Feet swelling....? -

I have hypertension and lately my feet have been swelling quite a bit. Is this something I should worry about? I take medication for the blood pressure..Norvask 10mg once a day.

Norvasc(Amlodipine) Yes, you need to talk to your doctor. It may be side effects from the Norvasc. It also may be signs of heart failure where you heart can t pump to get blood and other fluids flowing correctly. Do you also have trouble breathing when laying down? Or, you wake up coughing? Any dizziness when sitting up or standing up? It could be a number of things. Your doctor should be able to ascertain what. This is NOT a symptom I would dismiss.

talk to your GP

Honey, you need to go back to your doctor, see how (if) your medication is working or needs adjusting, or if you need a fluid pill too. Depending on how bad your swelling is I d make that trip to the doc in a few days .. or just next time you need a followup.

Could be the start of congestive heart failure.

Speak to your GP

Nothing wrong with that. It just shows that you re been a good housewife. Now, get off the computer and back to the stove, woman!

this is a good question to ask your doctor. you could be holding fluid and might need a diuretic, but only your doctor can tell you this for sure. as a help, try taking your shoes off and sitting with your feet elevated a little in the evenings and also wear support hose during the day as long as they don t cut into yoyr legs.

it could be the hypertension but it could also be another problem like with your kidneys or something. maybe just mention it to the doctor and see what they say. if there was any weight gain recenty that could be part of the problem too. you may be having trouble retaining too much fluid in certain areas of the body. have your thyroid checked too.
