Is there a diagnosis termed quot;hypertensive heart attack? .? -

I understand hypertension can cause a heart attack...but have never heard the term hypertensive heart attack ....very interested. Thank you

There are two diagnosis here. Hypertension and heart attack. Hypertension increases the workload of the heart. So when the heart is over worked it can become stressed and this could possibly cause a heart attack. There is a term hypertensive heart disease you can look this up by typing this into your Explorer bar.

Hypertension affects the smaller vessels that supply the heart muscle with blood, in addition to making the larger vessels have thicker walls. In uncontrolled hypertension you significantly decrease the blood flow through the smaller vessels. Add this to the fact that due to long-standing hypertension, you have caused the heart to enlarge, now have more heart muscle to supply (marginally, though it may be) with blood. Same reason that hypertension affects and is so dangerous to the placenta.

your heart attack could be the effect of your hypertension...it is a 2 different diagnosis...
