A late 50s lady suffers for half a month tingling feelings with pins and needles on her right hand til arm. -

What could that show? hypertension crisis, high bp, possible heart attack, lack of calcium or even carpal tunnel syndrom? Please cud someone with medical background comment on this symptom ? What shud this lady do next?TQ

It sounds like a circulation problem where there may be a clotting disorder She does need to see a doctor. I am not in the medical field, but had a young stroke due to one of these from the link I am giving. Best wishes

Well, it definitely sounds like something to get checked out, but I wouldn t list hypertension crisis, heart attack, or calcium deficiency high on the list of likely explanations. Does she have high blood sugar or diabetes? A tingling feeling in the extremities can be a result of nerve changes due to diabetes. However, this problem tends to present at the ends of the longest nerves first, and be bilaterally symmetrical. That means diabetic patients usually feel this in their toes first, hands later, and feel it on both sides. A likelier cause is a peripheral nerve impingement syndrome. This means one of the nerves supplying the area may be pressed on or squashed and the tingling is a sign of the nerve irritation. This could present only on one side, often in an area which has experienced overuse. Carpal tunnel syndrome is one such scenario. A doctor can usually tell which nerve is being irritated based on the part(s) that are tingling. Each nerve supplies a rather limited area. The thumb, index and middle finger are supplied by the medial nerve (carpal tunnel syndrome,) while the fourth and fifth fingers are supplied by the radial nerve. If a larger area is involved, the nerve irritation may be higher up the arm, even in the axilla (armpit) as the nerves leave the chest through the ribcage and enter the arm. Some people are even born with a narrow area for these nerves to cross out of the ribcage and the removal of a rib solves the problem. More than likely the problem can be easily diagnosed and treated with simple measures like reducing the local irritation and inflammation. Good luck!

Is she under any stress. Menopause maybe. Its not a heart attack,i know. Neither blood pressure.Did she injured her arm?????Do she has any fluid retention in her hands or feet, that could cause it.It sounds like stress to me or it could be a pinched nerve
