Is it practical to continue pregnancy under hypertension? -

My wife is 51 yrs old, 2 mos pregnant, blood pressure is 145/95.

A diagnosis of hypertension is usually the result of consistent high blood pressure readings. Hypertension during pregnancy could cause several complications, namely pre-eclampsia (a multi-system disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and can affect every organ system in the body), HELLP syndrome (a life-threatening complication of pre-eclampsia which happens in the later stages of pregnancy or even after childbirth), and eclampsia (which can cause convulsions, with fatalities to both mother and child). Usually in cases of such complications, 1 out of every 50 mothers affected will die, and 1 out of every 14 babies affected will die. Since all these are serious complications which poses great danger to both mother and child, I would advise you to think it through carefully and discuss it with your wife whether you feel it is worth the risk. There are other methods for a couple to have a child, including adoption, and an adopted child can bring you as much love and joy as your own. If you do decide to go through with it, please be extremely careful and attentive to any thing that you might feel that is out of place. I wish you all the best.

You can still get pregnant at that age?*faints*

What are her fysical complaints. That bloodpressure is not nessesarily dangerous. So what exactly are your concenrn and her complaints?

that s crazy
