Which is an ideal antihypertensive? -

Treatment of Hypertension.

That would depend on your health issues and your doctor s knowledge of your issues and the medications that would be prescribed. There are many that do different things.

get ur BP measured. Ur Dr will take care of it, dont worry. its simple if u will show compliance with the prescribed drug.

garlic,dear!!!!

There is no standard/ideal hypertensive medicine...it has to be personalized, and your doctor , who knows your other medicial conditions, and lifestyle is your best bet on advice. Some antihypertensives have side effects that are actually useful in treating other medical problems, so you can get two for the price of one. For example, ACE inhibitors are also useful in patients with certain kidney problems

There is no quot;ideal antihypertensivequot; for everyone - it all depends on everyone s individual characteristics, for example, your age, any other illnesses that you suffer from at this time or in the past, etc. Your doctor will take all these into consideration when prescribing the best antihypertensive for you.

JNC 7 guidelines say it s HCTZ, followed by others. Ace inhibitors are also first-line. But, first thing to do is weight loss and diet modification. If it s still elevated, then you go on HCTZ and you have to be sure to stay on it at the beginning coz you will be peeing a lot and will want to discontinue it. Hope this helps! Of course, you should see a MD and if you re a good patient, you will already have your BP measured at a Walgreen s or other place and bring those measurements in for us to look at.
