Is it true that medications for hypertension makes you dependent on it?? -

I was just diagnosed to be hypertensive recently, I m 26 years old and my doctor prescribed some medications for hypertension. I m thinking twice of taking it since I ve heard that once you take those medications youre body will get used to it and you can t quit. Is that true

Not true. You do need to be careful when stopping certain BP meds. In other words you can t just stop cold turkey but need to cut down slowly to the point where you are off completely. If you eliminate some of the causes of hypertension; smoking, overweight, too much salt you may be able to stop taking them altogether

the bar was recently lowered on blood pressure numbers for when to advise taking antihypertensive medications. It is now recommended that any one with blood pressure over 120/65 be put on medication. However, there are some other reasons for taking some of these medications other than having hypertension. Don t worry about whether you will become dependent on antihypertensives. Rather worry about why you were diagnosed in the first place and Strive to not be one of the nasty little statistics! quot;he passed on due to refusing to take his doctor seriously at the age of 27!quot; Not a nice place to find oneself. If you don t take care of this problem, you will be like my baby brother who just turned 50. He has been supposed to be taking the antihypertensives since he was 23. He just suffered his third heart event! You want to be there?? No, I think not!
