Please help me figure out whats wrong? -

My dad had many blood tests done recently, and the doctor is ordering him to go in for follow up tests. The results came back from the first blood test and he is to go in this Saturday for the follow up. The results stated that he has increased potassium and increased WBC (white blood cell count). What could this mean? He has hypertension and an enlarged heart... I m really worried about my dad...any help would be very much appreciated!

They are probably just trying to make sure that his potassium is staying with in normal ranges. it is a very important electrolyte for the body but causes serious problems if to high or to low. they may also be checking his kidneys. because of the hypertension. hypertension causes profusion problems in the kidneys and can damage them. that would cause problems with potassium too.

Well, the increased white blood cell count indicates that there is an infection, and it could be a kidney infection. The infection can cause large heart and hypertension. Once the infection is under control, the other symptoms would lessen, I d assume.

all i know is the white cells are the infection fighting cells if they are increased that are multiplying to fight something off. potassium is found in bananas oes he eat a lot of them?
