Fasting before a hypertension blood test? -

how long before having a hypertension blood test do you need to fast

Yes, no food after 8pm the previous evening.

However long they say you need to fast.

There is no blood test for hypertension. You are confused. Diabetes, STDs, enzymes are tested by blood sample. BP is measured by a BP monitor.

As a Registered Nurse I have never heard of a Hypertension blood test in all my 15 years. Irregardless, fasting prior to blood work being drawn, the standard is NPO(nothing by mouth) after midnight the day before until your blood is drawn, or 8 hours prior to blood draw.

There is no such thing as a hypertension blood test. Hypertension is high blood pressure. If you need a blood test for something else and you have to fast, check with the person who s ordering the test how long you need to fast for, but usually it s 12 hours.

I am normally told nothing after midnight, although you do need to take your normal medication and can have water. My test is 8.40 in the morning.

When I ve had mine it s been from 8pm the night before until after the test.

about 12hrs
