Only 1/3 of people are salt sensitive, so you may not have to shy away from salt. If you mostly do scratch cooking vs. eating out or all boxed stuff, salt is probably a non-issue. If you are overweight, losing 10% of your weight will drop your blood pressure! Walking for 30 minutes a day (or 10 minutes/ 3 times daily) can also help alot. Lots of folks at Weight Watchers meetings have reported this occuring. Also, I ve seen many reports that eating cucumbers can help lower blood pressure. I don t know if this is just a new old wives tale circulating or if it has merit. Many members of my immediate family have high blood pressure problems due to either poor diet and lack of exercise, or in my Mom s case a medication she takes. It is not genetic which is a different problem!
yup salt restricted diet
Eat fewer fried foods. Eat more lean meat. Eat more vegetables. Drink less caffeinated beverages and drink more water instead. Controlling portion sizes will also make a difference. There is no magic diet that will help. Eat sensibly, exercise, and follow your doctors orders.
