Hypertension OMG! 161/111? -

I had a free heart screening and my blood pressure was 161/111. Yea I know, I m calling my doctor for appointment. But in the meantime, anyone have experience and can you recommend a diet that works? I love fruits and veggies, I don t use salt much, but am under a great deal of stress. So any suggestions would be appreciated.

Low Salt Diets- Salt causes high blood pressure...

Yeah, that is a bit high. I have the same issue. Part of it is definitely your stress level. Another part of it though, like me, might just be genetic. I am 170 pounds, 6 ft tall, eat right, and yet still have high blood pressure. I am considering meds myself, if I can t figure something natural to do. Also make sure you get the proper amount of sleep per night. Bad sleeping habits will increase your blood pressure. Good luck with that friend.

You need a management program for your high blood pressure. By the way, when you measure your blood pressure, always do it 3 times. Take a break in between each reading for at least 30 seconds to allow your arm to get the blood flowing again. Take those 3 numbers and average them out. Also, don t measure your blood pressure after a meal. Give your body time to process the food you ate and then measure your blood pressure. Another thing to follow is to try to take a fasting blood pressure reading.

i tested my blood pressure at my mom s 167/100, i went to the hospital the next day cause i was so scared, they tested me and said they believe it was stress, they gave me a tranquilizer and it dropped down to 140/85...... 1 high reading doesn t mean you have high blood pressure, it s when it stays consistent you need to worry.....good idea going to the dr.......tell him/her know if you have had bad headaches, nose bleeds, dizziness....etc make sure you are drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day, water will get rid of any excess salt your body is holding on to..... take a high quality multi vitamin, i like twinlab one a day or solgar take chelated magnesium you can google about this take a b complex vitamin helps stress cut out caffeine...coffee, tea, colas get some exercise....even walking deep breathing exercises........ cut out coldcuts, olives, pickles, frozen dinners, mustard, ketchup, pretzels, potato chips......etc...read labels..... i hope it works out for you.......
