Hypertension? -

im 18 and my family has a history of hypertension. my cousin died from stroke at age 25 and almost everyone in my family has very high blood pressure. this worries me because i do as well...recently i took it and it was 140/80 with a heart rate of 110 and this was when i was relaxing. also when i sit down for long periods my feet get numb as well, occasionally my hands do too. i dont know if that is related but im just curious do you all have any ideas?

My suggestion would be to find you a good doctor. Keep a close observation on your health and blood pressure.

With a family history of hypertension, you need to be very careful yourself. At age 18, a resting BP of 140/80 is too high and a resting heart rate of 110 is too fast. The numbness in your feet and hands is also of concern. Please go to a Dr. and get a complete physical and bloodwork. This needs to be monitored and maybe treated.

You do have a strong family history of hypertension, therefore you need to be under the care of a good physician with regular monitoring and supervision of your blood pressure. There are excellent medicines available to treat hypertension at any age. I do not think ocassional numbness of hands and and feet is related to your blood pressure but you should check your plasma glucose levels.

If that was your bp when you were resting you need to go to the dr and get on some meds. You might have to try a few different ones before they can get the right ones for you but it will be worth it.
