Ive been offered a Lap band on the NHS!. Ive tried dieting for many years and my weight has fluctuated alot.? -

My BMI is now 44. I have hypertension, am pre diabetic, have renal disease and sleep apnea. What would you do? Ive tried reductil, xenical. Im worried about the horror stories regarding the surgery and post op problems?? Do the risks of the op outweigh the risks of CHD stroke etc.

Weight loss surgery-like lap band surgery have become very common and very safe now. My cousin got her Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery in India. She has lost more than 65 lbs in 5 months and is very happy with the results. The price for obesity surgery is very less in India. My cousin just paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America. She got her surgery from a company called Forerunners Healthcare. Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as Bariatric surgery and weight loss surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your Obesity surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star. this helps.

you obviously know the risks of not doing the procedure.... the procedure itself has been refined considerably over the last ten years and is really fairly safe, in and of itself. However, it isn t an instant solution. Know what you will have to do after the surgery before you commit to it, because it is by no means easy, and I ve known women who have GAINED weight after the procedure because they wouldn t follow the regimen. Just know what you are getting into so you can make an informed decision.

Shouldn t you be asking a doctor this? Anecdotal evidence, I know a few people who have had it and are fine, but it s major surgery so there is the possibility of complications. Just remember that you have to change your diet for the surgery to be totally effective and they will probably take you off any weight loss pills, so make sure you re ready for that too.

Oh a Lap band, thought why is the NHS giving away free computers.
