What can cause excessive bleeding? -

for the last couple of days my father in law is bleedig a lot thru his nouse he is on hypertension meds and hi cholsterol could one of he meds be the reason and he also have a heart history

He s probably on blood thinners, like aspirin too.

If he is taking a blood thinner like Coumadin, it could be causing the bleeding. His doctor should be notified that he is having spontaneous nosebleeds.

The best thing you can do is go to the doctor there are so many reasons and causes when health is concerned that the doctor is really the best to advise. If he wont then talk to nhs diect they can tell you and give you advise. I wish you well x

Yes it could be the meds or a combination of the meds he should see his doctor right away.

excessive cuts?

Blood thinners are usually the culprits for spontaneous bleeds. Sometimes anti hypertension meds can cause an increased risk of bleeding due to the dilation of blood vessels, but normally doesn t cause bleeding by itself.
