I was just diagonsed with a right to left shunt. i am 22.? -

Is this the same thing as pulmonary hypertension. Is it dangerous?

It is not the same thing as pulmonary hypertension. Pulmonary hypertension means that the pressure in the pulmonary artery is too high. A right-to-left shunt means that some of your blood is not absorbing oxygen in the lungs before it is pumped to the rest of your body. Even though they are two different things, some people can have both conditions. Your doctor can tell you if you also have pulmonary hypertension. A right-to-left shunt can be dangerous because your body may not be getting all the oxygen it needs. It is good that they have found out that you have this problem. Now hopefully they can fix it or at least give you some oxygen. I hope you feel better soon.
