What career or job involves preventing illnesses and preventing diease? -

Treating a person who is sick is a good thing but I would MUCH rather prevent the illness before it happenes such as through education. Diabetes and Hypertension, (high blood pressure) are rampant among certain people of the population, especially, Hispanics and African Americans and also diabetes in Native Americans. I would love a career that involves working for the benefit of the young people before they end up like their elders. Life style and diet REALLY needs to change. So what career would place me in that position? See medicare.gov and see the number of dialysis clinics in the big cities. (dialysis is caused mainly by diabetes and high blood pressure.) Obesity and/or a sedentary life style contribute to this along with a diet lacking fresh fruits and vegetables. The eating of salt pork, ham,and preprocessed foods are a BIG factor also I believe.

Sorry to tell you, but there is NOTHING that can prevent type one diabetes. Do what you can for type two s, but for some of us, there was nothing that we could have done to change what has become of us. I have always eaten healthy, exercised, and done it all. You can t lump both type one s and type two s into the same category. They are both very sad diseases and I wish you luck with finding a career in it....start by educating people on the toll their lifestyles can take on their bodies if they are not careful. But also realize there are two different diseases.
