I have hypertension 143/98..135/92. on med nifedipine/aspirin 100 daily. any other medication that works best? -

i take vit e 400 daily + omega-3 1000mg daily. I have another problem that is my hemocue is 19.1 an cholesterol 6.7 (on simvastatin 1 daily). I reduce my smoking from 15 sticks daily to 10.. still trying to reduce some more

Most important concept here is just not to treat numbers. If Ur BP when checked by a trained personnel on different occassions few weeks apart (30 mins post rest, no prior caffeine/nicotine) remains at or above 140/90 then u have to control it gradually. Not only medications help in these situations rather many others.. 1 Regular exercise (eg, 15 minutes brisk walking atleast 3/week) 2 Less salt in your diet 3 Stopping smoking 4 Avoiding all junk foods 5 Alcohol less than 20 units/week 6 Food: Plenty of green leafy vegetables, atleast 3 portions of fruits espicaially rich in Vit C and juices daily 7 Medicines: If you r not an afro caribean after consulting ur doctor u can switch over to Ace Inhibitors alone or sometimes a water tablet like Indapamide along with Perindopril (Ace Inhibitor) Try and bring down Bp gradually over few weeks. Monitor ur bloods(electrolytes and kidneys) initially. For u all above 7 points and effort to control cholesterol, checking for sugar and monitoring is helpful. All the best

Add coral calcium. My high BP required meds. After just 10 days using the coral, my BP normalized. My doc told me to keep taking it.

my father used to take betaloc 50mg. he would recommend it to people who has the same problem but then of course, you have to consult your doctor.

Want to do this without medication? It worked for me so let me pass this on to you. Your absolute dedication to the following routine is essential. If you are committed, you will have 116/78 for the rest of your life: ARE YOU READY? Throw all your medications away. Throw all your vitamin bottles away. 1. morning, deep breathing. (Pranayam - see google for how to do this). 30 minutes. It is the old method, still practised - even today in India. 2. Afternoon, 15 minutes, Yoga. (excellent books in libraries) 3. Evening: slow walking. 30 minutes. Other things besides daily routine: Get in shape. Losing weight should be your #1 priority. Eat less, exercise (mild). Keep to about 1200 to 1400 calories a day. Be a strict vegetarian but not vegan. Fish is OK. Treat red meat like poison. Not even go near meat of anykind. This will help with your reducing smoking (I am not saying quit), and you do not have to load your body with so much vitamin. I think it is overdone. Your diet should contain OKRA (a vegetable, called ladies finger in English) at least 3 days a week. It helps cholestrol, good bowel movement and it has vitamins and minerals. Finally, thank me later after you have achieved your goal.
