile with a heavy crossbeam to his back! Why? You ask: The Bible answers that? For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in his steps, Jesus who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in his mouth; and while being reviled, he did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting himself to him who judges righteously. (1 Peter 2:21-23) Christ hung on the cross for six hours before he died, He was there from nine in the morning until three in the afternoon. In spite of such enormous discomfort and indescribable pain, Jesus ONLY spoke words of genuine forgiveness to those who affiliated so much pain and anger to him! From the cross Jesus Spoke: quot;Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.quot; What? I know if that where me I would be very angry and not be forgiving men for doing all that to me! But, the fact is the Jesus was God in Human form so Jesus is perfect, he died for are imperfectness, sin and are anger! So, I would encourage you brother to develop a relationship with Jesus because he knows how you feel! Give it to him and offer forgiveness to all that make you angry! You will find that it makes a big difference! It s one thing to be annoyed by there gum chewing or there chewing with there mouths open. It is another thing to let their bad habit make you loose control in your mind!

to me you sound like a problem child at 17 a big one.i think your doctor is right giving anti depressants, your blood pressure possibly comes from your anxieties, you cannot stop millions of people from chewing gum.are you tryiing to stand out in the crowd,a mohawk indeed.i think you are a very immature person for your age.grow up or lock yourself up away from he hustle and the bustle.if you were not 17 i tan your ****

Your doctor is an idiot. Small doses of Atavan, Prozac or Zoloft, can be of great help with this. It takes a little while to kick in, couple of weeks. But they do work. Myself and both my sisters suffer from what you discribed. It is a type of compulsive disorder. The smacking makes me nuts, but it s the potatoe chips that push me over the edge. Learning to live with it, and a good counselor, makes a world of difference. The meds just get you started on the right road. Never mind what others might say. It may not be normal for them, but it is normal for those who suffer from this. Everybody has to find their own way. Good Luck

I can see from your writing that you are bright, intelligent, and self-aware and have your head firmly attached to your shoulders. So, I can imagine your frustration being overwhelmed with feelings which have a life of their own. For myself, I used to get enraged and overwhelmed by any sound whatsoever and I was miserable. What did help for me was seeing a psychiatrist who really knows what he s doing. Believe it or not, he put me on a beta-blocker - which just so happens to be a blood pressure medication. It actually helped. Now, for me this is more of a generalized problem of my nervous system being hyperaware and using a drug that helps it to tone down. I can t say that it would help but perhaps you might suggest it to your doctor as an option. Having hypertension as well may make it not such a bad idea. I don t know if there is a chemical similarity but if smoking weed helps then perhaps you may find a drug/chemical solution is what you re looking for. (a legal one, anyway, ;-) I admire your fortitude and your attitude and hope that you find a solution. At least you know you can hold out until school is over and you can leave home and be away from the crazies. Also, sometimes I hate to mention it because it sounds so cliche but getting some counseling might be useful in working through the anger. I remember when I was your age, living in a constant state of rage which felt so out of control. It s not worth the pain. Being able to talk through your feelings with a professional can release a great deal of inner tension. Rock on.

What are these symptoms related to.....? -

I am 32 years married woman having 2 kids with the past his. of artheritis which is now normal with 58 kgs weight and 5.1 height. From last 6 months i was feeling terribly depressed amp; nervous all the time amp; very lethargic i was not having interest in even routine house jobs. My behaviour was become very irritating amp; i was getting angry with very small things. But before 10 days i have taken a treatment of accupressure for my artheritis as my legs and hands were paining all the time. But now in this week my nervousness , hypertension (Which doctors were relating asPMS) is gone i am feeling more positive and energitic but when i went to gyno he given some test to do as my HB is 10.7 and i have some big gall bladder stones which are not even paining but before 2mths i have change my IUD and last month my period came quite early on 1st Feb. but this time till now my periods are not come but i dont have any depression is this a early menopause? i hve to fix next appt.DR. to show repo.

This sounds like it could be related to a hormone imbalance such as due to thyroid. I would recommend starting with your primary care physician to look in to that aspect. I take it you are in Europe and HB must have to do with how they define blood sugars there. Have you been checked for Diabetes as well? Pls check with your primary care physician.

It could be the gallstones that are doing this to you because there are times where you don t need to be in pain to have these symptoms, possibly they are poisoning your system right now and causing slow affects of it.

Vascular headache worry? -

The other night I was at the hospital due to sever headache (Thunderclap headache). I was diagnosed with having a vascular headache which the ER dr. described as one of my blood vessels in my brain is small and because I have sever hypertension (high blood pressure 169/113) it causes this blood vessel to swell a bit. Well I was discharged on Wed. morning I still have the headache (they said it could last up to 10 days) but now I have a problem with my left arm. It keeps locking up towards my chest and my hand goes into a claw. (Best way to discribe is when some body gets a brain injury and there arm go handicapped). I also get sever twitching in the right side of my face. It is not constant. It happens about every 20 seconds for about 2-3 hours then it will stop for a couple hours then start again. I can t see my dr. until Monday. Should I go back to the ER. or should I just wait till Monday.

pl see what suits you. If you are in cold country use all warm things. If you have cough/cold body hot water bath will help. Massage and exercise in front of morning sun is good thing, pl try. Pl try simple acupressure given below for immediate relief. If it fails you will have to go for Acupuncture. There is hardly any medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache, Ear ache/ringing, Stomach ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic. Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV amp; COMPUTER SOMETIMES, Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine amp;H/A confirms it. Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see. Pain killers don t treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds. The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more. Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, tension, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole. Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits like dates, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there. But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong. If it is acute pl search a painful point (with round tipped pen/jimmy) 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds. For forehead/eye pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below. It may disappear naturally too. There is something going on in your brain which needs to be evaluated. Call your doctor and/or go to another ER for a second opinion.
