Can a liver transplant be performed with pulmonary arterial hypertension? -

VA Hospital Guide Lines - No Liver transplant can be performed with pulmonary arterial hypertension. Is this true? Are there any exceptions or other treatments? Lusie

Cure for pulmonary HTN is heart and lung transplant, but I have never heard of a liver transplant that goes along.

Was it portal artery they were talking about. http://www.medicinenet.com/portal_hypert...

A liver transplant isn t going to help Pulmonary HTN. Medications such as Vasodilators and Diuretics are the treatment of choice. Usually the best way is to treat the underlying disease that is causeing the pulmonary HTN, such as a pulmonary embolus, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
