My mother keeps on getting sick these days- colds, bronchitis, coughs...she has hypertension so she takes pill -

to regulate that... I want to give her echinacea but I am not sure if there would be any side effects since she is taking those pills...please advise!

...one word: organic

Echinacea is a great immune system booster and might really help your mother... but I wouldn t suggest asking here about an interaction with the drug. Your best (and safest) bet would be to ask a pharmacist if there are any interactions listed between the drugs and supplements you re taking. Doctors and pharmacists both have access to a database of drug and supplement interactions and they can tell you quickly if you can safely take them together or not.... anyone here will just have a best guess from searching on the internet (which isn t always accurate, as we all know) ;-) Good luck!

Echinacea is only suitable for short term use and long term use may actually weaken your immune system. To boost your immune system some extra vitamin C every day helps. A suitable amount would be 1 or 2 gm per day or even less. The two natural antibiotics colloidal silver and garlic oil also help to boost your immune system if you take them every day.

Give the name of the pills and I can help you. I have three huge quot;Biblesquot; of interactions of natural products, vitamins and medication.

It would help to know what type of pills she s taking.......
